In the City with MMM#209

Welcome to the bi-weekly Make My Monday challenge #209. Our host for this challenge, Heather, chose In the City for the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge website to see the creations from the rest of the design team. Part of what I love about this challenge is that the options are unlimited regarding interpretation of the challenge theme. We’d enjoy seeing your creations in our gallery and thank you for playing along with us.

There are times that a challenge theme really requires me to think outside the box. This was one of those themes. I realized that I don’t really have anything for a city themed card, except for the Les Shoppes 6 x 12 inch DSP from a paper share.

Here’s the card I created:

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is final-2023-09-03T161214.337-480x640.jpg

Measurements:

  • The Basic Black card base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • The Balmy Blue and white background DSP (designer series paper) measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
  • I used one of the Scalloped Contour dies for the mat under the shoppe, which I outlined in Calypso Coral.
  • The DSP for the envelope flap is another pattern from Les Shoppes. I trimmed it to 6 by 2-1/2 inches. I also trimmed a piece to 1/2 by 4 inches for the bottom of the inside of the card.
  • I punched a 1-inch circle from the Balmy Blue DSP for the envelope seal and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker.
  • The shoppe itself is from another piece of the DSP set, which I had to fussy cut, along with the plant on the corner of the shoppe.
  • I used scraps of Balmy Blue and Calypso Coral for the sentiment.
  • The inside of the card is a piece of white cardstock trimmed to 4 by 5-1/4 inches.

What I Did:

  • I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the DSP to the black base and the white scalloped mat to the DSP.
  • If you don’t mind getting covered in ink, pull a piece of white baker’s twine over the Calypso Coral ink pad. You need to roll it while you are pulling it. Let it dry completely before you try using it on your card. I may or may not have done that and may have messed up the first piece of background DSP. Ok, I did mess it up. Let the baker’s twine dry completley.
  • After it had dried, I wrapped it around the top of the canopy of the shoppe because I wanted to create a ledge of sorts.
  • I added dimensionsals under the shoppe and the plant and adhered them to the scalloped contour mat.
  • The clear embossed sentiment comes from the Charming Sentiments die set. I’ve always liked the look of cropped sentiments but mine never seemed to turn out as planned. Therefore, I am thrilled that this set of fabulous sentiments has a coordinating die set, the Sentiment Silhouette dies.
  • In order to create the Calypso Coral mat, which allows the sentiment to pop against all the Balmy Blue, I cropped one of the what’s new sentiment dies. I simply cut it in half and used liquid glue to attach the piece to the back of the sentiment.
  • I added 3 small Calypso Coral ombre dots to finish off the front of the card..
  • I stamped another Charming Sentiment in Balmy Blue on the inside panel of the card and adhered it using liquid glue.
  • With that, I ‘d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Have a Peachy Day!

Gone Fishing for Make My Monday #208 & Creative Creases Challenge

Welcome to the new Make My Monday bi-weekly challenge #208. Our host for this challenge, Pamela, chose hobbies for the theme. I want to thank all of you who played along with my three of anything challenge #207. I really struggled to narrow it down to the top choices and enjoyed looking at all your cards..

My husband loves to fish, but it’s just been too beastly hot to go fishing lately, even in the mornings. I made this card for him and am going to mail it so it will be a complete surprise in just a few days. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see the wide variety of hobby cards. We’d love to see your interpretation of our hobby challenge, so don’t forget to upload it to our gallery.

Here’s my fishing fun fold card:

I’ll be uploading this card to the current Creative Creases challenge.

Since it took me quite a number of failed tries for one of my hobbies, I needed something fast. I visited Connie Stewart’s YouTube channel and found a video for this easy fun fold card. I followed all her directions and measurements, but I substituted the Gone Fishing suite of products. Happily, the bundle is back in stock. The DSP is fabulous and incorporates some of the 2023 – 2025 In Colors. I used the Pebbled Path ribbon and stamp pad, along with a touch of Wild Wheat for the lure.

The white-ish dot on the Pecan Pie flap and the fishing DSP (designer series paper) is a little Velcro closure set. The ribbon makes the flap a bit difficult to keep down, and this little Velcro thingie saves the day.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Have a Peachy Day!

Three of Anything for MMM # 207

Welcome to the bi-weekly Make My Monday challenge. I’m the host for challenge # 207, and I chose three of anything as the theme.

When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see the projects created by the rest of the design team. We would love to see your “three of anything” creations uploaded to our gallery!

Here’s my three of anything card:

I think I might have gone a little bit overboard with the groups of three. Three ladybugs, three white circles, three Sweet Sorbet circles, and three sets of googly-eyes. I. just can’t seem to put these ladybugs together without using googly eyes. Admit it – they are stinking cute with those eyes!

What You Need:

  • A Sweet Sorbet base trimmed to 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • The background DSP (designer series paper) comes from the Zany Zoo suite. It measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches. Then, I outlined it with a black Stamping Write Marker to give it some definition.
  • Trim another piece of DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • Punch a 1-inch circle of coordinating Sweet Sorbet 6 x 6 inch DSP for the envelope seal.
  • Punch 3 black ladybug bodies and 3 Sweet Sorbet sets of wings.
  • I punched three vellum cardstock wings as well.
  • Those circles! Did you notice the deckled circles? They can be found in the new mini-catalog which goes live September 6, 2023. I cropped three white and three Sweet Sorbet deckled circles.
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 5-1/4 by 4 inches for the inside of the card. I. don’t know the purpose of this all occasion card yet, so I didn’t stamp an inside sentiment.

Putting the Card Together:

  • I only added dimensionals to the bottom, right-hand ladybug and the sentiment. I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere everything else.
  • Wrap a piece of the metallic Sweet Sorbet ribbon around the DSP and tie it in a bow.
  • Glue the white circles to the Sweet Sorbet circles.
  • Stamp the Sweet Sorbet wings using the dots stamp from the Hello Ladybug stamp set using Momento Tuxedo Black ink.
  • Layer the Sweet Sorbet wings on the vellum wings so the vellum barely shows between the wings and the body of the ladybugs.
  • Then adhere the Sweet Sorbet circles to the DSP using multipurpose liquid glue.
  • Adhere the ladybugs to the circle mats.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black and crop using a label die.
  • Punch a tiny dot from the top of the label and thread a small piece of the metallic ribbon through the hole. I used a piece of tear & tape on the back to secure it in place.
  • Using dimensionals, adhere the sentiment to the front of the card under the bow.
  • Since the googly eyes are self-adhesive, I just needed to peel the backing off and apply to the ladybugs. So stinking cute!
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Have a Peachy Day!

MMM #206 Goes to Space!

Welcome to the 206th edition of the biweekly Make My Monday challenge. Our host, Mary V., chose Space Travel as the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see the creations from the rest of the design team. I really struggled with this one, but everyone else seems to have nailed it! We can’t wait to see what you create, so please remember to upload your projects to the gallery.

Here’s my faux shaker Space Travel card:

I said it’s a faux shaker card because it’s the much easier version. To create this card, you need to use the Stampin’ UP! medium envelopes, item # 102619, pictured below:

These envelopes measure 5-3/4 by 4-3/8 inches, but will fold and burnish easily to match the size of your inside DSP (designer series paper). Connie Stewart posted a quick Tuesday Tip video showing how to create the faux shaker card. You can see that here.

HINT: For the insides of the shaker card, I added some sequins to some Kosher Salt and a little bit of glitter. Yes, you read that correctly: Kosher Salt. It’s fabulous for shaker cards and I’ve used it for years in my shakers.

Measurements:

  • The Blackberry Bliss base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • Trim a piece of DSP to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches for the inside.
  • You need a coordinating piece of DSP for the frame. I started with a piece that’s 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches and cropped it using the deckled rectangle dies to create a frame.
  • I added a 1/2 by 4 inch of DSP to the bottom of the 4 by 5-1/4 inch white cardstock for the inside of the card.
  • Trim another piece of DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • Punch 1-inch circle using a coordinating piece of DSP for the envelope seal and run it through your XYRON create-a-sticker machine.
  • That’s it for the measurements.

Assembly:

  • Put the DSP into the clear envelope. Make sure you have the adhesive tab facing the back.
  • The most important thing is to make sure that you have the bottom corner of the DSP firmly in place in the corner of the clear envelope.
  • After I folded and burnished the clear envelope to fit my DSP, I used tear & tape to keep the side fold in place.
  • Add your shaker pieces to the inside of the envelope.
  • The shaker part adds bulk, so I didn’t want to use dimensionals to adhere the frame in place. Therefore, I used tear & tape to adhere it to the envelope.
  • Using VersaMark ink, stamp your sentiment on Blackberry Bliss cardstock. Cover it with silver embossing powder and heat set it.
  • Crop your sentiment making sure your ends line up with the outside frame of your card.
  • Add 1 dimensional under the sentiment banner so it doesn’t get bent down in the mail.
  • Add the white cardstock with the DSP trim to the inside of the card.
  • That’s it. With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Playing in the Rain with MMM#205

Welcome to the newest Make My Monday challenge starting today, June 17,2023. I’m a little late with this post, but I hope the card I created makes up for it! Our host for #205, Caz, chose an aperture card. I had to look up directions for an aperture card, but I found one I liked, and I hope you will as well.

I want to thank Henry Bacon for the wonderful update to my logo! Thank you for making my vision become a reality!

Here’s my Playing in the Rain card:

This card was basically done with leftovers. Leftover DSP so I had to be very careful since I didn’t have any other pieces, The leftover turtle, rabbit, and clouds that I’d previously cropped, and leftover Cajun Craze twine (no telling how long I’ve had that).

I used a video from a UK demonstrator, Amanda Charlesworth with Create with ScrimpingMommy

Her measurements call for 5-7/8 inches by 12 inches. For the U.S. medium envelopes, I simply trimmed the cardstock to 5-1/2 inches so the card would fit in a medium Basic White envelope, Then, I followed all the same scoring lines and directions. The finished card measures 4 by 5-1/2 inches. It certainly is a happy surprise for the lucky recipient!

Measurements for the U.S. :

  • I started with a 5-1/2 by 12 inch cardstock.
  • Both the inside and outside DSP panels measure 3-7/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
  • I trimmed the white cardstock to 3-1/2 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside.
  • I added dimensionals for all the outside elements, so the card will need 2 stamps for the post office.
  • As always, I trimmed a piece of coordinating DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • I also punched a 1-inch circle from another piece of DSP for the envelope seal.
  • After running the seal through my XYRON create-a-sticker, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Have a Peachy Day!

On the Water for Make My Monday #203

Welcome to the newest bi-weekly Make My Monday challenge! Our host for challenge #203, Dawn, chose On the Water for the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site. It’s always a treat to see what the rest of the design team members created for the challenge. I hope you will be inspired to play along with us and post your creation in the gallery.

Here’s my card:

While it may not look like a water card, the DSP (designer series paper) is called By the Bay, and the swirls remind me of the different colors in the water and the sky at the beach. It’s my family’s annual beach week this week, so maybe I just have the beach on my mind.

Measurements and Such:

  • Trim a piece of Night of Navy to 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches. Score at 4-1/4 inches to create a tent card.
  • Use the largest deckled rectangle die to crop the background DSP. Adhere to the card base using multipurpose liquid glue.
  • Use the next smallest deckled rectangle die to crop the swirled DSP.
  • Trim a piece of gold foil to 1 inch wide. Use the same deckled rectangle die as above to create the gold foil trim.
  • Offset the gold trim so that just a sliver of it shows under the swirled DSP.
  • Stamp a sentiment onto a scrap piece of white cardstock using Night of Navy ink.
  • Crop the sentiment using an appropriate size deckled rectangle die.
  • Crop a piece of the wavy Night of Navy DSP. for a mat under the sentiment. Attach it to the swirled DSP using multipurpose liquid glue.
  • Wrap Night of Navy ribbon around the swirled DSP so it goes over the sentiment mat piece of DSP and tie it in a bow.
  • Add dimensionals under the sentiment panel so they straddle the ribbon. Adhere to the card.
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside panel.
  • Stamp the sentiment using Night of Navy ink.
  • Trim a 1/2 inch wide piece of the swirled DSP and adhere to the bottom of the white cardstock.
  • Trim a piece of coordinating DSP (I used the waves pattern) to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • Punch a 1 inch circle from coordinating DSP to use for the envelope seal. I use the XYRON create-a-sticker to do this. You can find the link on Amazon here. The link for the permanent adhesive refills can be found here.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Thanks for stopping by!
