GDP 069/Colour Challenge

GDP 069/Colour Challenge  GDP (Global Design Project) is a weekly challenge starting each Monday.  My upline, Brian King,  is one of the designers for this challenge, so it’s always fun to play along.  This week’s challenge was to use Basic Black, Old Olive, and Calypso Coral.  At first I thought it would be a bit difficult to work these colors in, but when I started playing around, it all fell into place, with inspiration from Mary Fish‘s checkerboard card.

I used Calypso Coral cardstock and some retired DSP for the squares and cut them out using the smallest square on the Simply Stitched framelits.   The punch on the front is new (!!) and coordinates with the Label Me Pretty stamp set.  I simply layered 3 of the punches by cutting the Old Olive and Calypso Coral in half to form the outlines.  I’m pretty pleased, but wish I could have had the patience to do a full checkerboard design instead of the open one.

Here’s my card:

Happy weekend in my blue room!

My Blue Room, aka my room of random stuff, is where all my Stampin Up is stored and happily used.  I spent time CASE’ing (Copy and Share Everything) and creating for card challenges.  I even got one card created to meet two card challenges ~ always a bonus!

Cards with comments and basic supplies used are below.  I want to spend more time in there, but ….. I must grade papers;  I must grade papers;  I must grade papers…… if I say it enough, maybe I will get it done tonight.

#GDP084 Global Design Project

I wanted to give my DH a little surprise while he is gone, so I made this card (following this week’s challenge) and packed it in his carry-on suitcase.  Hopefully he will find it, see his name on the front of the envelope, and open the card.

Loving the hexagon embossing folder, the Urban Underground DSP and cardstock.  Very thankful I also got the Urban Underground embellishments!

Sarah’s wedding card

My step-daughter is getting married this weekend, so I made Sarah and Andy this wedding card.  My DH and DD said it didn’t look like a wedding card, so I added the Mr. & Mrs. and popped it up with dimensionals.  I rather liked the way the (retired Well Scripted) Congratulations kind of encircled the beautiful floral die cut, but neither one was too impressed.   I do like the way the card came out, but am kicking myself for not ordering any more thick Whisper White cardstock.  MUST get some!

I know Sarah will have thank you cards coordinating with her wedding invitations, but since you can never have too many thank you cards, I made her a set of 8 coordinating cards and envelopes.

Enjoy!

One sheet wonder with Botanical Gardens

The template for this one sheet wonder makes 14 cards.  I love the paper but struggled with embellishments.  I kept thinking there should be some products to coordinate with the paper.  After card 7, I realized I have the stamp/die bundle on my shelves.  So, still stuck, I put everything away where it belongs and will move on to a wedding card.  My step-daughter is getting married next weekend and I need to make a card.  I hear Pinterest calling my name.  In the meantime, here are the first 6 cards from the OSW, and the link to the template is https://www.craftsy.com/blog/2015/11/one-sheet-wonder

GDP#083

The Global Design Challenge #083 was for B-L-I-N-G!

The Botanical Gardens DSP is being retired, but I am just now starting to play with the DSP, cardstock (Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze, Hello Honey, Mint Macaron) and the coordinating washi tape.   I LOVE this paper!  I am so bummed that it, and some of the colors, will be retiring.   I also used the retiring Petite Petals punch and the Sunshine die is retiring as well.

Anyway, here’s my BLING card.   I think I put 13 jewels in the centers of the flowers on this card.GDP#083
