Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
This month our theme is Summer Vacation. We hope to inspire you with our creations today! You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
I really had to think outside of the box for this month’s card. I was very sick, which kept me sidelined for most of my summer break as I recovered. Therefore, trying to come up with a card for my summer vacation took some serious thinking. When I finally was able to focus, I started reading. A lot! The only way I was able to create cards was by using the templates on page 22 of the SU! annual catalog. As a result, my card is a book fold card with a layout from one of the templates.
Here’s my summer vacation fun fold card:
Here’s a picture of the templates from page 22:
You can see a sample of the cards I made using these templates here, here, and here.
Of course, since this is a fun fold, I will be posting it on the Creative Creases Challenge. This challenge is always Anything Goes with a Fun Fold. If you like fun folds as much as me, this biweekly challenge is for you!
Measurements:
- I used Copper Clay for the base, Trim it to 11 by 4-1/4 inches. Score it at 4-1/2 and 5-1/2 inches to create the book fold
- You need two pieces of Boho Blue for the mats. The first piece measures 4-3/8 by 4-1/8 inches. The second piece measures 4-1/8 by 7/8 inches.
- You also need two pieces of the Take to the Sky DSP (designer series paper). The first measures 4-1/8 by 3-1/4 inches. The second measures 4 by 3/4 inches.
- Trim a coordinating piece of DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches.
- Punch a 1-inch circle and run it through your XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal.
- Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4 by 4 inches for the inside panel of the card.
- I used scraps for the sentiment banner and the layers.
- I stamped the clouds in the center of the Boho Blue layer and then cropped them out. No one will see the ugly cutouts once the DSP is adhered.
Stamping, Cropping, & Assembly:
- Unless otherwise noted,, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere pieces together.
- Adhere the Boho Blue cardstock to the base of the card.
- Then, adhere the Take to the Sky DSP pieces to the Boho Blue cardstock.
- Trim the largest cloud formation so that a 3/4 inch piece will fit on the thin piece of DSP.
- Add dimensionals to both pieces of the clouds and adhere to the DSP.
- Stamp your sentiment from the Adventurous Sky stamp set in Night of Navy ink.
- Trim the sentiment panel and two additional pieces of DSP.
- Adhere the layers together and add dimensionals under the bottom piece to adhere to the DSP on the front.
- Add dimensionals to the middle sized cloud and adhere under the sentiment.
- Adhere the smallest cloud formation under the sentiment banners.
- Stamp some clouds on the outside of the white cardstock for the inside panel.
- Stamp another sentiment from the Adventurous Sky set in Night of Navy and adhere to the base of the card.
- With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
