Welcome to another Cardz 4 Guyz challenge! It’s my turn to host challenge #281. The temperatures here in Central Florida are still scorching, so the theme I chose reflects my weather wishes: autumn colors for a birthday card. I hope you will pop over to the C4G blog to see what the rest of the design team created as well!
Here’s my autumn birthday card for a guy:
For this card, I really let the DSP (designer series paper) do the vast majority of the work. All I added was a sentiment panel and some linen thread.
Measurements:
I used Merry Merlot for the base and trimmed it to 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches and scored it at 5-1/2 inches to form a tent card.
There’s a woodgrain piece of DSP from Beauty of the Earth used as a mat for the front of the card and also for a mat for the sentiment panel. One piece measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. The sentiment panel mat measures 4-1/8 inches by 1-3/4 inches. I used the same DSP for the envelope flap, so I trimmed a piece to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches.
The very colorful DSP for the front of the card measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. Since the paper is directional, make sure you have it going the right way before trimming it.
I used a scrap of white cardstock for the actual sentiment. It measures 3-7/8 inches by 1-3/5 inches (or, for me, 1 tick mark past 1-1/2 inches).
The white cardstock for the inside panel measures my usual at 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
What I Did:
First, I stamped the happy birthday sentiment from the Biggest Wish stamp set using Pumpkin Pie and Early Espresso inks. Since this stamp set is photopolymer, it is pretty easy to line up the words right where you want them.
Next, I use the trio of tiny leaves stamp from Gorgeous Leaves to accent the sentiment panel. I found it much easier to color in the leaves using my Merry Merlot, Bumblebee, and Cinnamon Cider markers. Then I simply stamped the trio three times on the panel. The third time I stamped I did stamp off the panel so the leaves wouldn’t overlap the words.
I placed dimensionals under the sentiment panel and adhered it to the woodgrain DSP mat. Then, I adhered the mat to the colorful autumn leaves DSP using liquid glue.
Thankfully, before I adhered the assembled front to the base of the card, I thought to add the linen thread. I wrapped the thread around three times and tied a bow.
After making sure I only had a single layer of thread on the back of the card, I adhered it to the base using liquid glue. Once adhered, that thread will not move.
Next, I worked on the inside panel of the card, pictured below:
First, I used the woodgrain stamp from Gorgeous Leaves and stamped off Pumpkin Pie ink before stamping on the white cardstock.
Then, I used Early Espresso and stamped the sentiment from the In Your Words host stamp set from the September Sale-a-Bration catalog.
Finally, I stamped three sets of the trio of leaves on the panel.
Finishing Up:
After trimming the DSP on the envelope flap, I punched a circle of the colorful leaves DSP to create an envelope seal. Of course, you know I ran the circle through my XYRON create-a-sticker machine.
HINT: After running the envelope seal through the XYRON create-a-sticker, I rub and peel the adhesive off the top. I use that piece of adhesive tape to pick up the pesky dimensional covers and small scraps of paper off my tile floor. What’s the strangest place you’ve found dimensional covers? A couple of weeks ago, I found one on my lab mix dog. He keeps me company in my studio and must have rolled onto one and it stuck.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated birthday card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this card.

Welcome to another Cardz 4 Guyz challenge! Billie chose “add some metal” for the theme 0fr #280. I hope you will pop over to the C4G blog to see what the rest of the design team created as well!
My card required a trip to ACE Hardware to get some sort of metal. I wound up getting 21 washers of various sizes and some 5 gauge picture hanging wire.
Here’s my card:
The card is a pretty basic layout. I used the smallest washers randomly placed around the card. While I was playing around with the washers, I decided that Real Red dots behind them would make them stand out much more.
Definitely an Easy-Peasy Card
Getting Started:
The Real Red base measures 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
The black and white checked DSP (designer series paper) came from the host set of DSP named Pattern Party DSP and measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. The pack of DSP contains 48 12×12 inch DSP. The front side has all kinds of color patterns on each piece. But, it’s the back side that made me want to get the paper: it’s all different black and white patterns. I chose the checked for the front of the card and the dotted DSP for the envelope flap. The dotted piece measures 2-1/2 inches by 6 inches.
I adhered each small washer to the red circles using two mini glue dots, which I rolled up on themselves to fit behind the washers. Then I used multipurpose glue to adhere the circles to the DSP.
After the Washers:
The three strips of Real Red on the front of the card each measure 1/2 inch by 5-3/8 inches.
I attached the larger sized washers to the front of the card using the 5 gauge picture wire.. Since it’s so thin it was easy to cut and manipulate. Just make sure to fold any cut edges under.
The fun sentiment comes from the Sale-a-Bration host stamp set, In Your Words. There are so many great sentiments in this one set. I know I will use it long after Sale-a-Bration ends.
I cropped the sentiment, stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink, using the stitched rectangles dies. Then, I trimmed a piece of the envelope DSP pattern for the sentiment mat. This whole panel has dimensionals under it to pop it up.
There’s a piece of white cardstock for the inside of the card. It measures 4 inches by 5-1./4 inches. I stamped a simple “Happy Birthday” on the inside.
Finally, I adhered and trimmed the DSP on the envelope flap. After punching a circle from the same DSP as the front of the card, I ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker.
With that, I’d finished this basic coordinated card/envelope/seal set.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this card.

Again, thank you for stopping by my blog today! I appreciate your comments and your time.
I used Frenchie Martin’s million sales achiever’s stamp set, After the Storm. The colors are Misty Moonlight, Basic Grey, Smoky Slate, and Bumblebee.
Measurements:
The Misty Moonlight base measures 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
I used Bumblebee for the middle mat. It measures 5-3/8 inches by 8-3/8 inches.
Believe it or not, the top layer started out as a piece of white cardstock. It measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. While I had the white out, I trimmed a same sized piece for the inside of the card.
I used scraps to crop out the Misty Moonlight, Smoky Slate, and white circles for the front sentiment.
What I Did:
I started with a blending brush and Basic Grey for the bottom quarter of the card. My goal was to have a dark bottom part of the sky. As I got higher, I started to use less Basic Grey so I could blend the colors together.
Next, I used the same blending brush with the Smoky Slate ink pad to lightly color the rest of the sky grey.. Then I used a blending brush with Misty Moonlight. For this layer, I colored over the grey unevenly to add different depths of blue to the sky.
Next, I stamped the clouds, again using Smoky Slate. I double stamped each of them to add texture.
Then, I used Bumblebee to stamp the rays of sunshine. I only had one shot at it because I didn’t use the Stamparatus. I’m pleased with the result of the varying depth of color and lengths of the rays. The result is a depiction of one of my favorite Florida skies.
The sentiment also comes from the After the Storm stamp set. I stamped it in Misty Moonlight then cropped the circle using the (very sadly retired) Stitched Shapes dies.
The Misty Moonlight circle is attached to the front of the card using multipurpose liquid glue, as is the sentiment on the grey circle. I used dimensionals under the grey circle to pop up the sentiment.
As an afterthought, I stamped the three seagulls from Sailing Home in tuxedo black on the bottom left corner.
Finally, I stamped “You have been on my mind” from After the Storm in Misty Moonlight on the inside panel of the card. I also added the three birds by the sentiment.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this card.

Welcome to another Cardz 4 Guyz challenge! Caz chose “Things with Tails” for the theme for #278. I hope you will pop over to the C4G blog to see what the rest of the design team created as well!
Here’s my card:
Sometimes masculine cards for adults can be a struggle. I have all kinds of animals with tails stamps, but for the most part, they are cutesy. This giraffe, I hope, can work for a guys card.
What I Did:
The Bumblebee base measures 11 inches by 4-1/4 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches creating a tent card..
The Cinnamon Cider DSP (designer series paper) on the front measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches. The envelope flap DSP measures 2-1/2 inches by 6 inches. I immediately adhered the DSP to the flap so I wouldn’t misplace it.
When I reached for my Bumblebee blends, I remembered that this color doesn’t have any blends. Next best thing: stamp the giraffe on Bumblebee cardstock. I really wanted the giraffe on white, but the rest of the yellow blends didn’t work for me.
I used the Cinnamon Cider blends to color the giraffe’s spots. Then I used the black Stampin’ Write marker for the hooves. His eye really needed to be white, so I used a white gel pen to color his eye. When that completely dried, I added the black eye ball with the black marker.
Next, I used a stitched rectangle die to crop out the giraffe.. Then, I used the white gel pen to color in the stitches in the ditch.
The Picture This die made the sentiment blocks possible. First, I cropped the DSP using the Picture This die. Next, I cropped the blocks in white cardstock.
All the sentiments come from the Back on Your Feet stamp set, along with the giraffe.
I popped the Cinnamon Cider DSP up on dimensionals to create a frame. After stamping the sentiments, I adhered them directly to the base using multipurpose glue.
I used three dimensionals on the left side of the giraffe panel and multipurpose glue on the right side so the giraffe isn’t going anywhere.
Finally, I wrapped some linen thread around the bottom of the DSP and tied it in a square knot.
Ta-Da! Done.

Welcome to another Cardz 4 Guyz challenge! Julie chose “Age is Just a Number” as the theme for challenge #277. I hope you will pop over to the C4G blog to see what the rest of the design team created as well!
Here’s my card:
Measurements:
The Early Espresso card base measures 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches. I scored it at 5-1/2 inches to create a landscape card.
The Very Vanilla cardstock for both the background on the front and the panel on the inside measure 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
I used DSP from In Good Taste for the fence pieces.
The sentiment was stamping in Early Espresso on a scrap of Very Vanilla, then cropped using a stitched rectangle die.
The Old Olive DSP for the flag and balloons on the front were also scraps. I trimmed a piece of the Old Olive 6 x 6 inch DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. Since I have a habit of misplacing these pieces, I have started adhering them to the envelope immediately.
What I Did:
First, I stamped the goat in Early Espresso where I wanted him to live on the card. Then, I stamped one of the goats on copy paper and fussy cut it out to use as a mask. The removable adhesive really keeps a mask in place for the duration of the blending and/or stamping process.
Next, I stamped the grass in Old Olive on the bottom of the Very Vanilla. I stamped grass about 3/4 inch up from the bottom. so it peeks out from behind the fence.
Then, I used Balmy Blue and a blending brush for the sky. I purposely left darker and lighter areas of the sky for depth and texture.
After I was happy with the blending of the sky, I removed the mask and used the Crumb Cake and Soft Suede blends to color in the goat. (Am I the only one who would LOVE to have Early Espresso blends???)
Using the sheep dies, I cropped two pieces of the fence and mounted them on dimensionals.
I also mounted the sentiment block, the center balloon, and the flag on dimensionals.
As an afterthought, I added stamped the open tin can on Crumb Cake paper and fussy cut it out. I thought the best place for it would be near the goat.
Then I turned my attention to the inside panel of the card. Here’s what I did for that:
I decided to stamp the same goat on the front, bottom, left corner of the envelope. I stamped “Way to GOAT” on the opposite bottom corner.
After that, all I needed to do was trim the DSP on the envelope flap.
Thank you very much for stopping by my blog. I appreciate every visit and comment.

Welcome to another Cardz 4 Guyz challenge! Dawn chose “shades of blue” for the theme for #276. I hope you will pop over to the C4G blog to see what the rest of the design team created as well!
Here’s my card:
This card falls into the easy-peasy category when using the Stamparatus. I can’t imagine trying to do this card without that tool.
Measurements:
The Night of Navy base of the card started out measuring 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
Next, I trimmed off 1-1/4 inches from the top, outside part of the card.
The white cardstock on the front measures 5-3/8 inches by 2-7/8 inches.
The white cardstock on the inside panel measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3//8 inches.
The DSP panel for the inside of the card measures 4-1/8 inches by 1-1/2 inches.
I also trimmed a piece of the DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. Since I have a tendency to put the envelope DSP pieces away, I adhered it to the envelope flap as soon as I trimmed it down.
At the same time, I punched a 1 inch circle of coordinating DSP and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker machine for the envelope seal.
Stamparatus for the Win!
I used the Biggest Wish photopolymer stamp set from the annual catalog for the sentiment words.
First, I used a piece of printer paper trimmed to the same size as the white cardstock on the front. That way I could make sure that I wouldn’t wind up with half a sentiment. I could also make sure that I had almost the same white space at the top and bottom of the front of the card.
Using the second plate of the Stamparatus, I placed “happy” where I wanted it to be stamped, and tried it out on the copy paper. Success! On to the white cardstock!
I first stamped all the Balmy Blue “BIRTHDAY” sentiments going down the front of the white cardstock. To accomplish this, I simply moved the Stamparatus plate down one notch and restamped four more times.
Then, I stamped the Night of Navy “happy” using the same process of moving the plate down one notch after each stamping.
That’s it! The result looks so cool!
Finishing Up:
Next, I adhered the DSP panel to the right side of the white cardstock for the inside. At first, I thought I would have the stripes line up vertically. However, the vertical stripes with the horizontal lines of the sentiments did not look good at all together. Once I changed the stripes to horizontal. everything on the front of the card flowed nicely.
Since I adhered the DSP first, I was able to pick out a birthday sentiment that would fit on the remaining white panel. I chose “wishing you your BEST year yet” from the Best Year stamp set, also in the annual catalog. I used the Night of Navy ink pad for the inside sentiment.
That’s it. This card came together very quickly. It just might become my go-to card layout when I need something fast!
What’s New? Since you asked, it’s the DSP SALE! The sale ends on Monday, August 2nd.
