Good morning and welcome back for another Make My Monday challenge. The new challenge calls for a beach theme. I might have to explain what I did for a beachy card, though.

Here’s my card:

While my card doesn’t contain a strict beach scene, to me the Tropical Oasis DSP very definitely conveys a Hawaiian vibe. The vintage cars with surfboards on top, the palm trees, and the colors all say BEACH to me.

Measurements:

This card turned out to be much easier than I thought it would be.

• I trimmed Whisper White to 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, and scored it at 5-1/2 inches. This provided me with a card base.
• The Pretty Peacock bottom mat measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
• I cut the Tropical Oasis DSP to 2-5/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. Then I used the Pretty Peacock Stamping Write marker to outline the the DSP so it created a border without the extra bulk of more cardstock.
• Since I thought that I had the coordinating die set, I took time using the Stamparatus for the palm trees. I really couldn’t have easily created all the colorful frond without the Stamparatus. In order to create the palm trees I used the Stamping Write Markers so I could add detail to the leaves.
• For the trunks, I used the Early Espresso marker on just the trunks and stamped them. Next, I used the Old Olive marker to color the all the fronds and stamped them. In order to add color, I used the Pretty Peacock marker and randomly swiped it on the fronds part of the stamp, then stamped it.
• This is where things got interesting. I don’t actually have the coordinating die set. However, I really wanted to use the palm trees, so I had to fussy cut them out. They came out much better than I would have thought.

Finishing Up

• Next, I had to decide on a sentiment. The main reason I picked this one was that it fit where I needed it to be. We’ve all done that, right? I used Early Espresso to stamp it on another pattern of the Tropical DSP, which I cropped using the Rectangle Stitched dies.
• There are dimensionals under the sentiment to pop it up. I attached the palm tree trunks to the sentiment and popped it up on dimensionals as well.
• Before adhering the sentiment and palm trees, I wrapped Early Espresso faux suede trim and tied it in a square knot.
• Next, I adhered the sentiment and palm trees.
• I cut a piece of the sentiment DSP to 4-1/4 inches by 1/2 inch and adhered it to the bottom of the inside of the card.
• Finally, I cut a pieces of the brown grass cloth DSP pattern to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches, adhered it to the envelope flap, then trimmed it.
• With that, I’d completed this card/envelope set.
