Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
This month, the theme is Orange Theory. We hope to inspire you with our creations using the color orange today! You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
I couldn’t resist an orange and black Halloween card. My daughter’s favorite holiday is Halloween, with all others tied for second. Therefore, every year I make her more than one Halloween card, and you can see the other one I made her here.
Here’s my z-fold orange and black Halloween card:

As with all my fun folds, I am adding this card to the Creative Creases Gallery.

Measurements:
- The Basic Black base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4 inches
- The black cardstock piece for the front flap measures 3-3/4 by 5 inches
- I’m still finishing up the previous year’s 6 x 6 inch DSP in Pumpkin Pie, which is trimmed to 5-3/8 by 2 inches
- I needed to trim another piece of DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
- Then, I punched a 1-inch circle of DSP for the envelope seal, and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker
- After I ran a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock through my Cut & Emboss machine using the exposed brick folder, I trimmed it to 3-5/8 by 4-7/8 inches
- HINT: Remember, if you trim the cardstock before embossing it, you will wind up with a smaller piece of cardstock than you wanted/needed
- Finally, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches for the inside of the card
- Thankfully, the other elements on the card were cropped from scraps of white and Crumb Cake cardstock
Stamping, Coloring, Assembly:
- Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose glue to adhere pieces together
- I used Gorgeous Grape ink to stamp the front and inside sentiments.
- Then I used the Granny Apple Green ink pad for the accent stamps on the front sentiment panel
- After cropping the outside sentiment using a Nested Essential die, I outlined it using a Basic Black marker and added dimensionals to the back of it so they would straddle the ribbon
- Since I wanted black and Pumpkin Pie ribbon, I needed to color the Black and Very Vanilla ribbon using the dark Pumpkin Pie blend marker
- I adhered the ribbon using the ribbon saving technique and you can find pictures of what I did here or here
- After adhering the ribbon to the dry-embossed Pumpkin Pie cardstock, adhere the cardstock to the black cardstock
- I cropped two sets of the broom pieces from scraps of Crumb Cake cardstock, which I adhered together to add just a touch of height
- I used the Crumb Cake combo blends to color the broom handle and sweeper
- Then, I used a Crumb Cake marker to accent the sweeper lines and to add some sort of wood looking handle
- Stamp the cat the stack of books (for the inside) using Momento Tuxedo Black ink on scrap pieces of white and crop both pieces
- I cropped another cat from white cardstock to add just a bit of height so I could tuck the cat in behind the sentiment
- I used Smoky Slate dark and light blends to color the cat and the dark Granny Apple Green blend for the cat’s eyes
- Then I colored the books using the light Pumpkin Pie and dark Highland Heather blends
- For the middle two books, I used the light and dark Crumb Cake blends and outlined them using a black marker
- Adhere the Pumpkin Pie DSP to the front flap
- Add liquid glue to only the left side of the black cardstock flap piece and adhere to the DSP
- HINT: If you add liquid glue to the whole flap, the card won’t open
- Adhere the book stack to the lower left side of the inside white cardstock so that it hides behind the Pumpkin Pie flap when the card is closed
- Adhere the white cardstock to the inside
- With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set

Hurricane Milton:
Before I finish the post, I just wanted to share that I live in west Central Florida and that means today and tomorrow are going to be wild because of Milton’s very much unwanted appearance. I feel absolutely terrible for the people on the southern Gulf Coast because they are getting hit for the second time in two weeks. Helene caused a great deal of damage, but Milton is so much worse. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of them, and I very humbly ask you to keep them and all of those impacted in your thoughts.
Thank you for stopping by today!
Have a Peachy Day!
Sue
