Paper Players 351

This week’s PP sketch was pretty open in that the only requirements were for the card to be something about a teacher thank you, graduation success, exam congrats, or congrats.  I love, love, love the retired Serene Scenery DSP stack and pulled out this last sheet of this pattern to use with the Lovely You stamp set.  This card took loads of fussy cutting, and it probable would have been easier if I cut out the whole lady the first time instead of trying to cut out just legs and arms to slide them under the dress, which was also fussy cut.   I used celebrate instead of congrats, but they can mean the same thing, right?  Sure, they can.

Freshly Made Sketches 295

#FMS295  is a basic sketch and this little piggie seemed to fit.  It’s been a while since I’ve done double time stamping, but it worked here and really pops the focal image.  The sentiment is already on the stamp, so that took care of two things at once.  I colored the piggie, the flower, and outlined the grass using the Stampin’ Up! Stamp Write markers.  The finish with these markers is so smooth and, most times, looks like ink had been stamped instead of coloring.  I finished this off with some enamel shapes from the 2016-2018 In Colors, and ta-da! A cute card.

#GDP094

The Global Design Challenge this week was all about stripes.  There were so many choices of DSP paper, but I finally decided on the Eastern Beauty stamp set with the Eastern Palace DSP and Eastern Gold Vinyl stickers.  I am really not a gold person, give me white gold or silver, but the chosen combination just spoke to me.  My base is Dapper Denim (love!!), with a layer of Very Vanilla, and finally the stripes of gold and Dapper Denim striped DSP.  I used the 3 border stickers in the space between the DSP stripes.  Add in a couple of Stitched Shapes circles, a Dapper Denim circle, a sentiment and circle stamp to meet that part of the challenge sketch.  Squinting my eyes, as suggested by my upline Brian King,  and thought I needed just a little something-something to finish it off.  Enter the gold Metallic Enamel Shape circle to the center of the small sticker, and I was done.

This was a card that evolved from the basic picture in my head.  I now have a few shapes bases all ready to go for another card, but that will have to wait until next time.

For this week’s challenge, I chose the middle horizontal row of DSP, embossing, and floral.  Sounds pretty easy, right?   It was more difficult than I thought.  I wound up with 2 cards while playing around with this list of 3 requirements.  I wound up much happier with this card than the first.

I started with the Sale-a-Bration DSP of Inside the Lines, and then I CASEd another demo (who posted on one of the SU! demo sites on facebook and can’t remember which one or I would give her credit here) and used the splatter stamp from Dragonfly Dreams stamp set in Dapper Denim.  I embossed the Dapper Denim base using the Layered Leafs Dynamic TIEF and then sponged some Dapper Denim ink over the embossing to bring out the leaves.  Added Happy Birthday from Butterfly Basics using the ovals from Stiched Shapes, wrapped some coordinating ribbon around the card, popped up layers with dimensionals.  Surpised myself with a card I want to replicate a few more times.

Just Add Ink challenge # 366

The challenge for this week was to use “A” in any manner as inspiration for a card or project.  I chose A Little Wild stamp set, which I just had delivered by the man in the brown truck on Tuesday.  Since then I have been having so much fun with it!

I used some DSP from the retired Going Places DSP stack for the background of this fun card.  The colors in the paper include Lost Lagoon (card base, ribbon and ink on sentiment), Delightful Dijon ( squares),  and Basic Black (band and stamped trio).

My thought when choosing the sentiment was that I wanted the card to be able to be used as an all occasion card.  By stamping Live your dream, I was hoping that, when looking at the card, the recipient would be reminded of a simple dream that is still attainable.

Create with Connie and Mary #464

My first time playing along with this challenge, which I stumbled across when looking for a completely different challenge.  This one was super fun in that Mary picked page 105 from the Stampin’ Up catalog to CASE.   There were 4 card samples from which I could choose, all 4 using the Foxy Friends bundle.

However, I chose one of my brand new toys, which is the A Little Wild bundle.  I stamped the adorable elephant on Basic Grey and then cut it out with the die.  I used 3 graduated dies from the Lots of Labels set, some Berry Burst Color Theory DSP, some Berry Burst cardstock, dimensionals and mini-dimensionals, and finished it off with some Basic Grey ribbon.  The sentiment, Wild about You, fit so nicely on the label under the green grass from the stamp set.

This fabulous bundle is so much fun and the possibilities seem endless right now, especially since I’ve done 3 different challenge cards this week which use this bundle.
