A Double Box Fold for the January Sparkles Christmas Challenge #181

Welcome to the February Sparkles Christmas Challenge #181! I can’t believe it’s already February ~ what happened to January and the somewhat good weather for Central Florida? The wind chills this weekend are in the teens so we are under severe weather/freeze warnings. Craziness!

Please check out the challenges page for the creations by the other very talented design team members. When you’ve created your own card using our theme, please don’t forget to upload them to the challenges. We’d love for you to play along.

Dawn, our host for the Sparkles Christmas Challenge, chose Baubles for the theme. I used the Modern Christmas suite and created a double box fold card.

Here’s my card:

I’ve already posted cards using this same fold, and you can see them here, here and here.

I originally found this card on the Wandering Stamper’s YouTube channel. You can see that tutorial here.

As always with a fun fold card, I will be adding this to the Creative Creases Challenge where the theme is always Anything Goes with a Fun Fold.

Template:

Of course, I had to make a template for this fun fold, which you can see below:

Hints:

  • I find it much easier to watch a video than trying to follow written directions, so I highly recommend you watch the Wandering Stamper’s video after you use the above template to trim your papers
  • Another thing I find that works for me is to trim all my papers before starting anything else on the card
  • Once all the pieces are trimmed, I can add the DSP (designer series paper) to the envelope flap and put all the pieces in the envelope until I can finish it
  • Since this card will be hand-delivered, I didn’t need to worry too much about the bulkiness of the card
  • If you do need to mail the card, you very well might have to use extra postage even without using any dimensionals., ribbon, or enamel dots

Endless Love for Valentine’s Day!

I’ve been making class sets of Valentine’s Day cards for my current second-grade great-niece and current kindergarten great-nephew for a few years. This year, I will be using the Endless Love Suite. Even though the DSP is currently unavailable, the bundle is still available and I will be busy using it for the next 10 days or so. It’s so much easier to figure out a couple of designs for each class and just mass-produce the cards. I use the Basic White Note Cards & Envelopes, and cut each notecard in half for a mini-postcard Valentine.

Here’s a look at the bundle and note cards:

This is a Two-Step Stampin’ set; it allows you to layer two or more images to create one final image with extra texture and dimension in the colors you want.

DETAILS
– Includes the Endless Love Stamp Set and Endless Love Dies
– 16 photopolymer stamps
– Suggested clear blocks (sold separately): b, c, d, h
– Two-Step
– Also available in French
– 13 dies
– Largest die: 3-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ (9.5 x 10.8 cm)
– Use with a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (sold separately)

Modern Christmas Cards for the December Pals’ Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, the Pals have been busy creating cozy, frosty, whimsical card ideas and paper crafts for our Winter Wonderland theme — using our favorite Stampin’ Up! goodies. Each project brings a different twist, and that’s what makes the hop feel like a stroll through a creative winter village. If you’re looking for inspiration (or maybe a reason to stay inside with your craft supplies), this hop is for you!

Once again, I chose to use the Modern Christmas Suite of products to create two 4-panel accordion cards. I am thoroughly enjoying this fun fold and for this hop I used one 12″ by 12″ piece of DSP for these two cards.

Here are my cards:

I’ve already posted two other 4-panel accordion fold Christmas cards using the same suite of products. You can see those posts here and here. I am looking forward to making many more cards using this suite of products and fun fold.

As always with a fun fold card, I will be adding this to the Creative Creases Challenge where the theme is always Anything Goes with a Fun Fold.

Measurements:

The extra cardstock piece for the back isn’t necessary because the card will stand up without it. However, I just wanted extra stability.

I added two pieces of 1/2 by 5-1/4 inches strips on either side of the first score line at 1-3/4 inches so I could add the baker’s twine without worrying about it tearing the DSP. Since I used the two 1/2 inch strips of DSP left after trimming each half to 5-1/2 inches. When everything was said and done, I only had two little pieces of leftover DSP, each measuring 1/2 inch by 1 inch.

I needed to crop 4 black arches and 4 white arches. I just realized that the arches on the card with the white on black tree are larger than the other card. I think I like the larger arches, but the smaller set shows more of the DSP on the front.

I embossed the white cardstock arches for the fronts of the cards using the Birchwood embossing folder.

I used the smaller arch die for the sentiments.

Don’t forget to trim a piece of coordinating DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.

I also punched a 1-inch circle from another DSP pattern and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker.

I cropped the large star and tiny gold stars using the dies from the suite of products. The star on the back of the card is actually covering a smudge of black ink, but that can just be our secret.

What I Did:

  • I added dimensionals on the back of the cropped sentiments on the front and glue dost to hold the baker’s twine bow in place
  • For everything else, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere pieces together since this card is already bulky
  • This will fit in a medium SU! envelope, but it will require additional postage
  • I adhered the front flap down so the extra pieces of DSP I used for the baker’s twine support are covered
  • I used embossing white and black embossing powder for the tree and sentiments on the inside and front
    • For all areas to be embossed, make sure you wipe down the papers using your embossing buddy
    • Cover the areas with either black or white embossing powder and heat set using your heat tool
    • Make sure to allow the embossed images to cool before cropping to prevent smudging
  • Crop the tree using the Ornamental Christmas die included in the suite of products
  • Adhere both sentiment panels together
  • Add liquid glue on the left half of the front sentiment panel and adhere it to the front flap
    • Adhering to just the front flap is especially important if you are not going to glue the flap down
  • After adhering the front sentiment, open the card and position the inside sentiment arches face down on the back of the front sentiment
    • This will allow you to make sure you line up both sentiment pieces so the inside doesn’t show when the card is closed
  • Add liquid glue to the back of the inside sentiment panel, then fold the back of the card over the panel
  • TA-DA! Perfect placement!
  • I did add another holiday sentiment on the back of the card, which has room for a personal message as well

With that, I’d completed this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

A Modern Christmas Accordion Fold for the Creative Creases Challenge # 110

Once again, I am honored to be a guest designer for the December Creative Creases Challenge #110. As always, the theme for the challenge is Anything Goes with a Fun Fold, and if you’ve been following my blog you already know I love finding new fun folds! Here’s the link to the Creative Creases Challenge #110! I hope you will play along with the challenge, then upload your creations to the challenge site.

Initially, I wasn’t going to get the Modern Christmas Suite of products because I already had what I thought I needed for Christmas card. Then I started seeing projects created with these gorgeous products and knew I had to have it.

Here’s my 4 panel accordion fun fold card using the Modern Christmas Suite:

I just posted another 4 panel accordion fold card using the Modern Christmas Suite on Monday. You can find that post here. However, I really love this card and want to make as many of them with the black DSP patterns as possible! Stay tuned!

Measurements:

I used the template I created following Connie Stewart’s tutorial from April 3, 2025. You can find another challenge card I created using this template here.

Here’s the template I used:

The extra cardstock piece for the back isn’t necessary because the card will stand up without it. However, I just wanted extra stability.

I added two pieces of 1/2 by 5-1/4 inches strips on either side of the first score line at 1-3/4 inches so I could add the baker’s twine without worrying about it tearing the DSP.

Don’t forget to trim a piece of coordinating DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.

I also punched a 1-inch circle from another DSP pattern and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker.

The two white cardstock panels for the mats on the front and inside measure 3 by 4-1/8 inches.

The black cardstock panels measure 2-7/8 by 4 inches.

I used scraps of black and white cardstock for the Christmas tree and the front sentiment circle.

I cropped the large star and tiny gold stars using the dies from the suite of products. The star on the back of the card is actually covering a smudge of black ink, but that can just be our secret.

What I Did:

Ornamental Christmas for Make My Monday & Creative Creases

Welcome to the newest Make My Monday bi-weekly challenge #266. Our host, Heather, chose Christmas Trees for the theme. I used the Modern Christmas suite collection.

When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

Here’s my card:

As always with a fun fold card, I will be adding this to the Creative Creases Challenge where the theme is always Anything Goes with a Fun Fold.

The two black cardstock pieces for the sentiment panels measure 3 by 4-1/8 inches

The gold foil specialty DSP pieces measure 2-7/8 by 4 inches.

What I Did:

  • I added dimensionals on the back of the white Christmas tree on the front and the glue dot to hold the baker’s twine bow in place
  • For everything else, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere pieces together since this card is already bulky

  • I adhered the front flap down so the extra pieces of cardstock I used for the baker’s twine support needed to be covered

    • Embossing on the gold foil was easier than I thought it would be
    • For all areas to be embossed, make sure you wipe down the papers using your embossing buddy

An Ornamental Christmas for Creative Crafters #94 & Sunday Stamps #373

Welcome to my one card, two challenges post. As always, the theme for The Creative Crafters challenge # 94 is Anything Goes. This month I have a Christmas card made with the Modern Christmas suite collection. I used the SSC373 sketch for my card, so I will upload this card to that gallery. I hope you will visit the design team members’ blogs for some gorgeous inspiration! We can’t wait to see what you create, so please remember to upload your creation to our gallery.

Here’s my card:

Here’s the Sunday Stamps sketch banner:

When I purchased the Peace on Earth suite collection I told myself that I could make all the Christmas cards I needed with that suite. Then I saw the Modern Christmas suite and knew I “had” to have it! This is the first card I’ve made with the products, and I can’t wait to keep playing with them, although the DSP (designer series paper) is almost too beautiful to cut up!

Measurements:

  • Trim a piece of black cardstock to 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, and score at 4-1/4 inches to create a tent card
  • Choose a background DSP and trim it to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches
  • You will need a strip of DSP for the bottom, and I trimmed that piece to 1 by 5-3/8 inches
    • I find it easier to adhere strips like this over the bottom of the background DSP rather than try to fuss with measurements to create the size I need
  • Trim a piece of coordinating DSP to 1 by 5-3/8 inches for the bottom of the inside of the card
  • I trimmed a piece of the fa la la DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • Then I punched a 1-inch circle of the striped DSP and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card
  • I used scraps of black and white cardstock for the tree and the sentiment on the front of the card

A Quick Card:

Once I figured out what DSP patterns I was going to use, the rest of the card fell into place. I love that the simple sketch was enhanced by the DSP, which does all the work on this card.

  • Both the tree and the sentiment on the front are heat embossed
    • First, make sure you rub your embossing buddy over the cardstock to be stamped and embossed
    • After cleaning the cardstock with the embossing buddy, stamp your images using VersaMark ink
    • Cover the ink with WOW! embossing powders, and flick off the extra, or use the brush from the embossing additions kit to remove any excess powder
    • Heat set with your heat tool
    • Make sure you allow the embossing images to dry before trying to crop them
  • Crop the sentiment using one of the rounded rectangles from the Nested Essentials die set
  • Crop the tree using the Ornamental Christmas tree die
  • Unless otherwise noted, I adhere the pieces together with multipurpose liquid glue
  • Adhere the strip on the bottom of the front piece of DSP
  • At this point, I pulled out my gold Wink of Stella brush and outlined the tree, sentiment, and the DSP background of the front of the card
  • Using the gold and white baker’s twine from the suite, wrap it around the line where the two pieces of cardstock come together
    • I used tear-&-tape to adhere the ends on the back of the card
  • Use another length of baker’s twine to tie a square knot around the wrapped pieces
    • I wanted to use a bow, but I am completely bow-challenged at the present time
  • Adhere the DSP to the front of the base of the card
  • Add dimensionals behind the tree and adhere it to the front of the card
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the sentiment so that it fits over the tree, then use liquid glue to adhere the corner to the tree
  • Adhere the tree and sentiment to the front of the card
  • Crop a star from the gold foil DSP, add a mini-dimensional to the back of it and adhere it to the top of the tree
  • Stamp the inside sentiment using Momento Tuxedo Black
  • Add the 1-inch strip along the bottom of the white cardstock and adhere to the inside of the card
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set
