Dapper Denim for #GDP110

Have I said before I am a non-traditional Christmas colors kind of person?  I love blues and silvers together for Christmas.  When I saw the sketch for  Global Design Project 110, I knew that I wanted to use the Color Theory DSP stack, specifically the Dapper Denim pieces.  I hope that the card I created tonight is within the framework of the sketch!

I used Dapper Denim ink and Color Theory DSP, Whisper White, silver thread, and my Clear Wink of Stella (it’s very diffcult to see, but the whole sentiment has a couple of layers and the middle tree is covered as well).  The stamp set and dies are from the Carols of Christmas bundle.

My card is definitely BLUE, and I hope the silver thread and Wink of Stella calm it down some what.  This card is all about layers, layers, layers.

Basic Black, Old Olive, and Gold ~ oh my!

#GDP109 is a color challenge this week using Basic Black, Old Olive, and Gold.  Let me start by saying I really am not a yellow gold person.  Silver – all day long.  Not so much with gold.

What better to create with these colors than a Christmas card?  I’d first made this card in Basic Grey, Cherry Cobbler, and silver thread and then again using the #GDP109 colors.  I used the Carols of Christmas bundle, Old Olive and Basic Black cardstock, the fabulous Merry Little Christmas DSP,  gold thread, Stitched Shape die set, and the Sheet Music stamp.  Ink was Basic Grey (for the Sheet Music background), and Basic Black for the sentiment.  After I put the gold thread behind the sentiment I realized it is so fine that it almost can be overlooked and therefore, the card needed more gold.  Enter my Wink of Stella pen, which I used as an accent on the trees at the bottom of the card and ditch surrounding the sentiment from the Stitched Shape square.

I love this stamp set, the whole bundle, the Sheet Music background stamp, and the DSP.  Who would have thought that Black and Old Olive would have made this alternative colors for Christmas person so happy!
