Bird Ballad, But No Birds in Sight
Yes, this really is DSP from Bird Ballad, and I think the gorgeous floral patterns created a very clean card for the Fusion Challenge.
Here’s the challenge banner:
This challenge always contains a sketch and a theme of some sort. I chose to combine the two, and this is the card I created:
The implicity of the sketch calls for a great deal of white space. Knowing that, I simply ran the white cardstock through my Big Shot using the Subtle embossing folder.
For the five circles, I decided which color I wanted to showcase, and I decided on the Calypso Coral. Therefore, the outside and middle circles are shades of the Coral ink. I also chose one circle of Pool Party and one of Daffodil Delight.
I first carefully punched the floral pieces using the 1-3/8 inch circle punch. After I finished those five circles, I decided I needed to add a mat under them. The outlines of all these images are already done in Basic Black, so I used that for these mats using the 1-1/2 inch circle punch. The sharp contrast makes the images pop right off the card. I glued the middle circle down using my Tombow adhesive. I adhered the next two circles with glue dots on the outside and Tombow overlapping the center. Dimensionals raised the two outer circles, giving the line of circles some depth.
Calypso Coral vs Pool Party
When I dry fit the pieces together, I realized Calypso Coral wasn’t going to work as the mat base. Therefore, I decided that the more subtle Pool Party which would allow the floral circles with black outlines to really shine.
The retired Pool Party ribbon anchors the circles so they don’t just float in the middle of the card. I also used the ribbon to emphasize the sentiment. Can you tell what punch I used for the sentiment? If you guessed the Everyday Label Punch, that would be correct. I simply trimmed both the white label and the black label to the shapes I wanted. I used my Stamping Write Basic Black marker to thinly outline the two ends of the white label.
The inside of the card also needed a sentiment. Here’s the inside I created:
Both of the sentiments come from the Colorful Seasons photopolymer stamp set.
The photo is very awkward, and I need to figure out a better way to photgraph insides.
As always, I finished by adhering DSP to the envelope flap and stamped Calypso Coral flowers on the bottom, right front.
