Welcome to InKing Royalty’s January Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by a single word – and this month our projects are centered around LOVE. Lesson Learned
Just one of the many things I learned at OnStage/Orlando was to stop saying I am “just” a hobbyist demo. I’m a demo with a fabulous hobby sounds so much better. However, a hobbyist demo also means that I have to be very careful with how I choose my Stampin’ Up! products for purchasing. My first priority is versatility and longevity. Valentine’s Day stamps/bundles usually do not make it into my wish list, and the same goes fpr this year. (If I still taught elementary school, I would have definitely purchased the Hey Love Cling Stamp Set!!)
For this blog, I relied heavily on the DSP from Brian King’s DSP share. The bold hearts in the various shades of Lovely Lipstick jumped out at me, especially for a card for my husband’s Valentine’s Day card. While very happy and full of love, I used vellum to tone down the brightness of the Lovely Lipstick. Score! I needed to make sure the vibrant colors would pop, which caused me to use Basic Black cardstock to mat both the outside and inside panels.
My next challenge required me to figure out how to adhere the vellum to the card stock. I pulled out the epoxy hearts, again from an embellishment share from Brian King. I used some of all three sizes of epoxy hearts and randomly spaced them out to sit on the DSP hearts, then placed tiny dots of Tombow Liquid Adhesive behind the hearts. This trick allowed me to get the vellum attached without the adhesive showing through.

Two Stamp Sets, Two Die Sets
I’ve been pretty blocked creatively since Christmas. However, once I picked out my DSP for this card, everything else seemed to fall into place.
I pulled the Strong and Beautiful stamp set from the Occassions catalog, specifically for the “You are so Loved” sentiment for the inside. The heart die and the cropped “love” is from the Celebrate You thinlit set. Happiness abounded when my plan for the heart and sentiment on the inside actually worked out perfectly! I cropped the “YOU” in Lovely Lipstick using the Celebrate you thinlit set.
Wood Words has the very textured heart stamp, which I used to stamp off Lovely Lipstick for the front of the envelope. Then, I glued the same DSP onto the envelope flap, and then fussy cut it down.
TA-DA! Done! Feels good to have created something of which I am proud! Now, I feel I’m ready to take on some challenges.

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s April Blog Hop! This year’s hops are themed around some of our favorite songs. Today’s hop is pulls inspiration from B.B. King’s song “Let the Good Times Roll.” How fun is that?! We’ve created projects that either feature images with wheels (cards, wagons, bikes) or celebrate good times. Let the Good Times Roll
“Let the Good Times Roll” means something different to almost everyone. What I thought of almost immediately was the Wood Crate Framelits as a wagon, and I knew I wanted to fill it with flowers (although I’ve seen cards on Pinterest with a wagon of Bella puppies ~ adorable!). Enter the Beautiful Bouquet bundle. I chose the colors based on a color challenge, using So Saffron, Pool Party, and Old Olive. The base is Old Olive, as are the cropped leaf pieces.
Wood Crate Framelits
I tried a couple of different backgrounds, and finally decided on the Basketweave TIEF. If you haven’t already purchased this folder, you need to treat yourself and do it. I also used the Woodplank embossing folder for the wagon, which was cropped in Crumb Cake. After I embossed it, I lightly daubed Crumb Cake ink over the embossed parts to enhance the wood look of my wagon.
The wheels were stamped using the circle in the Wood Words stamp set. I punched the wheels out with a circle punch, which I also did for the white centers hoping to make the wheels look like actual tires. The distressed stamp makes the wheel look more realistic, at least I think so. After adding a strip of the embossed and daubed Crumb Cake for the handle and a piece of another wheel for the handle, the wagon portion was done.

Beautiful Bouquet
Both flower stamps and the framelits are from this gorgeous bundle. However, no matter how much I played around with the six flowers, I couldn’t get the overflowing appearance I wanted. Back to the framelits for inspiration, in which I found in the mini-flower framelit. I decided I really wanted these to look like black-eyed Susans, which I’ve always loved. I needed to crop three of these sets of flowers in So Saffron, daubed them with So Saffron, then added the black rhinestones from the 2017 Holiday Catalog. When I finish the rest of my set of these lovely little jewels I am going to have to figure out something else to use.
Flower arranging
I took my time to play around with the arrangement of the flowers. Many mini and regular dimensionals were added on the backs in order to really be able to play around with a dry fit. Glue dots seemed to be the easiest way to adhere the black-eyed Susans to the wagon. After I stuck down the dimensionals I knew something else was needed, so I cropped a bunch of stems and leaves and played around again. Glue dots were also usedto adhere the stems behind the flowers. I really wish I would make these decisions before I adhere everything down. However, sometimes I just don’t know what I might need to add.
Final Element is the Sentiment
The birthday greeting was chosen because it fit. My focus was the wagon full of flowers, so this banner was was cropped to fit. Then, I used the Old Olive Stamping Write marker to outline the banner. Card completed – check!

Paper Players 387 and Freshly Made Sketches 331
I’ve been looking at this theme challenge all week. I knew I wanted to use the Music Sheet background stamp and the Wood Words stamp set has the sentiment I needed. Two color combinations were floating around in my head: Basic Black and either Cherry Cobbler or Crushed Curry. Crushed Curry would provide a striking contrast to the Basic Black, so that’s what I chose.
Then I saw the FMS challenge for this week and it all came together in my mind. I paired the Music Sheet and Wood Words with Petal Pallete stamp set and Petals and More thinlits. My original thought was to emboss the Crushed Curry mat. But then I decided to keep it simpler by stamping the music sheet in Crushed Curry on the mat. This gives a very subtle, but much needed, texture to the base of the card.

Completely Hooked on the Petal Pallette Bundle
I am absolutely and completely hooked on this bundle. During SAB, demonstrators were notified that the stamp set and die set are carrying over into the next annual catalog. YEAH!! These branches, the sentiment tag, the detailed banner, and this adorable watercolored bird stamp have been used in a number of cards over the last week or so.
In order to ensure that the sentiment tags would not appear to be floating on the card, I simply wrapped Basic Black bakers twine around the panels. The twine almost disappears with everything else going on with the card, but it serves it’s purpose.

The weekly FMS challenge is all about clean and simple design. For this week’s challenge I knew I wanted to use one of my fav DSP sets in the annual catalog, Pick-a-Pattern. Every pattern in this DSP set is so much fun; full of cute characters, fun patterns, fabulous colors, and B&W papers as well.
This is actually my second card based on this sketch, the first of which also used the Pick-a-Pattern DSP. While I thought my first card was fun, it didn’t turn out clean and simple, so I tried again.

Sending a Smile
The adorable characters and happy camper paper just make me smile. Each pattern on this card is from the same DSP set, which makes coordinating the colors a snap. Emerald Envy is one of my favorite greens, and I love it with the Crushed Curry, Crumb Cake, and a touch of Flirty Flamingo. I really thought I needed to mat everything on Basic Black cardstock to tone it down a bit and give your eyes some place to rest. The Wood Words stamp set provided the sentiment because I thought the block lettering fit with the basic camper theme.
I finished by fussy cutting the bear, the little bird and a stump from the DSP. The bird was attached so it sits on the stump, and then I popped it up on dimensionals. The bear is popped up on dimensionals as well and placed over the bear on the paper. I put the little bird and stump next to the bear, and TA-DAH! Done.
