Celebrate YOU for GDP#296 & HLS June
Hello and welcome to my two-fer card! Today I am sharing a card I created for the Global Design Project #296 challenge and the Happy Little Stampers June challenge to use a die.
Here’s my easy-peasy card:
Here are the challenge banners for this card:
Measurements
- I started with a Night of Navy base which measures 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches.
- I didn’t trim down the white background cardstock until after running it through the cut and emboss machine in the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder. Then I trimmed it to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
- TIP: When using embossing folders on your cardstock, you will get a much more precise measurement if you trim it after you emboss it.
- The white cardstock for the inside measures my usual of 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
- I am still using up my 6 x 6 inch DSP from last year, and I used the Night of Navy woodgrain piece here. It measures 1 inch by 5-3/8 inches.
- TIP: My piece of DSP somehow wound up being less than 1/16 short. Not a problem because I used my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write marker to just barely cover the little, tiny piece of white at the bottom of the strip. You didn’t even notice, did you? The recipient won’t either. Score.
- I cut a piece of the gorgeous (and very soon retiring) Fine Art Floral DSP to 2-1/2 inches by 6 inches for the envelope flap. Lately, I have found that I really need to attach the DSP for the envelope flap as soon as I trim it. I also punched a piece of DSP using the 1 inch circle punch and ran it through the XYRON create-a-sticker for the seal.
- I used scrap white cardstock for both the sentiment block and the floral spray.
Putting the Card Together
- I used my Stamparatus for both the sentiment and the floral spray. Using the Stamparatus allowed me to stamp multiple layers of Pool Party ink on each.
- Another good use for the Stamparatus is for using the Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I started with the sentiment and, when I finished that I moved onto the floral spray. After getting the color Pool Party color I wanted, I cleaned the stamp and then used my embossing buddy on the dried ink/cardstock. I still had the cardstock lined up in the Stamparatus, so I easily stamped the Versamark a couple of times.
- After stamping the Versamark, I covered the cardstock with the clear embossing powder then heat set it.
- Thanks to Debbie Mageed’s tip, I placed the sentiment back on the Stamparatus and repeated the process, including using the embossing buddy and heatsetting the second layer of embossing powder. Finally, I trimmed a mat of Night of Navy to size for the sentiment.
- TIP: Whenever I am using the Stamparatus I have the Stamparatus sized grid paper under the cardstock. This allows me to trace two of the corners of the cardstock so I know for sure that I have everything lined up correctly.
- Repeat the process for the floral spray.
- Time for the dies: I used the Stitched Rectangle die to crop the sentiment. Then, I used the Floral Gallery Dies for the floral spray.
Finishing Up
- I used multipurpose glue to adhere the white cardstock and the DSP to the front of the card.
- Then, I popped the sentiment and the floral spray up on dimensionals.
- Amazingly, I made a bunny ears bow out of Pool Party ribbon. I adhered it to the spray using a glue dot.
- Then I used the multipurpose adhesive to adhere the inside white cardstock panel.
- After trimming the DSP on the envelope flap, I’d finished this card/envelope/seal coordinated set.
I’d love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.
Have a Peachy Day!
Sue
