Welcome back to the bi-weekly Cardz 4 Galz challenge # 234. Our host, Pamela, chose Coloring for the theme. I used some bold DSP layered onto an embossed black cardstock background.

When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

I used the Potions and Spells bundle for my very colored card. Here it is:

If you like Halloween, this set from the online exclusives collection is for you. Here’s an up close look at the bundle:

I can almost hear you ask yourself if this could be any cuter. Well, it can be — take a look at the coordinating new scrapbooking workshop kit for this adorable set!

Here’s a closer look at this delightful, and very versatile, DSP (designer series paper):

Measurements:

  • The Gorgeous Grape base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches
  • The Pumpkin Pie mat measures 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 inches
  • After I ran a piece of white cardstock through my Cut & Emboss machine using the exposed brick folder, I trimmed it to 4 by 5-1/4 inches
  • I also trimmed another piece of white cardstock for the inside measuring 5-1/4 by 4 inches
  • I trimmed a piece of Pumpkin Pie 6 x 6 inch DSP to 2-1/2 by 6 inches for the envelope flap
  • Then, I trimmed a piece of the same DSP to 5-1/4 by 1/2 inch for the inside of the card
  • After stamping the stars grouping randomly on a scrap piece of white cardstock, I punched 1 1-inch circle of it and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal
  • I used white cardstock for the bubbles, the dripping goop, sentiment banner, and the books
  • The cat and the cauldron were stamped on Basic Gray cardstock using black embossing powder

Coloring & Stamping:

  • I stamped the books using Momento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with the Highland Heather, Pumpkin Pie, and Crumb Cake blend combos
  • After stamping the bubbles on white cardstock embossed with silver embossing powder, I used a blending brush and Granny Apple Green ink to color the bubbles, which I then fussy cut
  • I used the same blending brush and ink to color another piece of scrap white cardstock and cropped it using the goopy (for a lack of a better term) overflow
  • After stamping the cauldron and cat on Basic Gray cardstock using black embossing powder, I cropped them out
  • I used the Basic Gray blends to color the cat and the Granny Apple Green dark blend for the eyes
  • I used a blending brush and Basic Gray ink to color over the embossed outline of the cauldron
  • Then, I used a clear Wink of Stella brush to outline the handles and center handle
  • Here’s a closer look at the Wink of Stella since it’s so hard to photograph:
  • I stamped the sentiments for the outside and inside using Gorgeous Grape ink
  • The outside sentiment was cropped using a nested essentials die
  • The star clusters are stamped in Granny Apple Green
  • I even colored the black checked ribbon using a dark Pumpkin Pie blend
    • HINT: Make sure you give the ribbon to thoroughly dry before using it

Assembly:

  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere pieces together
  • I added dimensionals under the outside sentiment, the books, and the cat
  • The cauldron bubbles, cauldron, and overflowing goop, all got layered together before adhering it directly to the exposed brick embossed white cardstock for the front
  • After adhering the inside white cardstock and DSP, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set
