#tgifc244 and FMS416

The TGIF Challenge #244 and the Freshly Made Sketches #416 challenges worked together perfectly for my New Year’s card. I combined some retired SU! products with Night of Navy cardstock and ink, silver foil, and the Everything Festive stamp set from the holiday catalog for this card. The TGIF challenge gave me the ideas for the foil, and Freshly Made Sketches provided the layout. Score!

Here’s my card:

Retired Items

The specialty DSP on the front cover is from the 2018 SAB catalog. I used the last sheet on the right, and here’s an image of this retired paper:

147193 - Stampin' Up! Sale-a-Bration Choice Springtime-Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper FREE with $50 order #dostamping #springtimefoils #saleabration #stampinup shop at: http://dostamping.stampinup.net

I can almost hear you thinking that none of these sheets have Night of Navy background. The gorgeous thing about these DSP sheets is that the background will take color easily. Therefore, I used a brayer and coated the DSP with Night of Navy ink and then wiped it off for a flawless finish.

A little hint – I tried doing the same thing on the foil side of the First Frost paper. However, it didn’t work well at all.

While I don’t have the Celebrate You thinlits any more. Before I sold them almost a year ago, I did have the forethought to crop “Celebrate” out of silver foil, so I had a few sentiments ready to use. In order to have the sentiment stand out from the foil DSP, I backed it with vellum cardstock, which is current. Hiding the adhesive was pretty easy once I used the Tombow liquid adhesive on the sentiment. After attaching the sentiment to the vellum, I placed glue behind the sentiment to adhere the vellum to the DSP. I needed to get the corners adhered, so I used the retired metallic stars.

Both Challenges are Still Open.

If you decide to play along with one or both of the challenges, I’d love to see what you create! Have fun, use pretty foils, follow the fresh and clean sketch, and celebrate 2020!

As always,

Thank you so very much for stopping by my blog today. I appreciate your the time you take to read, and comment, on my blog.

Have a Peachy Day!
