Welcome to the 329th edition of the biweekly Cardz 4 Guys challenge. Our host this time, Caz, chose Going to the Beach for the theme. I used the Oceanfront stamp set for the first time since I bought it. I’m sure we all have stamp sets sitting on our shelves that haven’t been used. Frankly, this one intimidated me. After a few failed attempts, I think I’ve got something that works, at least my husband seems to think so.

Here’s my Oceanfront card:

I did go back and add some white caps between the water and the sky using a gel pen. It’s difficult to see in the photo, so here’s a close-up:

I might have to go back and add more white gel ink to it so it’s more distinctive.

Measurements:

The Boho Blue base measure 5-1/2 by 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
Both the outside bottom white layer and the inside panel were cropped using the largest deckled rectangle die.
I started with a piece of white cardstock measuring 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 for the stamped and cropped top layer. After I did all my stamping, I cropped this piece using the second largest deckled rectangle die.
You will need a scrap of white cardstock for the sentiment.
I used a 2-1/2 by 6 inch piece of the Pebbled Path DSP (designer series paper) for the envelope flap.
My final “cut” was to punch a 1-inch circle of Boho Blue DSP for the envelope seal. As always, I ran the circle through my XYRON create-a-sticker.

Stamping:

I wanted this simple and calm, so I only used Boho Blue, Pebbled Path, and Old Olive inks.
I started by stamping off sky stamp using Boho Blue and stamped it twice.
Then, I used a blending brush to get more of a mottled look.
Next, I stamped the water stamp in full strength Boho Blue.
I added white dots to the water line placing a couple of dots of white craft ink on an acrylic block. Then I stamped the dots along the water line.
I did go back and add white gel ink between the water and the sky to create the look of white caps.
Next, I stamped the shore using Pebbled Path ink. I wanted the shore to be cropped by the deckled rectangle die, so I used the stamp with the two rocks to add some dimension and texture under the shore.
I used Old Olive for the grasses on either side of the shore.
Since I’m not sure of the occasion or recipient yet, I only stamped some Old Olive grasses on the bottom inside of the card.
At the same time, I stamped grass on the bottom, left-hand front of the envelope.
After cropping the front layer, I added dimensionals under the front layer to adhere it to the bottom white cardstock layer.
Then, I stamped the sentiment from the Something Fancy stamp set and cropped it with a small deckled rectangle die. I added dimensionals only on the end that sticks out over the Boho Blue cardstock. The part of the sentiment that goes over the oceanfront is adhered with multipurpose liquid glue.
With that, I’d completed this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
