Welcome back to the bi-weekly Cardz 4 Galz challenge #274. I’m hosting for this edition of our bi-weekly challenge and chose April Showers for the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

Here’s my card:

When I picked this theme, I thought April Showers would be perfect for an April challenge. However, creating the card meant that I needed to use retired products. The stamp set, coordinating punch for the umbrella, and droplets background stamp are all retired.

I used Balmy Blue cardstock, onto which I stamped the droplets background stamp using VersaMark ink. After covering the ink with white embossing powder, I heat set it with my heat tool.

I cropped a piece of Azure Afternoon cardstock using a die from the Everyday Arches die set. When dry-fitting the arch over the Balmy Blue background, I realized I needed to have some sort of decoration on the arched cardstock. I stamped the droplets stamp set using VersaMark ink and covered it with clear embossing powder. Then I heat set the clear powder, and adhered the arch to the completed background using dimensionals.

In order to get layers of flowers on the bottom of the card, I needed to use masks. After stamping the floral stamp twice on a Post-It note, making sure that the stamps were on the sticky part, I fussy cut both out. I stamped the first row of flowers, then used the masks to stamp the second and third rows by placing the masks on either side of the area to be stamped.

After coloring the flowers and leaves using the Petunia Pop, Pretty in Pink, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive blends, I colored in the white spaces with Balmy Blue light blend so it would mimic the droplets background. Since I had leaves on the top layer across the top, fussy-cutting the flowers was relatively simple.

I used Crushed Curry 6 x 6 DSP (designer series paper) for the envelope flap, the boots, and the umbrella. The boots did need to be fussy cut before adhering.

Thank you for stopping by today (especially since my post for this challenge is late)!

Have a Peachy Day!
