Welcome to the latest Make My Monday two-week challenge. Our host for # 183, Debbie, chose “friend”ship. When you are finished here, I hope you will join us at the challenge site to see what the rest of the design team members created. I love that there’s always so many wonderful creations from which inspiration can be drawn. I hope you find something to spark an idea, and that you feel compelled to play along.
For my card, I chose the adorable Elephants on Parade bundle. I combined it with Happy Forest Friends DSP (designer series paper). I knew I wanted to make a double Z-fold card, I just had a difficult time figuring out the measurements for what I wanted to accomplish and wound up doing the card twice. It’s all good though because even the OOPS card is adorable and I’m going to take it to work and just leave it on the bookcase behind my desk.
Here’s my final card:
Since this is a fun fold, I will be entering it in the current Creative Creases challenge. I love fun folds, and this challenge theme is always anything goes with a fun fold. I have to make more fun folds so I can join this fun challenge more often! Check it out if you love creating fun fold cards!
Measurements:
The Old Olive base measures 5-1/2 by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 and 2-3/4 inches.
The Calypso Coral cardstock measures 8 x 4-3/4 inches, scored at 3-3/4 and 5-7/8 inches.
The So Saffron DSP 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 inches.
Both the Old Olive DSP and the leaves pattern DSP on the inside measure 2 by 5-3/8 inches. I also trimmed a piece of the leaves DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. Then, I punched a 1 inch circle from coordinating DSP for the envelope seal.
The tree DSP on the front measures 4-5/8 by 4-1/2 inches. I only needed half the width for the back panel of trees, so it measures 2 by 4-5/8 inches.
Finally, the blank white cardstock also measures 2 by 4-5/8 inches. I left it blank so I can decide on the inside sentiment when I’m ready to use the card. I temporarily attached it with repositionable tape so I can remove it when I need to stamp the sentiment.
All the DSP panels were adhered with my favorite adhesive, the multipurpose liquid adhesive. Before adhering the front trees DSP, I wrapped a piece of Old Olive ribbon around it and tied it in a square knot. This way, the elephants and sentiment don’t just float on the front of the card. The ribbon grounds everything.
Stamping, Coloring, and Cropping:
Since I used the blends for the vast majority of the coloring, I stamped all the elephant elements using the Momento Tuxedo Black ink pad.
Then, I used the light Petal Pink blend, dark and light Smoky Slate blends, and the light Basic Black blend for the elephants.
I used the Calypso Coral and So Saffron Stamping Write Markers. The black marker filled in the body of the butterflies.
Finally, I used the Crumb Cake blends to color the peanut.
I cropped the sentiment using one of the Stylish Shapes dies.
Everything else was cropped using the elephant dies. I decided to use some scraps of 6 x6 inch DSP to crop the balloons. Since I adhered them onto the stamped balloons, I just needed to trim off the excess . I really don’t think I could have colored the balloons half as cute as they turned out by using the DSP.
I used dimensionals for everything on the front panel of the card.
Since I didn’t want to add any more thickness to the card, I adhered everything on the back panel using multipurpose liquid glue.
With that, I’d finished this second coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

I just absolutely love the Ladybug Wishes stamp set and punch and am going to be very sad when it retires at the end of June. However, this is a set that will have a home in my “blue room” (aka studio) for a long time.

Here’s my quick ladybug fun fold card:
Measurements:
I’ve seen this fun fold quite a bit on Pinterest and thought that I needed to just figure out the math and make one of my own. Trust me, if you can score paper, you CAN do this!
The Real Red base measures 8-1/2 inches by 5-1/2 inches. Then, I scored the card at 1-3/8 inches and 2-1/8 inches. I rotated the cardstock 180 degrees and repeated the score lines. They say a picture is worth 1,000 words, so here’s a picture of my score lines:
The measurements on the right are purposely upside down because that’s how I rotated the cardstock 180 degrees.
The black cardstock on the front measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
All the DSP (designer series paper) I used comes from the Pattern Party host DSP set. This DSP will retire with the 2021 – 2022 annual catalog, so if you want this fabulous 48 sheet set, time is running out! I also trimmed a piece to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
The striped DSP on the front measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
I trimmed the white cardstock on the reverse side of the card to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
If you want to decorate both sides of the folded parts you will need to make the following cuts: 4 panels trimmed to 4-1/8 inches by 1-1/4 inches and 2 panels trimmed to 4-1/8 inches by 5/8 inch.
That’s it for the trimming!
What I Did:
I’ve already posted a ladybug card using this same color scheme, and you can see that card here. I used vellum under each ladybug in that card, and wanted to do something similar for this card. Therefore, I stamped the large leaf from the stamp set using my VersaMark ink pad on the vellum cardstock. Next, I covered each with white embossing powder and heat set them. Finally, I fussy cut the leaves. I’m pleased with the results.
Then, I stamped the Real Red wings on white cardstock. The black dots are super easy to add using the dots only stamp set. After that, I punched out two black ladybug bodies and both wings. I used multipurpose liquid glue to attach the wings to the ladybug body and added dimensionals to the underside of the ladybugs.
These darling googly eyes came from Amazon. When I originally ordered them, I needed 6 googly eyes. Of course, I ordered a larger set than just the 6 or so. I ordered a set of 1,200 eyes in varying sizes. It comes in it’s own organizer and the eyes are self-adhesive. What more could anyone possibly want for googly eyes?! You can find the same set I used here.
Since I didn’t need to worry about adhesive showing through the vellum, I was able to use multipurpose liquid glue to adhere them to the DSP.
I used the scalloped die from the scalloped contours for the top panel. I trimmed it to 4-1/8 inches wide.
Before I adhered the scalloped panel to the DSP, I wrapped the end of my Real Red ribbon (from the Playful Pets ribbon set) around the scalloped panel and tied it in a bow. I used glue dots to adhere the bow to the scalloped panel. Since the ribbon is so thin, I was able to use liquid glue to attach it to the DSP.
I added matte black dots to each of the visible scallops.
The HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment comes from the Party Puffins stamp set.
I stamped a sentiment from the Ladybug Wishes stamp set and another ladybug on the white cardstock for the back. This ladybug is a two-stamp process. First, the ladybug is stamped in Tuxedo Black ink. Second, the Real Red insert gets stamped directly on top of the first stamp. Since the set is photopolymer, lining everything up is a snap.
I stamped the same ladybug on the front of the envelope and trimmed the DSP on the flap. Finally, I punched a 1 inch circle for the envelope seal. With that, I’d finished this coordinated, card, envelope, and seal set.

Welcome to Make My Monday # 162! Dawn is hosting this bi-weekly challenge and has chosen the theme of Cute Christmas. When you are done here, I hope you will hop over to the blog and check out all the inspiration from the design team!
Here’s my fun fold card:
Basically, this is a smaller tent fold card inside a bottom flap card. I spent a bit of time on Pinterest looking for an easy fun fold card. when I found this one from Mary Deatherage at Stamps-n-Lingers. I followed all her directions for sizes and folds.
What I Did:
Mary’s videos are always filled with tips and this one is no exception because she shows how to make the beautiful hydrangea she used on the front.
For mine, all the DSP, with the exception of the Bumblebee 6×6 inch DSP on the front, comes from the Sweet Stockings 12 x 12 DSP (designer series paper). My favorite pattern from this pack has to be the Christmas lights pattern.
I cropped the golden retriever using the largest square die in the Stitched Shapes die set.
The sentiments both come from the Greatest Part of Christmas host set from last year. However, any fun sentiment you have would definitely work. For some strange and unknown reason, I didn’t get this whole suite, but I should’ve done so. I stamped both the front and inside sentiments in Cherry Cobbler.
I used a label die from the Painted Labels set to crop the front sentiment. It fit perfectly inside the label die and I thought it added a bit of fun.
The suite also contains a Pool Party striped grosgrain ribbon that I did purchase and wanted to use! I searched for the roll of ribbon and couldn’t find it so I went with the sheer Pool Party ribbon. Of course-, I found the roll of the striped ribbon as soon as I posted this card to the blog design team site. Of course that means I need to create a card with the grosgrain ribbon ASAP.
A Second Card:
Actually, as soon as I typed that last sentence I thought I should just make the card. So, in the middle of getting this post together, I stopped and made a tent card.
Here’s the tent card:
I used the same DSP patterns, and sentiments inside and out. The biggest difference is that I used the ribbon that is a part of this suite. I could’ve easily completed this card in 15 minutes if I didn’t have so much trouble with the ribbon. It took me longer to tie a decent bow than it did to put everything else together..
After I trimmed the DSP on the envelope flaps, and punched/XYRON-ed two DSP circles for seals, I’d finished this two card set of coordinated cards/envelopes/and seals.

Welcome to the Make My Monday challenge #156. I am hosting this challenge and chose a Fun Fold theme for the challenge starting today, August 30, 2021. I’ve seen the design team projects and they are phenomenal! I hope you will pop over to the challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team created. I needed a special thank you card using black and gold with “hornets.” (Yes, I know these are bees, but I am taking creative license, so hornets they are.)

The Video Makes It Easier Than It Looks!
Please don’t be intimidated when you see my card! I used a video tutorial from Connie Stewart for this fold. If you’ve seen any of her videos, you already know she loves quick cards that really WOW the recipient. This card is the same kind of card ~ truly! You will know how relatively easy it was when you follow along with the video. I’d suggest watching the 13 minute video first. Then you can go back and follow the directions for the measurements, which I’ve also included below:
Gold foil backing piece measures 4-1/4 inches by 5-1/2 inches
Black cardstock pieces:
Base measures 5-1/4 inches by 11 inches. Score at 1-3/4 inches, 3-1/2 inches, 5-1/4 inches, and 7 inches.
DSP (designer series paper): if you follow the video, you will see Connie starts with a 6 x 6 inch piece of DSP. She will walk you through the cuts needed. When you are finished, you will have:
2 @ 1-1/2 inches by 5 inches,
2 @ 1/2 x 3-3/4 inches,
4@ 1-1/4 by 2-1/4 inches
1@ 1-1/2 inches by 2 inches (I used the gold polka dot DSP)
I used the gold polka-dot DSP for the front sentiment panel base. This piece measures 2-1/2 inches x 2-1/2 inches.
The white cardstock pieces:
2-14 inches by 2-1/4 inches
5 inches by 7-1/2 inches, scored at 3-3/4 inches.
Assembly:
After all the pieces are cut, you simply assemble. I found the assembly just fell into place because I had everything precut.
I used the Golden Honey DSP, gold foil specialty DSP, and the Bees dies for the accents.
The Peaceful Moments stamp set provided the first two sentiments. Both sentiments inside the white cardstock come from the Best Year cling stamp set.
Please do try this! Connie Stewart’s video really walks you through it step-by-step. I know I will use this fun fold again and again. It’s fabulous!

A friend/colleague’s son graduated 10 days ago. My friend’s son played soccer, our school colors are black and gold, and the mascot is a hornet. Can you guess what retired set I used to make this very special twist and pop card?

The Front of the Card
When this whole bee suite came out for Sale-a-Bration two years ago, I knew that I would be keeping it for quite a while! I had ordered two packs of the DSP (Designer Series Paper) and have been surely but steadily working my way through it for cards related to school ocassions.
What I Did:
First and foremost, while this card still carefully fit in a medium white envelope, it would require extra postage. The final result turned out much thicker than I’d thought it would.
I used Basic Black for the base of the card. It measures 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches to create the tent card.
There’s a very thin border of gold foil used for a mat. I actually trimmed a piece of foil to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
I used another piece of
Happily, I found a hexagon punch so I could punch out a bunch of white and black shapes for the front. For me, dry-fitting was essential for the front of this card’s soccer ball look. I think I achieved the look of a soccer ball.
In order to keep the soccer/hexagon theme consistent throughout the card, I used a number of DSP hexagon patterns. Before cropping or trimming anything else, I played around with the layers for the required elements.
When I create special-order cards, I send the orderer (is that even a word?) a number of sentiments to have them pick what they want. The front sentiment, from Beautiful World, and the two sentiments on the inside were hand-picked for this card.
I used the coordinating set of bee dies to crop the honeycombs out of gold foil. Thankfully, the bees on one DSP pattern perfectly matches the bee dies in the set.
The stitched nested labels seemed to fit the sentiment and the front of the card perfectly.
Time for the Inside:
Once again, I turned to another retired product, the large numbers dies, for the inside of the card.
I could try to explain how to create the book (part with the 2021) and the mechanism that is responsible for the magic. However, Mary Deatherage from Stamps-n-Lingers has a wonderful step-by-step video to follow. No matter how many times I create this fun fold card, I always start with rewatching Mary’s video. You can find that video here. A couple of things to note if you are trimming paper as you follow the video: the mechanism measures 2-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches. Mary will go back and correct herself. The second thing to note: when Mary answers a question directed to Sue, that’s me! Really, this video is fabulous, as are all her videos.

Debbie Mageed is a fellow demonstrator in the Mary Fish’s team of Pals and has started a Creative Creases Challenge. The current one runs through Thursday, April 29. She created an adorable shadowbox frame card using the Snail Mail suite of products.
My step-daughter and her husband just welcomed a baby boy to their family. I waited to find out whether the baby was a boy or girl before I made a card, so this is what I created:
I used the retired Twinkle, Twinkle DSP, the current Stitched So Sweetly die set, and Kangaroo and Company bundle.
Debbie’s blog post included a link to a tutorial video by Dawn Griffith. When I followed the link, I found a plethora of shadowbox frame card tutorials. I picked this video, mainly because I liked the flowers. This fun fold card is truly one of the least complicated fun folds ever! Just don’t tell the recipient because they will think you created something that took a long time to create.
What I Did:
Dawn’s directions are super easy to follow! I started with two pieces of the Twinkle, Twinkle DSP trimmed to 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches. Just follow her directions for the scoring, and you will have the two main pieces for the card finished in minutes. Just don’t adhere them together until you’ve finished adhering everything inside the shadowbox.
I used the Stitched So Sweetly die to crop out the center shadowbox frame.
Then, I used the same die to crop a piece of coordinating Twinkle, Twinkle DSP for the inside/back of the frame.
Next, I used the same die and the next largest die to create a frame for the outside in Soft Sea Foam cardstock. I very carefully lined up and then adhered the frame to the front of the cut-out.
The tiny sentiment also comes from the Kangaroo and Company stamp set. I stamped it using the Momento Tuxedo Black ink and cropped it from another die in the Stitched So Sweetly set.
The mat for the sentiment is yet another die from the set. I cropped it from a scrap piece of Soft Sea Foam DSP.
Time for the Star of the Card: the Mom and Baby Kangaroo
I stamped both the mom and baby in Momento Tuxedo Black. I colored them with the Gray Granite blends combo and the dark Petal Pink blend.
Then I just cropped them using the coordinating die set. What’s so perfect about the mother die is that a line will be cut across the top of the pouch at the same time.
Since I didn’t want the baby to just lay flat on the mom, I only used a dimensional on the bottom of the baby on the back of the mom. Actually, I used dimensionals to pop up the whole mom/baby combo.
At this point, I thought I had finished the card, but knew I needed something else to make it complete. I snapped a shot of the card and sent it to a friend asking for help. She suggested a moon, so that’s what I did. I created the moon using the 1 inch circle punch. I punched out a circle, put a post-it on the circle so I could line it up again. The second punch created the crescent moon I needed.
Of course, a moon needs to sparkle, so I used the clear Wink of Stella pen to bling it up. Then I decided to step the Soft Sea Foam frame up a notch. Since I’d already adhered the frame, I very carefully applied Wink of Stella to that.
Finally, I’d completed the card. I trimmed a piece of DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches, adhered it to the envelope flap and trimmed it down. After running the coordinating DSP punched circle through the XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal, I had finished the whole coordinated set.
