Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, the theme is “All Creatures Great and Small.” We hope to inspire you with our creations today! You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I used the By Your Side kit for my cards for this hop. I made the first one following the kit directions. I used the same adorable pup for the second fun fold card as an alternative. We had a schnauzer, Brandy, when I was growing up and this cutie looks like him.

Here are my cards:

I’ve made a number of joy fold cards recently, and I used Rachel Tessman’s directions and video. You can see on of the alternate cat card from this kit here. Some of my previous joy fold cards can be found here and here. Here’s another look at one of my joy fold cards:

This Thoughtful Journey DSP (designer series paper) is just gorgeous with this joy fold! As always with fun fold cards, I will be entering this into the current Creative Creases Challenge.

Measurements:

I’ve had to adjust my measurements slightly to allow for the schnauzer on the front of my card. However, please, please, please use Rachel’s printable and video while creating this card.

HINT: When creating a card by following the directions on a video, I always watch the video first, and then make decisions about the supplies I will need. I get my stamping done and am then ready to start. This way, I can follow along with the video to make all my cuts and score lines, and assemble the card.

Stamping, Dry Embossing, & Assembly:

  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the pieces together, especially since this card already has a number of layers
  • I used a Blackberry Bliss base for this card
  • The center panel on the front flap is also Blackberry Bliss, which I embossed using the exposed brick embossing folder
  • All the stamps and the acrylic block come with the By Your Side kit
  • The white banner comes with the kit, and I trimmed off the black polka dot bottom and outlined the banner using a Blackberry Bliss marker
  • I stamped both sentiments using Blackberry Bliss ink as well as the bones on the inside and envelope flap
  • I used Wild Wheat to stamp all the paws
  • The gold heart comes with the kit
  • I did add dimensionals under the schnauzer to adhere him to the front of the card
  • Finally, I punched a 1-inch circle from a leftover piece of the embossed Blackberry Bliss cardstock and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker
  • With that, I’d finished this adorable coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set
