A Summer Day for Cardz 4 Galz #205

Welcome to the latest Cardz 4 Galz bi-weekly challenge. Our host for #205, Caz, chose a summer day for the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site and see the cards from the rest of the design team members. There’s plenty of inspiration in the projects created for this challenge. We all look forward to seeing your interpretation of the challenge theme in our gallery.

Let me start by saying that I live in Central Florida. I know many places have brutal weather and other issues. We have had 100+ degree temps, and with the heat index, it’s felt like more than 110 degrees. On top of that, our kiddos came back to school today and going from class to class on an open campus is not fun at all.

That being said, I created this summer card for a friend and his wife, who has been sick and in the hospital. I hope this card brings a smile and more to these two wonderful people!

Here’s my card:

Daisies and Black-eyed Susan flowers are some of my favorite flowers. Combining this DSP (designer series paper) and these cheerful daisies seemed especially appropriate for this card.

Measurements:

  • The Garden Green base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • I used a Crushed Curry mat which measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
  • The DSP on the front measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches. I also trimmed a piece of DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • Next, I punched a 1-inch circle from the same DSP scraps that I used for the center of the die-cut daisies.
  • For the inside of the card, I trimmed 2 pieces of white cardstock to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches and adhered each piece to the inside of the base. There will be 11 people sending get well wishes so I needed both pieces of white cardstock.
  • I cropped the daisies layers from white cardstock using the Cheerful Daisies dies.
  • Then, I cropped the daisy centers from brights 6 x 6 inch DSP scraps. I outlined the centers using an Early Espresso Stamping Write Marker.
  • Crop just the leaves from a scrap piece of Garden Green 6 x 6 inch DSP.
  • Finally, I cropped the large sentiment banner using the Deckled Rectangle dies.

Putting the Card Together:

  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere pieces together.
  • Since I didn’t need to stamp an inside sentiment, I adhered the 2 pieces of white cardstock to the inside of the base.
  • Adhere the daisy DSP to the Crushed Curry mat.
  • Wrap a length of Garden Green ribbon around the mat/DSP layer and tie a bow.
  • Add a glue dot under the bow to keep it in place.
  • Adhere the mat/DSP piece to the base of the card.
  • Adhere the top white cardstock layers of the daisies to the base of the daisies.
  • Adhere the centers of the daisies at this point as well.
  • Trim the Garden Green leaves so you just have those pieces and adhere to the white cardstock leaves.
  • I had the Crushed Curry circle already cropped and in my 8 x 8 page protector of Crushed Curry scraps. Adhere it to the DSP so the largest, and focal, daisy will lay on this “mat”
  • I used dimensionals under the daisies and the leaves.
  • Adhere the daisies to the DSP on the front.
  • Stamp the sentiment from the Good Feelings stamp set using Early Espresso ink.
  • Carefully add dimensionals to the base of the sentiment panel. You don’t want your dimensionals on the sentiment panel to overlap those on the daisies.
  • It’s difficult to see, but I did outline the sentiment panel using my Early Espresso marker.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

P is for…Peony with Cardz 4 Galz #204

Welcome to the 204th Cardz 4 Galz biweekly challenge! Our host, Pamela, chose P is for ….. as the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see the creations from the rest of the design team members. There’s loads of inspiration, and we would love to see your creations in our gallery.

This past school year I had to make a number of sympathy cards, which are always so personal and difficult. After making one of them, I decided to just make one to have on hand if needed. I’ve kept this peony DSP (designer series paper) just for these cards, even though the paper retired a couple of years ago. However, the layout of the card is a basic one and this card came together quickly.

Here’s my clean and simple P is for ….. Peony card:

Making This Card:

  • The Gray Granite base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • Trim the background DSP to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
  • The Petal Pink Peony DSP measures 2-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
  • I trimmed the gray peony DSP to 5 by 2-1/4 inches.
  • After using my embossing buddy I stamped the sentiment on the 2 inch square with VersaMark ink.
  • Then, I covered the sentiment with silver embossing powder and heat set it.
  • The only dimensionals I used were placed under the sentiment square.
  • After using multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the three pieces of DSP, I wrapped a piece of Petal Pink ribbon around the long side of the card and tied it in a bow.
  • After trimming a piece of DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap, I punched a 1-inch circle of coordinating DSP for the envelope seal.
  • After running the seal through my XYRON create-a-sticker, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Have a Peachy Day!

Cats, Kittens, and Cardz 4 Galz, Oh MY~

Welcome to the new Cardz 4 Galz bi-weekly challenge #203 for today,  July 13, 2023.  Our host for this time, Debbie, chose cats or kittens for the theme.  When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the design team created.  There’s also a call for new design team members or guest designers for a month (2 challenges).  If you are interested, you can find the information there.

Here’s my cat card:

Any time I see this cat, I always want to use this sentiment.  Can’t you just hear the sarcasm just looking at him?

While I used the Pampered Pets stamps and DSP, the format of this card appears to be more involved than it really is.  You can use this layout for any card using any supplies.

I have a challenge for you – I just saw that I made a mistake when putting this card together.  Can you find it?  You might not see it, but once you do, you can’t unsee it.

Measurements:

  • Trim Pebbled Path, one of the new In Colors, cardstock to 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, and score at 4-1/4 inches.
  • Trim a piece of Real Red cardstock to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
  • Trim two pieces of coordinating DSP to 3-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches.
  • Trim a piece of DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • Punch a 1-inch circle of DSP for the envelope seal and run it through the XYRON create-a-sticker.
  • Crop a piece of Real Red cardstock using one of the Deckled Rectangle dies. I actually cropped this out of the Real Red background. No one will see the ugly underneath.
  • Fussy cut the cat.
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card.

Assembly:

  • Use multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the Real Red cardstock to the base of the card.
  • Use liquid glue to adhere the DSP pieces on angles going in opposite directions. I prefer to have the top piece angling to the top right of the card because it draws your eyes across the card.
  • Use your embossing buddy to wipe down the red cardstock for the front panel.
  • Stamp the sentiment using Versamark ink.
  • Cover the sentiment with white embossing powder and heat set it.
  • Add dimensionals under the cat and adhere him to the top part of the red cardstock.
  • Tie a tiny bow of Real Red ribbon and adhere to the cat using a glue dot. I was having a real bow-challenged issue with this tiny bow, but it all worked out.
  • I don’t know what sentiment I am going to use on the inside of the card yet. It will depend on the recipient and the situation. Therefore, I used some of the removable adhesive to hold it in place for the time being.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Have a Peachy Day!

A Tri-Fold for Cardz 4 Galz #202

Welcome to the new Cardz 4 Galz bi-weekly challenge #202 for today,  June 29, 2023.  Our host for this time, Helen, chose fun folds for the theme.  If you haven’t noticed, I love fun folds!  When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the design team created.  There’s also a call for new design team members or guest designers for a month (2 challenges).  If you are interested, you can find the information there.

I’ll be entering this one in the Creative Creases challenges as well.

Anything Goes with a Fun Fold for Creative Creases #60

Here;s my tri-fold birthday card for my great-niece’s 7th birthday:

I used Debbie Henderson’s video for all the measurements for this card.  She used the Countryside Inn suite of products.  I used the Bright and Beautiful suite of products along with the deckled rectangle die set. But I, did use her measurements.  The only thing I have to do is get the gift card for her present.  I will add a pocket on the back of the third panel when I get the card.

NOTE:  This card will fit inside a medium white Stampin’ Up! envelope.  However, for mailing in the U.S., it will require additional postage (2 stamps will work) in order to be mailed.

Putting the Card Together:

  • The Bright and Beautiful DSP (designer series paper) is adhered with multipurpose liquid glue, as are the two deckled rectangle pieces.
  • Add dimensionals under all the balloons and decide where your strings need to be stamped BEFORE you adhere the balloons together.
  • HINT: I first cropped out the trio of balloons from the die set in black cardstock. That allowed me to adhere the balloons without having to figure out where to place each balloon.
  • I used the clear Wink of Stella pen to outline the balloons to make the edges more definitive.
  • Stamp the birthday sentiment using Momento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Bright and Beautiful DSP. Crop using the sentiment label die from the Bright and Beautiful die set.
  • Outline the die cut using a Basic Black marker.
  • Adhere a piece of the adhesive foam sheets to a piece of black cardstock.
  • Crop the black cardstock using the same label die.
  • Use multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the sentiment DSP panel to the blackcardstock.
  • Peel off the backing on the adhesive sheet and adhere it to the middle panel of the card.
  • Use baker’s twine to tie a bow through the hole at the top of the sentiment panel.
  • I stamped the sentiments on the deckled rectangle pieces using Misty Moonlight after I adhered the balloons.
  • Trim a piece of Bright and Beautiful DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • Punch another piece of DSP using your 1-inch circle punch for the envelope seal.

Dies or Punches for Cardz 4 Galz #201

Welcome to the newest Cardz 4 Galz bi-weekly challenge!  Our host for #201, Lynda, chose using dies or punches.  When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site and are inspired by the rest of the design team to play along with us!  We love looking at your creations in our gallery, so please join us.

Here’s my card:

I’ve already posted ladybug cards using the black, red, and white color combination. You can see two of them those cards here and here. However, this time, I added a little “Wobble” underneath each ladybug. Here’s a video (sorry it’s such a massive size) to show you how they work:

The Wobbles can be found on Amazon by clicking the link here.

The googly eyes I used can also be found on Amazon here. I like this 750 piece set because it comes in a container with separate sections for each size eyes. In addition, they are self-adhesive and I don’t think I will ever run out. 750 pieces is a bunch of googly eyes!

Creating the Card:

  • Trim a piece of Real Red cardstock to 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches and score at 4-1/4 inches.
  • Trim a piece of DSP (designer series paper – this particular design is from a retired pack) to 3-1/8 by 4-3/8 inches for inside the scalloped border.
  • Trim a coordinating piece of DSP to 6 x 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • After adding the DSP to the scalloped border, add a piece of Real Red ribbon, weaving it through the scallops and tie in a square knot on the front.
  • Punch a 2-inch diameter circle of vellum.
  • Crop the scalloped border using the largest die in the Scalloped Contours die set.
  • Punch two black ladybugs, 2 red wings, and 2 white wings.
  • Stamp the black dots from the Hello Ladybug stamp set on the red wings.
  • Layer the red wings slightly offset from the white wings and adhere with multipurpose liquid glue.
  • Adhere the wings to the ladybugs using the liquid glue.
  • Use your embossing buddy on a scrap of Real Red and Basic Black cardstock.
  • Stamp the sentiments from the Hello Ladybug stamp set using VersaMark.
  • Cover the sentiments with white embossing powder and heat set.
  • After cropping the two sentiments using the Stylish Shapes dies, trim the banner die to size.
  • Add two matte black dots to the end of the banner.
  • Add dimensionals under the Real Red banner and attach to the card.
  • Adhere the black circle with the sentiment to the vellum using liquid glue.
  • HINT: If you use a craft sponge, you can add a light layer of liquid glue to the back of the vellum to adhere it to the DSP. As long as you lightly cover the whole piece of vellum, you won’t see the glue through the vellum. I keep two make-up sponges in an air-tight container so they are always ready to use.
  • Add the Wobbles to the back of the ladybugs and adhere to the card. The Wobbles have two-sided adhesive for the piece attaching to the card and the piece attaching to the ladybug. Just peel off the cover as you would a dimensional, googly eye, or tear and tape adhesive.
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 5-1/4 by 4 inches for the inside. I haven’t stamped a sentiment yet on the inside so I used my (favorite!) removable tape to adhere the inside panel so it doesn’t get separated. Here’s the link on Amazon.
  • After punching a 1-inch circle using coordinating DSP for the envelope seal, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Slimline Birthday for Cardz 4 Galz #200

Welcome to the 200th Cardz 4 Galz challenge!  Amazing!  Our host for #200, Billie A., chose slimline birthday cards as our theme.  When you are finished here, I hope you will pop over to the challenge site to see what the rest of the design team members created.  I thoroughly enjoy watching the projects get posted on the challenge admin site, and I am sure you will be inspired to play along.  Don’t forget to enter your project into our challenge.  I’m that person – the one who creates a card for a challenge and then forgets to post it to the challenge sites.  Not tonight!

At first, I wasn’t sold on the new In Colors for 2023 – 2025, but they are quickly growing on me.  My card for this challenge uses Boho Blue, Copper Clay, the Fresh as a Daisy DSP (designer series paper) and the Fresh as a Daisy Suite Collection (page 110 – 111 in the annual catalog).

Here’s my card

Isn’t the Copper Clay gorgeous with the Boho Blue? Stunning!

Measurements and Such:

  • The Copper Clay base measures 9 by 8 inches, scored at 4 inches.
  • Trim a piece of the Fresh as a Daisy DSP to 4-3/8 by 3-7/8 inches.
  • Crop the daisy pieces and centers from white and Copper Clay cardstock.
  • Stamp the greeting using VersaMark on a scrap of Copper Clay cardstock.
  • Cover the greeting with white embossing powder and heat set.
  • Crop with the banner die from the Cheerful Daisies die set.
  • Wrap a length of white baker’s twine around the DSP 3 times and secure the ends on the back of the DSP using tear-&-tape.
  • Adhere the DSP to the cardstock using multipurpose liquid adhesive.
  • Use white baker’s twine to tie a double bow around the baker’s twine.
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and daisies. Make sure you put the dimensionals on the greeting banner so they straddle the baker’s twine.
  • Adhere the daisies and greeting banner to the DSP.
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4-14 by 3-3/4 inches for the inside of the card.
  • Stamp the greeting and adhere the white cardstock to the inside panel.
  • Use a legal size envelope for this slimline card. The ones I have ae 4-1/8 by 9-1/2 inches.
  • That’s it. This card came together pretty quickly because the DSP does all the work.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Have a Peachy Day!
