Welcome back to the Cardz 4 Galz challenge, # 212! Our host for this time, Helen chose dry or wet embossing techniques as the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see the projects from the rest of the design team members. Of course, we’d love for you to play along with us and post your creations in the gallery.
For this challenge, I chose to use the Autumn Leaves bundle, burlap ribbon, and coordinating specialty DSP (design series paper). I’m still making Thanksgiving cards, which I need to finish before next week. I’ve used this sentiment on most of the cards, with a simple Happy Thanksgiving sentiment on the inside.
Here’s my card:
Measurements:
The Pretty Peacock base measures 11 by 4-1/4 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches to create a tent fold card.
The oxidized copper specialty DSP measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches. I cropped the banner behind the sentiment label on the front from this piece of DSP. No one will see the ugly underneath.
AFTER I dry embossed the piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using one of the basics embossing folders, I trimmed it to 4 by 5-1/4 inches.
HINT: When using embossing folders, I highly recommend that you trim your paper after you dry emboss it, especially with 3D embossing folders. The embossing is so deep, if you trim your paper first, you will wind up with a smaller piece of cardstock than you wanted.
I trimmed a piece of the oxidized copper and Pretty Peacock DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
Then, I punched a 1-inch circle of coordinating DSP and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal.
Stamping, Cropping & Embossing:
All of the dies and stamps I used come from the Autumn Leaves bundle.
Stamp the double leaves in Pretty Peacock onto Pretty Peacock cardstock or DSP and crop.
I cropped the large maple leaf from the copper and Pretty Peacock specialty DSP.
Both twig sprays were cropped from copper foil specialty DSP scraps that I had left over from previous projects.
The large piece maple leaf veins (for a lack of a better descriptor) was cropped from Pretty Peacock cardstock.
After wiping down a scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with my embossing buddy, I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark.
Then, I covered the VersaMark with copper embossing powder and heat set it.
Next, I cropped it using one of the dies from the bundle.
Let the Layering Begin:
My adhesive of choice is the TomBow multipurpose liquid glue. I’m kind of obsessed with making sure that I will never run out of it and always have at least 15 tubes waiting to be opened. It’s a great item to add to your cart when you are so close to the $150 (US) dollars purchase needed for Stampin’ Rewards.
The dry embossed Very Vanilla cardstock was adhered to the oxidized copper DSP using multipurpose liquid glue.
Then I adhered the layers to the Pretty Peacock base.
I used liquid glue to adhere the double leave and copper foil twig sprays to the cardfront.
Then I used some glue dots to adhere the burlap ribbon on top of those cropped pieces.
Adhere the Pretty Peacock leaf veins to the cropped maple leaf.
Add dimensionals to the back of the maple leaf and adhere on top of the ribbon.
Adhere the sentiment label to the cropped oxidized copper DSP.
Add dimensionals to the bottom of the sentiment labels. Use liquid glue to adhere the top of the sentiment label to the maple leaf.
I finished it off with three small speckled Copper Clay dots on the top, right side of the card.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
15% off inks, including pads, refills, markers, and Blends. Bundles are not included.
20% off papers, including cardstock, specialty paper, and Designer Series Paper.

Welcome back to the Cardz 4 Galz challenge! Our host for challenge # 211, Lynda, chose thank you, or thankful, or Thanksgiving for our theme. I am still working on the Thanksgiving cards I will need, so that’s what I created. When you are finished here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see the fabulous creations made by the rest of the design team members. We’d love to see your creations, so don’t forget to upload them to our gallery.
Here’s my most recent Thanksgiving card:
For the life of me, I can’t remember which sketch challenge inspired this card. I can see the sketch in my mind, but neglected to write down to which challenge it belongs. I’ve tried searching (and searching) for it to no avail.
Measurements:
The Cajun Craze base measures 4-1/4 by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches.
The All About Autumn DSP (designer series paper) measures 4-1//8 by 5-3/8 inches.
I trimmed a coordinating piece of the Autumn DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
I punched a 1-inch circle from coordinating cardstock to use for the envelope seal. Run the 1-inch circle through your XYRON create-a-sticker for the seal.
The Countryside Corners die is cropped from a piece of 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inch Cajun Craze cardstock.
HINT: If you crop the Countryside Corner die from the middle of the piece of cardstock, you will have a piece leftover that you can use as a mat for another card. Once you cover the cardstock, no one will be able to see the ugly empty space.
Trim a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card.
Use a scrap of Very Vanilla for the sentiment panel.
I cropped 4 of the 2 stem pieces and one of the leaf spray from Crushed Curry cardstock.
Assembly:
Using two of the Countryside Corners dies, crop the DSP and Cajun Craze cardstock.
After cropping the Crushed Curry leaf pieces, adhere them together using multipurpose liquid glue. I wanted a bit of height without trying to get dimensionals on those thin pieces.
Run the Crushed Curry pieces and the cropped Cajun Craze cardstock through your Cut & Emboss machine using one of the Basics Embossing Folders.
Center the Autumn DSP on the Cajun Craze mat and adhere with liquid glue.
Adhere the Crushed Curry pieces on the opposite diagonal corners of the Cajun Craze mat.
Line up the two pieces of the DSP and adhere with liquid glue.
Stamp the front sentiment using Early Espresso ink.
Crop using one of the Autumn Leaves dies.
Add a length of copper ribbon to the back of the sentiment panel.
Put dimensionals on the back of the sentiment panel and adhere to the card.
Stamp leaf pieces on the Very Vanilla inside using Cajun Craze ink.
Stamp the sentiment on the Very Vanilla using Early Espresso ink.
Adhere to the inside of the card using liquid glue.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
Welcome back to the Cardz 4 Guyz biweekly challenge. I want to thank all of you who played along with my stars theme for challenge #331. Our host for challenge #332, Jolanda, chose Fall Colors, especially browns, for the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see the rest of the projects from the other design team members. As always, I’m blown away by the creativity and individuality when interpreting the challenges. We’d love to have you play along, so please upload your creations to our gallery.
I chose to use Pretty Peacock and copper from the Autumn Leaves suite and Very Vanilla, Burlap ribbon, along with Crumb Cake for my browns.
Here’s my fall card:
This absolute wonderful sentiment is the one I am using on the front of all the Thanksgiving cards I am making this year. I have a retired “Happy Thanksgiving” stamp for the inside, but this sentiment on the front reminds me that change can be a very positive thing.
What I Did:
The Pretty Peacock base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
After I ran the Very Vanilla. cardstock through the Cut & Emboss machine using the Falling Leaves embossing folder, I trimmed it to 4 by 5-1/4 inches.
The Very Vanilla inside measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches as well.
I used the dotted die from Autumn Leaves for the top right-hand corner of the Very Vanilla.
The large leaf was cropped from the specialty DSP from the Autumn Leaves suite and die set.
Then, I trimmed another piece of the specialty DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. I punched a 1-inch circle of the Pretty Peacock DSP for the envelope seal.
The veins and smaller leaves were cropped from Pretty Peacock. I used one of the basics embossing folders on the smaller pair of leaves.
I cropped the branches from copper foil and Pretty Peacock cardstock, again using dies from Autumn Leaves.
The burlap ribbon is part of a two-pack of Real Red and Burlap ribbon rolls. Simply wrap a length around the Very Vanilla cardstock and adhere on the back using tear & tape.
The large leaf and the sentiment are adhered using dimensionals. I used multipurpose liquid glue for the rest of the elements.
Add dimensionals to the back of the Very Vanilla cardstock and adere to the card base.
The final touch for the front was to add 3 speckled dots, again from the Autumn Leaves Suite.
I’m pretty please with the way this card turned out. I probably should’ve used more browns, but hope I got enough on the card to meet the challenge theme.
Thank you for stopping by today!
Have a Peachy Day!
