Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month’s theme is “Male Room.” The Pals hope to inspire you with their masculine card ideas and paper craft creations using Stampin’ Up! products. Links to the participant’s blogs can be found at the end of each post to help you “hop” along!

My card is in honor of my father. He was an aeronautical engineer and astrophysicist. He loved the WWII planes, and always had models of them hanging in his office.

Here’s my card for my Dad’s office:

Since I found this criss-cross fun fold card by Terri Gaines with Create with Terri Gaines , I have used it often for past future challenges. You can see a couple of these cards here, here (I just realized I did the same fold for the March Pals’ Blog Hop), and here.

The Template:

I create a template for all the fun folds I love so I always have them at my fingertips. This fold is no exception.

Here’s the template:

This Adventurous Sky bundle is on the LAST CHANCE page for $53.00. The Take to the Sky 12 by 12 inch DSP (designer series paper) is not listed as last chance yet. However, since the paper has the soon-to-be-retired Boho Blue and Copper Clay 2023 – 2025 In Colors, it will probably be added soon.

I followed the template for the measurements and the Terri Gaines’ video for the adhering the pieces together. The only places where dimensionals are used is on the front focal point panel and the underside of the front panel. You will need to use multipurpose liquid glue to adhere all the other pieces so you can cut down on the bulkiness of the card.

I highly recommend this criss-cross fun fold! I actually like it more than a standard fold, partly because there’s such a small focal/front panel.

Tips & Tricks:

  • When I score the fold lines, I start on one end, then flip the base 180 degrees and score on the other end
    • I’d much rather remember just two score line measurements than 4
  • I stamped the cross-hatched stamp from the stamp set using Night of Navy ink on the two outside folds, which are visible in person
  • The outside sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy on white cardstock, then cropped using the Nested Labels die set
  • Then, I cropped a Copper Clay Nested Label, trimmed it in half horizontally and adhered it to the back of the white sentiment label using multipurpose liquid glue
  • If you’d like a larger panel on the inside, that’s totally up to you and your preferences, so have fun with it

Fun Folds = Creative Creases Challenge

Of course, since this is a fun fold, it will be posted to the gallery in the Creative Creases Challenge. If you are as much of a fan of fun folds as me, I’d encourage you to play along with this Anything Goes with a Fun Fold challenge! Fellow Pal, Debbie Mageed, coordinates and is the admin for this challenge. You can see her stunning fun folds by hopping along to her Secret Stamper website!
