Welcome to InKing Royalty’s October Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month’s projects celebrate Thanksgiving, so prepare yourself for Autumn landscapes, warm colors and sweet reminders of all the reasons we have to be grateful this time of year. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
#buildyourstashholidayhop
I saw this sketch, by Crystal O. Minkler, on Instagram. This sketch challenge is just the second of the Build Your Stash Holiday Hop. Another place for sketch inspiration is always a good thing!
Here’s my card:
Here’s the sketch from Instagram:
Following the Sketch
The base of the card is Cajun Craze, trimmed to 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches and scored at 5-1/2 inches. The Very Vanilla cardstock for the inside of the card is trimmed to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
I followed the measurements exactly as shown on the sketch. I really thought there would be too much bulk with all the layers, but there really isn’t. All of the patterned paper, including the speckled base, comes from the Gilded Autumn DSP pack. Not only are the colors gorgeous, the patterns are all spectacular! Best part – it’s 15% off until the end of the month! SCORE!
The only place I used dimensionals was under the short ends of the sentiment panel. This allowed the sentiment to lay flat over the multiple layers of DSP and cardstock.
The Inside
I used Stamping Write markers on the four leaf stamp from Autumn Greetings to create the inside stripe on the side of the card. I colored each leaf a different color; Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, and Crumb Cake. However, I did stamp the same pattern each time.
The sentiments on the front and the inside are also from Autumn Greetings. It’s such a beautiful stamp set, and I just love the font!
I used a Very Vanilla envelope and trimmed a piece of the speckled DSP to 2-1/5 inches by 6 inches for the envelope flap. After I finished adhering that DSP to the flap, I trimmed it down. Ta-Da! I’d completed another card/envelope set.

I love this layout and sketch! You made it wonderful.
Great job on the sketch and thanks for the tip on locating them on instagram. Sketches are always welcome when trying to create.
Thanks, Lynn! My daughter played with my Instagram and within a month I went from about 50 followers to almost 500. This sketch challenge came up on my feed so I guess I am following them as well. :o)
Thanks, Jackie! You certainly are an early riser!
You made a very pretty card with a fun sketch. I like how you used the designer papers together for a very nice card.
Thanks, Linda! I just love all but one of the patterns in this set. I have about 20 more Thanksgiving cards to make. So far, each one is different.
Great card and sketch challenge. I really like how the designer series papers compliment each other. That would not have been in my head, but I love it!
Thanks, Renae! I did play around with the different pattern combinations before I settled on these papers.
Sue, beautiful way to showcase this sketch. Your DSP choices work so perfectly together. I love it!!! Bravo!!!
Thanks so much, Pam! Following all the measurements from the sketch made this card super easy.
Combination of DSPs is fabulous! What a lovely card.
Thanks, Sheryl! This wasn’t my first combination, but playing around with the DSP landed this combination.
You really brought this sketch to life with your paper choices, Sue! Such a great card – so glad you hopped with us today! ♥
Thanks, Brian! I am pretty sure I will be using this group’s sketches again. Maybe one of them will be with your color combination from today’s hop!
I love how you used all those different patterns of paper together! It’s a great card!
Thanks, Candy! I love all but one of the patterns in this set. Sometimes it is difficult to figure out which side to use.
Wow! You used 4 of the patterns in this DSP! I would never have thought to do that but you produced a great card!
