If you are joining my blog from the challenge site, you are probably wondering if my card only has triangles on the belly band. I assure you, there are many more triangles on this very difficult to photograph fun fold card!
Here’s my card:
One of my favorite demonstrators on YouTube is JanB with JanB Cards. I watched her video for creating this card. As always, Jan B. makes these fun folds manageable and, relatively, uncomplicated. Her directions are very much step-by-step and I just pause as many times as necessary through the measurements and scoring directions. One of the best things about this card is that it’s base starts with an 11 by 8-1/4 inch piece of cardstock.
I thoroughly enjoy learning new fun folds, and this one is definitely a keeper and I’ve added it to my journal for fun fold directions.
Measurements:
I’ll just share the things I had to adjust for my card because JanB does such a good job with her videos..
I added a belly band in order to keep the card closed. I needed to use two strips of Calypso Coral Each one measured 8-1/2 inches by 2-1/2 inches. After I completed the card, I wrapped the bands around the card, trimmed down the excess and adhered the DSP.
Then, I trimmed two squares of Happy Forest Friends DSP (designer series paper) to 2-3/8 by 2-3/8 inches. Then, I trimmed each into triangles by cutting them diagonally.
The DSP for the back of the belly band covers the overlapping edges of the cardstock. This piece of DSP measures 5-3/8 inches by 2-3/8 inches.
The sentiment for the front of the card comes from the Artfully Layered stamp set. I cropped it using the banner die from the Stylish Shapes die set and added dimensionals. The Calypso Coral and Old Olive mats were adhered using multipurpose glue. I did add a dimensional under the balloon.
The DSP paper for what JanB calls the liner needs to be trimmed an 1/8 inch shorter than the measurements in the video. You will wind up with two squares measuring 2-1/2 by 2-1/2 inches. You’ll need two panels for the sides of the liners, each measuring 5-1/8 by 2-3/8 inches. Finally, the top panel of DSP measures 5-1/8 by 2-3/8 inches.
JanB didn’t add DSP to the top part of the card. I chose to do so. Therefore, I needed to trim a strip of DSP to 5-1/8 by 2-3/8 inches.
Follow JanB’s directions for trimming all these pieces down.
I need to find/make an envelope for this card, which will need to measure 6 by 6 inches on the inside.
Elephant Parade Bundle:
I’ve already made and posted a card using the Elephant Parade bundle, available in the annual catalog. This whole set is so stinking cute!!!!
With the exception of the leaf bundles, I used Momento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp everything. I stamped the leaf bundles using Old Olive ink on Old Olive cardstock.
I used Smokey Slate blends combo for all three elephants. Then, I colored the toenails and tails using a Basic Black Stamping Write Marker. I colored the insides of all the critter’s ears using the SU100 blend. The natural tone blends can be found on page 128 of the annual catalog.
I colored the adorable mouse using the Crumb Cake blends combo.
The small butterflies would’ve been too difficult for me to color using blends. Therefore, I used Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral stamping write markers. I colored the centers of the butterflies using the black marker.
To create the balloons, I first stamped them in black on white cardstock. Then, I stamped just the balloon part on coordinating pieces of 6 x 6 inch DSP. I cropped the balloon pieces and trimmed the string off the DSP balloons. Adhering the two pieces together with multipurpose glue finished off each one.
I used the coordinating elephant dies to crop all the elements already discussed.
The card would’ve been too think if I used dimensionals on the inside. Therefore, I only used them on the outside under the elephant, mouse, butterflies, and one of the leaves.
Additional Products:
The shadows under the two elephants were stamped second generation using Smoky Slate ink. The shadow stamp comes from the Wildlife Wonder stamp set.
The two sentiments on the card come from either the Happy & Heartfelt or Special Moments stamp sets.
Since I wanted to add clouds, I needed to use the cloud and bird dies from the Waves die set. I cropped four of the larger and two of the smaller clouds. Then, I glued two of each together to give the clouds just a bit of dimension. I added texture and color to the clouds by using a blending brush for blue ink. I didn’t add any ink to the brush at all, so the clouds took a little bit of time to color.
I cropped the three birds from scraps of Smoky Slate cardstock.

I used a stamp set and coordinating die set from the upcoming Sale-a-Bration catalog. This promotion starts on July 1, 2022. I earned both parts of this set with a qualifying order of $50 each piece. Adorable and fun doesn’t even begin to describe these Hippest Hippos!
Here’s my card:
Isn’t this hippo just fabulous? I used the stylish shapes dies for the banner and the fish come from the Seas the Day dies, as does the sentiment. I used the same DIY stencil for the clouds that I used on the Color Throwdown post on Wednesday. You can see that post, and the directions for creating the clouds, here. The bird stamp can be found in the Waves of Inspiration set. Other than that, everything comes from the Hippest Hippos set.
Measurements:
The Tahitian Tide base measures 4-1/4 by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches.
I used the 2022-2024 In Color 6 x 6 inch DSP (designer series paper) for the waves at the bottom of the card. There’s a die in the Hippo die set to crop the waves.
Next, I picked a piece of the Parakeet Party In Color DSP for the envelope flap. I trimmed it to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches.
At the same time, I punched a 1 inch circle from the Sweet Sorbet DSP for the envelope seal. After I ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker, I had my finished envelope seal.
The life preserver and the water droplets were both cropped from the same In Color DSP pack.
I needed a piece of white cardstock for the front, and it measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. The white cardstock for the inside of the card measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
I cropped the boat from a scrap piece of woodgrain DSP.
That’s it for measurements.
What I Did:
First, I used Tahitian Tide ink, a blender brush, and the DIY clouds stencil to create the sky for the background of this card. You can find the directions for how I did it here.
Then, I stamped the hippo and sentiment in black ink.
Next, I colored the hippo using the Smoky Slate light and dark blends markers. I used the light petal pink blend for his mouth.
I thought the Sweet Sorbet color would add a pop of brightness to the card, so I used that for the three fish.
Then, I did all the cropping I needed at once. I started with the waves. I’m still not 100% sold on the way they came out, but I do have another card started. My mind has been working through different ways to make the waves work better, but I might just have to visit Pinterest.
I have a layer of Sweet Sorbet topped by a layer of Starry Sky for the life preserver.
Next, I cropped the goggles and snorkle from a scrap of Parakeet Party 6 x 6 In Color DSP.
I finished up by cropping the water droplets from Tahitian Tide DSP, the fish, and the sentiment, for which I used the Stylish Shapes die.
Assembly:
First, I layered the waves on a piece of Tahitian Tide cardstock, then added dimensionals under the cardstock.
Next, I adhered the goggles and snorkle to the hippo and the life preserver to the boat using multipurpose liquid glue.
Then, I added dimensionals under the boat and hippo. Thankfully, the snorkle lies on the face of the hippo so I didn’t need to try to get dimensionals under it.
However, I did need dimensionals under the droplets. I had to cut mini-dimensionals into little, tiny pieces of dimensionals.
HINT: I strongly recommend using scissors with titanium blades so the adhesive doesn’t stick to the scissors. Since I’m left-handed I prefer this pair and this pair, both on Amazon.
HINT # 2: I also strongly recommend reverse tweezers for cardmaking. I’ve got 4 pairs (a bit much, I know) and use them on every project. They take a bit to get used to them, but since they stay closed on their own, they are invaluable. You can find the EK Tools reverse tweezers on Amazon here.
Then, I tucked two fish into the waves and one so that it would peek out from under the sentiment.
Finally, I turned my attention to the sentiment banner. I added a piece of tear and tape to the back of the sentiment so I could easily wrap the Tahitian Tide metallic ribbon around the banner three times. I added dimensionals to the sentiment banner, and adhered it to the card.
I haven’t stamped an inside sentiment yet because the front sentiment covers so many occasions. Therefore, I will add the sentiment when I am ready to use the card.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Welcome to the new Cardz 4 Galz challenge! Billie A, our host for this two week challenge, chose 2 or more DSP patterns for the theme. I decided to use the 6 x 6 inch DSP for the new In Colors for my card. The Natural Prints bundle seemed to be a good choice for these bright 2022 – 2024 In Colors.
Here’s my card:
As a design team member, I really enjoy looking at and commenting on the entries in our galleries. Another perk is that I get introduced to new challenges through the gallery entries, and that’s how I found the Sketch Saturday challenge blog. Here’s the sketch I used for inspiration:
Measurements:
I actually had looked at the wrong page in my planner and thought I needed to make a card used rectangles. However, that challenge isn’t until the end of the month. <shrugging my shoulders> Therefore, with triangles in mind, I decided to used Parakeet Party and Starry Sky accented by Sweet Sorbet DSPs.
The Starry Sky base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
After I ran a piece of white cardstock through my cut and emboss machine using the Fern 3D embossing folder, I trimmed it to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
The Sweet Sorbet DSP mat measures 5-3/8 by 2-1/8 inches. I also used this DSP for the envelope flap, and that measures 6 by 2-1/2 inches.
Then, I trimmed both the Parakeet Party and Starry Sky DSP patterns down to a 2 inch strip. From there, I trimmed three 2 inch squares from each DSP pattern. Next, I cut the two inch squares in half diagonally to create triangles.
I played around with the arrangement of the triangles and finally decided to create parallelograms using the triangles. (Yes, I am that math person and I’ve loved the word “parallelogram” from the time I learned the name of the shape.)
What I Did:
Using the Nature’s Prints stamp set, I stamped the largest spray of leaves in Sweet Sorbet twice. One spray was cropped using the coordinating die and I stamped one on the piece of white cardstock for the inside.
I did the same thing with Starry Sky ink for the wheat-looking sprays. I cropped two for the outside of the card, and stamped one on the white cardstock for the inside.
Then, I stamped the front of the envelope to match the inside card panel.
The sentiment also comes from this same stamp set, and I cropped it using the label in the die set. I wanted the label to stand out from the white embossed background, so I outlined it using my Sweet Sorbet marker.
Next, I added some tear and tape to the back of the Sweet Sorbet DSP panel and cut two lengths of the metallic ribbon. I used a glue dot in the center of the DSP panel so I could create the X with ribbon. The tear and tape on the back held the ends of the lengths of ribbon in place.
I only put dimensionals on the bac of the Sweet Sorbet spray and the sentiment label. My fave adhesive, multipurpose liquid glue, adhered everything else.
I added five of the brushed brass butterflies to the front of the card to finish it off.
After punching a 1 inch circle from the Starry Sky DSP for the envelope seal, I ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and seal set.

Here’s my card:
Amazing!
I used the new gorgeous blue In Color 2022 – 2024 called Starry Sky, and I just love it! The base measures 8-1/2 inches by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
I trimmed a piece of the Sun Prints DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches. for the envelope flap.
Since it’s important to use a 3D embossing folder before trimming the cardstock in order to get an accurate size, I stamped the image first using Starry Sky ink. This gorgeous tree comes from the Amazing Silhouettes cling stamp set.. After embossing it using the bark 3D embossing folder, I trimmed it to 5-1/4 inches by 4 inches.
I embossed another piece of white cardstock using the bark embossing folder. Then, I used the coordinating Amazing Thanks die set. This set includes the words themselves and the matching mats. Staying with my monochromatic color scheme, I cropped the mats from Starry Sky cardstock. After adhering the white and Starry Sky layers, I added mini-dimensionals underneath the matted words. I could’ve used the foam adhesive sheets for the height, but the minis did the trick easily.
While I had the white cardstock out, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card. I didn’t stamp a sentiment on the inside so this can be an all-occasion card.
Finally, I used a length of the new Starry Sky metallic woven ribbon around the white cardstock and tied it in a bow. In order to keep the bow in place and tied, I added a mini-glue dot beneath the bow.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card and envelope set.

Welcome to the new Cardz 4 Galz challenge, #170! I’m hosting this challenge, and I chose fun folds for the theme. I am always looking for new fun folds to try, and I’d love to see your fun folds in the gallery! I hope this post, and the posts from the other design team members, inspires you to play along with us!
Once again, I turned to JanB’s YouTube videos for my inspiration. I have a colleague who hasn’t purchased a store-bought card in the 3+ years he’s been at the school, and I needed an Easter card for him to give his parents. While this may look complicated, it really isn’t, and we will keep that our secret.
I followed right along with JanB’s video and here’s my fun fold card:
If you click on the link for Jan B’s video, you will see that I used Hand-Penned Petals DSP, just as she did. I used all the same measurements that are given in the video. I even put a scalloped circle on the back of the inside of the card, just like JanB.
One Difference:
The only layout difference is that I added a layer under the focal image on the front, as seen below:
If anything was “tricky” about this card, it was this part.
Here’s how I did it:
First, I stamped two images on pieces of scrap white cardstock.
Next, I stamped the flowers and leaves on one image only. In order to coordinate with the DSP, I used Highland Heather and Mint Macaron stamp pads.
Then, I cropped the image using the coordinating die set.
Thankfully, I have plenty of removable tape, and used that to align the colored image with the uncolored image. This allowed me to crop both the images at once using a layering circle die.
After that, all I needed to do was put dimensionals under the colored image and adhere the two pieces.

Right before I was ready to schedule this post, I thought I needed to add some bling to this card. So, I grabbed the coordinating genial gems and added one to the center of each of the flowers in the pull-out part of the card. Here’s pictures of my new and, hopefully, improved card:

Welcome to the Cardz 4 Galz #169 challenge! For this challenge, Caz chose the theme of Spring Flowers for Mother’s Day in the UK. Mother’s Day in the U.S. isn’t until the third Sunday in May, so I went with spring flowers for Easter. I have used so much of the Hand-Penned DSP and bundle lately, so I am adding another one to the collection.
Here’s my spring flowers card:
I’ve had this DSP (designer series paper) for almost a year, and I’m just now really enjoying using it very often. Since Misty Moonlight is retiring with the new 2022-2023 catalog, this paper will be retiring as well.

Measurements:
I started with a Misty Moonlight base. I really, really love this color and am going to be so sad to see it go! The base measures 8-1/2 inches by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
The DSP background measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. I also trimmed a piece of the DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
I cropped the Pale Papaya In-Color DSP mat on under the focal image using a die from the scalloped contours die set.
The white cardstock on the inside of the card measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
That’s it for the measurements. It really is a quick, but beautiful card since the DSP and stamp set do all the work.
What I Did:
Next, I used Momento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the Hand-Penned Flowers image on white cardstock. I could’ve used the coordinating stamps from the stamp set to color in the flowers and leaves, but I chose to use the Pale Payapa and Misty Moonlight blends to color them. Thankfully, this bundle comes with a coordinating die for the floral images so I didn’t have to fussy cut it.
Then, I stamped the sentiment using Misty Moonlight ink and cropped the sentiment using one of the stitched rectangle dies.
I wrapped a piece of the Pale Papaya ribbon around the DSP and tied it in a bow.
I decided that the Pale Papaya mat needed some sort of definition to it, so I used the blunt end of my Stamping Write marker to outline the stitches in the ditch. Then I adhered the mat using multipurpose liquid glue directly to the DSP and over the ribbon.
The floral focal image is popped up on dimensionals, as is the sentiment panel.
For the inside white cardstock panel, I stamped a sentiment. I also stamped a part of the same floral image. After I stamped part of the same image in the bottom corner of the envelope. I did use the coordinating flower stamps on both of these images.
Finally, I added three of the Misty Moonlight In Color enamel dots to the corners of the stitching in the Pale Papaya mat.
After trimming the DSP on the envelope flap and making an envelope seal, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
