Welcome back to the bi-weekly Cardz 4 Galz challenge #277. Our host for this two week challenge, Billie A., chose Brown & Green with Ribbon or Twine for the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

Here’s my card:

Adhering Vellum

This gorgeous DSP is actually a piece of stunning retired vellum from the Season of Green & Gold products. I had a piece just waiting for me to use, and I thought this would be a good time to do so. Adhering vellum can be tricky, so I pulled out my 5 inch XYRON create-a-sticker and ran the piece of vellum through it. After rubbing down the vellum to make sure the vellum had a sticky backside all over the vellum, I adhered it to a piece of white cardstock. Then I trimmed it down to a piece measuring 4 by 5-1/4 inches and 3/4 by 4 inches

Measurements:

  • The Pecan Pie base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scores at 4-1/4 inches to create a tent card
  • I used a piece of Old Olive cardstock trimmed to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches for the mat on the front
  • Since the vellum is no longer transparent, I cropped the leafy branch from the center of the mat and no one will see the ugly part under the vellum/white cardstock combination
  • The corrugated piece of Pecan Pie DSP was a scrap that I had in the page protector for that color and measures 1-1/4 by 3-1/2 inches
  • I used a scrap of white cardstock for the front sentiment
  • The inside piece of white cardstock measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches
  • Trim a piece of Old Olive 6 by 6 inch DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • I punched a 1-inch circle from a piece of Pecan Pie DSP and ran it through the XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal

Easy Peasy Assembly:

  • Unless otherwise specified, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the pieces together
  • First, I adhered the vellum/white cardstock layer to the Old Olive mat
  • Next, I used the dark Pecan Pie blend and colored a piece of (retired) Pecan Pie Center Stripe ribbon) using the blend
    • HINT: Make sure you color on both sides of the ribbon and left it dry completely before trying to use it – trust me on this
  • I wrapped the ribbon around the matted vellum and tied it in a square knot
  • Then I adhered the matted vellum to the base of the card, making sure I used liquid glue above and below the ribbon
  • I slipped the corrugated Pecan Pie cardstock under the ribbon and adhered it
  • Then I adhered the leafy branches so it overlaps the Pecan Pie cardstock
  • After stamping the sentiment from Lovely Arrangements on a piece of scrap of white cardstock, I cropped it using a die from the Nested Essentials set
  • I added dimensionals making sure they would straddle the ribbon and adhered it to the front of the card
  • Then, I added three Pecan Pie enamel dots to the front of the card
  • I adhered the strip of vellum/white cardstock to the cardstock piece for the inside of the card and adhered it to the base

With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
