Welcome to the MMM #177 challenge. Our host, Pamela, chose coloring with any medium for this two week challenge. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the MMM blog to check out what the rest of the design team members created. I’m always so impressed by the talent of my fellow DT members.
Here’s my card:
I have a card club at the high school where I teach. We create cards for kids undergoing cancer treatments and they are distributed through a local foundation. I needed to create kits on which some of my club members wanted to work during the summer. This card fit the bill for an easy card kit. This adorable hippo and coordinating die set are in the upcoming Sale-a-Bration catalog, which goes live July 1, 2022. You can earn the stamp set and the die set for a $50 qualifying purchase for each.
Measurements:
The Blackberry Bliss base measures 4-1/4 by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches to create a tent fold.
Next, I trimmed a piece of the new Host DSP (designer series paper) in the annual catalog, Design a Daydream. This 48 sheet set of DSP two-sided papers really contains some fabulous patterns and color combinations. I trimmed this piece to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches. In addition, I trimmed a piece to 2-1/2 inches by 6 inches for the envelope flap.
Then, I chose another pattern from this DSP in Blackberry Bliss for the strip on the front of the card. This strip measures 1/2 by 5-3/8 inches.
The white cardstock on the front of the card measures 3-1/2 inches by 2-3/4 inches. At this point, I also trimmed a piece of white cardstock for the inside of the card measuring 5-1/4 by 4 inches.
I wanted a mat for the white cardstock on the front, so I trimmed a piece of Blackberry Bliss to 3-5/8 by 2-7/8 inches.
That’s it for the measurements.
What I Did:
I stamped the hippo and the sentiment on white cardstock using Momento Tuxedo Black ink.
Then, I used my Smoky Slate dark and light blends combo to color the hippo. I also used the light Petal Pink blend for her ballet shoes, nails, and accents on her face.
In order to coordinate with the DSP, I used my Daffodil Delight light and dark blends for her tutu.
Then, I cropped her using the coordinating die set. I added dimensionals underneath her so she would pop up off the card.
At the same time, I cropped an umbrella, also from the Hippo die set, from black cardstock and from a piece of Blackberry Bliss 6 x 6 DSP. Then, I trimmed of the handle from the DSP umbrella and glued the top to the black cardstock. I added dimensionals under the top of the umbrella.
All of the rest of the pieces where adhered with multipurpose liquid glue.
I didn’t need to put any sentiment on the inside. The club will have a card signing day, which will include the rest of the school student body writing notes on the inside of the card. It’s an eye-opening experience because the most important sentiment that can not be used in any way is “get well soon”. In reality, some of this children won’t get well.
While these cards also don’t need envelopes, I wanted to include them for these card kits.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated envelope and card set.
Vacation:
My daughter is in town from California for my family’s annual beach week. We’re off for the beach tomorrow. We’ve all been going to spend a week at the beach in the same condos we’ve used for 40+ years. The only year we missed was COVID. We now have three generations going to beach week.
Welcome to the newest MMM challenge. It’s my turn to host the challenge, and I chose summer fun. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the Make My Monday challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team created for their own summer fun.
My summer fun card needs to be explained a little bit. My family has been going to the beach for a week at the same place for 45 years, with the exception of 2020 for obvious reasons. It started with just my parents and siblings, along with my aunt and cousin. Since then, we’ve added two more generations and everyone starts counting down the days until the next beach week as soon as the current one ends.
Here’s my stepped up summer fun card:
I also created a more basic card with less supplies:
This stunning DSP (designer series paper) has been sold out, but these cards can be created without the paper by just using the Waves of Inspiration bundle. Here’s a look at the inside of both cards to show off the wave in the stamp set:
For the purpose of the challenge post, I’ll share what I did for the more involved card:
Measurements:
The Pacific Point base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches to create a tent card.
I trimmed a piece of Coastal Cabana and Pacific Point cardstock to 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches.
Next, I used the second and third largest layering diorama dies to crop the Pacific Point and Coastal Cabana cardstock. In order to accomplish an even layer of depth between the two layers, I used a lot (!!!) of dimensionals and mini-dimensionals on the underside of the Pacific Point cardstock.
The DSP background paper measures 4-1/4 inches by 5-1/2 inches. Since I had the DSP out, I trimmed another piece to 6 x 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. Then, I punched a 1 inch circle from coordinating DSP for the envelope seal. As always, I ran the circle through my XYRON create-a-sticker and finished off the seal.
I trimmed the white cardstock for the inside of the card to 4 by 5-1/4 inches.
Stamping and Such:
I started by using the Gentle Waves background stamp and Pacific Point ink on the same colored cardstock for the top layer of the card. The cardstock is a bit larger than the stamp. Therefore, the first time I stamped it, I made sure the bottom waves lined up where I wanted them. Then, I just reinked the top part of the stamp to fill in the top of the cardstock.
Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Happy and Heartfelt stamp set, in black ink on white cardstock. I also stamped the pilings and pelican on white cardstock using Basic Gray ink.
I wanted the rope around the pilings to have dimension, so I added baker’s twine around following the stamped rope. In order to get thinner twine, I pulled just one thread out of a length of twine and used that.
I cropped the sentiment using one of the new stylish shapes dies. These dies are fabulous and a must have!
Then, I cropped the pelican and pilings and the wave using the waves dies.
Next, I added some shimmery paste to the wave using a craft stick.
Before I adhered the dimensionals on the layering diorama pieces, I adhered the wave to the back of the Pacific Point cardstock. Then, I started cutting mini-dimensionals into quarters. This was interesting, to say the least. I’m not 100% happy with the way the dimensionals came out, so I will probably redo them very, very, very carefully.
All I had to do was the inside of the card. I used Coastal Cabana and stamped the wave on the white cardstock. Without re-inking, I stamped the front of the envelope as well.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
Here are just a few of my favorite new things, all of which arrive TODAY!

Welcome to the new Make My Monday challenge! Our host for MMM #175, Mary V., chose fruits and vegetables for the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will check out the MMM challenge blog post And get inspired to play along! See you in the gallery!
When I started looking through my Stampin’ Up! products, i realized i only have one stamp set with fruits and vegetables outside of pumpkin stamps. You know what that means —— time to get some new sets!
Here’s my peachy card:
Measurements and Such
The Pear Pizazz base measures 8-1/2 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/2 inches.
Next, I ran the Calypso Coral cardstock through my cut and emboss machine using the brick 3D embossing folder. Then, I trimmed the cardstock to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
The peach DSP (designer series paper) measures 3 by 5-1/4 inches. I also trimmed a piece to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
Next, I adhered the DSP directly to the Calypso Coral cardstock using multipurpose liquid glue.
I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of scrap Pear Pizazz cardstock using VersaMark ink.
Then, I covered the sentiment with white embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool. After cropping the sentiment using the scalloped contour die set, I added dimensionals to the underside.
I wrapped a length of retired white ribbon from my jar of leftovers around the card and adhered it on the back with tear and tape. Then, I folded some baker’s twine 4 times and tied it in a square knot around the ribbon.
I tried using three bee trinkets, but just one worked better. Less is more in this case.
The white cardstock for the inside of the card measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. Since I wanted to use this as an all-occasion card, I left the inside blank.
Finally, I punched a 1 inch circle from coordinating DSP and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker to make the envelope seal.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Welcome to the newest Make My Monday challenge! Caz chose the theme of springtime for challenge #174. When you finish here, I hope you will pop over to the challenge site and be inspired by the projects created by the rest of the design team. I’m always blown away by the talent these wonderful ladies present for each and every challenge.
Yesterday was Mother’s Day in the U.S., and I am sharing my card for my mom. I went with clean and simple with a gorgeous color combination of Poppy Parade, Pool Party, and white. At first, I wasn’t sold on the Flowering Fields DSP (designer series paper). However, I’m now in love and am going to be ordering this DSP quickly before it goes away when the mini-catalog sales period ends. I can see myself using this color combination over and over in the next few months. The DSP does all the work on this card.
Here’s my card:
Measurements and Such:
I started with a Poppy Parade base measuring 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, and scored it at 5-1/2 inches.
The white cardstock layer on the outside measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. I cropped the sentiment from the center of that cardstock since no one will see the ugly center.
I started with a 4 inch by 5-1/4 inch piece of white cardstock for the inside panel as well. Then I used the scalloped die from the Scalloped Contour dies. I did eyeball the placement of the die so it would be relatively even on both ends.
The Flowering Fields DSP on the front measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. I outlined the DSP with the brush end of my Poppy Parade marker.
Next, I trimmed a piece of coordinating DSP from the Flowering Fields papers to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. I used the same DSP for the inside of the card. That piece measures 5-1/4 inches by 1-1/2 inches.
This Poppy Parade ribbon is too thick, for the lack of a better word, for a bow. However, it works beautifully for a square knot.
The outside sentiment comes from the Strong and Beautiful stamp set. I used a sentiment from In Your Words for the inside. Even though it’s probably a birthday sentiment, it works for Mother’s Day as well.
I used a piece of leftover Pool Party cardstock for the mat of the outside sentiment.
Using my dark Pool Party blend, I colored three basic pearls to match the color combination.
Finally, I trimmed the DSP on the envelope flap, punched a 1 inch circle and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal. With that, this coordinated card, envelope, and seal set was complete.
Thank you very much for stopping by my blog today!
I’m so happy that a number of items carried over into this catalog. However, I’m even happier with so many of the new products!

Welcome to the Make My Monday challenge # 173. Debbie chose happy birthday for this two-week challenge theme. When you are finished here, I hope you will pop over to the Make My Monday challenge site to see what the rest of the design team created.
When I started thinking about this theme, I decided that I would only use “scraps” from my Pool Party, Basic White, and Basic Black stash. I keep my cardstock sheets in letter sized file folders in alphabetical order. Each color’s file folder has an 8 x 8 inch page protector for “scraps”. I’m a teacher and a crafter, so I don’t stand a chance when it comes to keeping things I might use some day. This card is proof I can and will use my leftovers. A bit more on that in just a minute.
First, here’s the sketch I used for inspiration:
I hope you can see the sketch in the front panel of my fun fold Z-card.
Measurements and Leftovers:
As I said, just about everything came from my leftovers in the 8 x 8 inch page protectors. I did need to use a piece of white cardstock for the inside panel, a black dot, and 4 1/2 inch circles for the center of the daisy.
I already had the Pool Party base leftover and scored just the way I needed it. The base measures 8-1/2 inches by 5-1/2 inches. It was already scored at 4-1/4 inches and 2-1/8 inches to create the z-fold.
The two daisy pieces were punched already, and the white layer was already dry embossed
I had the black frame leftover from cropping out the center for another project. The black cardstock for the sentiment also came from leftovers.
All I needed to do for all the DSP pieces was trim them down to size. Like I said, I keep all kinds of pieces, and the black cardstock leftovers finally came in handy. Even the 4-1/8 inch by 5-3/8 inch black cardstock for the bottom layer is a leftover from a previous project. You can’t see it now, but there’s a rectangle cropped from the middle that I’d used on a previous project.
Even the Pool Party for the front framed area used to live in my leftover page protector. However, I did need to run it through my cut and emboss machine using the Subtle embossing folder.
Try Stampin’ on Tuesday
In order to be in line with the TSOT sketch challenge, I used white baker’s twine at the top of the front panel. I folded the twine three times, wrapped it around the frame and tied it in a bow. So much easier than trying to wrap it around three times and tie off a tiny bow. I used a glue dot to keep the bow in place.
The sentiment, from the Hello Ladybug cling stamp set, was stamped in VersaMark then heat set using white embossing powder.
The inside sentiment comes from the Biggest Wish photopolymer stamp set.
I did have to scrounge to find a leftover piece of DSP for the envelope flap. The basic gray DSP does come from a leftover piece of DSP. Once I found it, I trimmed it to 2-1/2 inches by 6 inches for the envelope flap.
I used mini-dimensionals under each white petal of the daisy. I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere everything else.
After double-checking the inspiration sketch, I realized I needed something in the lower, right-hand corner. I grabbed my matte black dots, and finished the card.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card and envelope set. I stayed true to the challenge I gave myself in that I used all but two leftovers.
Thankyou very much for stopping by my blog today!
Have a Peachy Day!

Welcome to the new two-week challenge from Make My Monday, #172. Our host for #172, Dawn, chose washi tape as the theme for the challenge. Therefore, this challenge really required me to think outside the box because I have two rolls of washi, both of which are almost out.
See if you can figure out where I used washi tape on my card:
If you guessed on the “thanks” sentiment die, you guessed correctly. Here’s the washi tape I used:
A Basic Card with a Thankful Message:
I finally ordered the Amazing Thanks die set and decided it would work for this card.
I started by layering stripes of the washi tape on a piece of scrap white cardstock. Since the rows of dots are spaced out, I placed the silver tape so that each stripe would allow some of the polka dots to show.
Then, I cropped out four more “thanks” pieces so I could layer them for a 3D effect. I did this mainly because I didn’t want to deal with dimensionals or the foam adhesive sheets when I was working on the card. The resulting sentiment turned out just like the picture I had of it in my head.
The Just Jade base of the card measures 8-1/2 inches by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches to form a tent card.
After running a piece of the Bumblee cardstock through the cut and emboss machine using the Subtles embossing folder, I trimmed it to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
Next, I cropped out the center using a stitched rectangle die to use as a mat for the sentiment. I used Bumblebee ink and the Artfully Layered stamp set to add the leaves to the cardstock mat.
The Artfully Layered DSP (designer series paper) measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. I outlined it using a black Stamping Write Marker to make it pop off the Bumblebee layer. I also trimmed a piece of the DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
Finishing Up:
Then, I wrapped a piece of the Just Jade chevron ribbon around the DSP and tied it on the right in a bow. I used a mini-glue dot to secure the bow to the DSP.
I already had the palm frond cropped and added it under the raised sentiment.
The sentiment mat is the only thing on dimensionals for this card. I put them there to accommodate the ribbon. My favorite adhesive, the multipurpose liquid adhesive, adhered everything else.
After I trimmed the DSP on the envelope flap and made the envelope seal, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and seal set.
Thankyou very much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you will play along with this washi tape challenge!
