Welcome to InKing Royalty’s November Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month’s projects celebrate Christmas, which – believe it or not – is just around the corner. Please prepare yourself for lots of beautiful projects that share the joy of this holiday. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
A friend asked me to make her teenage niece a cute Christmas card. Snowmen are cute, right? I used the Snowman Season photopolymer stamp set. I’ve been looking at it for a year and finally ordered it a couple of months ago. I am so glad I did! I made this card using the Fab Friday #201 sketch for the layout.
Here’s my card:
That happy dancing snowman is too cute! I used a Night of Navy/Seaside Spray color scheme with a bit of foil to keep the card from appearing too cutesy.
Here’s the Fab Friday 201 banner for this challenge:
Supplies and Measurements:
The Seaside Spray base of the card measures 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
I used a piece of the Night of Navy 6 x 6 inch DSP for the background mat, and trimmed it to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
Next, I ran a piece of Seaside Spray cardstock through the Big Shot using the brick and mortar 3D embossing folder. Then, I cropped it using one of the stitched rectangle dies. The final panel measures 3-3/4 inches x 5-1/8 inches.
I used multipurpose liquid adhesive on both the Night of Navy DSP and the brick embossed Seaside Spray cardstock to adhere them to the card base. This is my favorite adhesive, and I may or may not be hoarding it so I don’t run out. I have 3 containers in the jar on my desk and 18 in my adhesive drawer. I got down to three containers before and will never let myself get that low again. Strange – I will let my car run as low on gas as possible before refilling it. However, adhesive? I’m all about buying that when I get down to a dozen containers. Go figure………..
The foil is the reverse side of a scrap piece of the Frost DSP. It measures 3-1/4 inches long and wide enough to attach on the back of the white panel.
The white cardstock for the front was trimmed to 3-3/4 inches by 2-1/2 inches. While I had the white cardstock out, I trimmed a piece to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches for the inside.
Snowman and Snowflake Fun!
I didn’t want a plain white space background for the snowman/sentiment panel. Therefore, I used the snowflake stamp from Snowman Season and my Seaside Spray ink pad. Since I wanted subtle snowflakes, I stamped it off once, then stamped twice on the white cardstock. The varying snowflake colors add depth to the white cardstock. I didn’t want snowflakes behind the snowman, and made sure I didn’t stamp where I planned on placing the snowman.
Both the snowman and the sentiment were stamped in Night of Navy. I used the light Pumpkin Pie blend for the carrot nose. That little pop of orange just completely works for a teenager card.
I used the light Seaside Spray blend to color in the snowman. Then, I used the color lifter blend three or four times to life off almost all of the color. When using the color lifter, make sure you let it dry completely before adding more.
The card really needed some ribbon. However, the beautiful Seaside Spray ribbon wasn’t wide enough and has a sophisticated feel. I didn’t want to add another color to the card, so I used the light Seaside Spray blend and colored the polka dot tulle ribbon. After wrapping the ribbon around the foil and white cardstock piece, I tied it in a square knot. It came out just like I saw it in my head.
I stamped a non-symmetric snowflake frame around the inside white cardstock panel. Then I stamped Merry Christmas in Night of Navy in the center of the inside.
Finally, I added a strip of the foil DSP and a piece of the Night of Navy DSP to the envelope flap. With that, I’d finished this coordinated card/envelope set.
I Just Had a Thought I Must Try SOON!
Sitting here typing this, I thought how cute would this be if I made the white piece into a shaker card using the Stampin’ Up! clear envelopes. If this post didn’t need to go live early in the morning, I would start the shaker right now! Stay tuned for those results.

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s June Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month’s projects celebrate the 4th of July – the projects are inspirational, patriotic and filled with reds, whites and blues. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
Red, White, and Blue
What to do when you don’t have a fireworks stamp set, nor a stamp set with a star? This situation has plagued me for about a week, then I found inspiration from an unlikely source! As I was scrolling through Facebook, I came upon an ad from Life is Good t-shirts. The red t-shirt simply had a white daisy with touches of red on the petals and a star on a blue background for the star. Winner!
Here’s my card:
Three Stamp Sets and a Couple of Punches
Initially, I tried to use my Real Red blends to color the daisies, but I wasn’t happy with my results. Therefore, I pulled the Daisy Lane stamp set and the large daisy punch. The rest was pretty straight forward.
After stamping six daisies with Real Red, I punched them out with the daisy punch.
Next, I had to figure out what to do about a star in the middle of the punched 1/2 inch Night of Navy circles. Without any star stamps, I used the small five petal flower from the Special Someone stamp set. Five points on a star, five points on a flower – works for me. I used the craft white ink pad to stamp the stars. Remember, when you are using the white craft ink pad you need to add some ink before you try to use it. If you don’t, your stamps will stick to the cardstock and pull it apart when you remove the stamp. Don’t ask me how I know……..
I stacked two of the punched daisies off-centered to create the daisy. Next, I added the blue circles to the center of the flowers. Finally, I added dimensionals under each of the daisies.
For the sentiment, I used the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set. The stamp actually says “Let’s celebrate you”. I used my Night of Navy marker to color in just the first two words and stamped it on white cardstock. After cropping the block out using the Stitched Rectangle dies, I trimmed a piece of navy to mat it. Then I put dimensionals under the right side of the sentiment and the bottom left corner. A dab of glue connects the sentiment to the daisy, and the dimensionals keep it on the red cardstock.
Putting the Card Together
For the red background, I ran a 4″ by 5-1/4 inch piece of Real Red cardstock through the Big Shot using the new Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder. If you don’t have this very versatile embossing folder yet, it really needs to be on your next product order. It ranks right up there with the Subtles 3D embossing folder.
I already knew I would be using a white mat under the red front, with a Night of Navy card base. In the process of dry-fitting all the elements of the card, I decided I needed a ribbon of some sort. The only one I had that is from the current catalog and would work is the polka dot tulle. That’s actually a good thing because I love this ribbon and am working on my third roll of it. I simply wrapped the ribbon around the red cardstock and tied it in a square knot.
Next, I arranged the daisies in a triangle. A triangle balances out the elements on the card and provides balance.
Another tip for creating a balanced card includes an odd number of elements. I love math, all kinds, and for me, even numbers make me happy. Silly and strange, I know, and I blame it on my astrophysicist father. In this case, I have three flowers, one sentiment block, and one ribbon. Those five elements create a balanced card.
After I layered the front red and white layers, I attached them to the navy card base. For the inside, I cut down white cardstock to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. Then I stamped a small daisy in three corners, leaving the top left corner plain for a salutation.
Finishing Touches
I used a piece of the neutrals DSP to attach it to the flap of the envelope. After that, I stamped a daisy on the bottom corner of the front of the envelope. Since I’d punched an extra blue circle with a white flower stamped on it, I put that in the center of the daisy on the front.
With that, I’d completed this card/envelope set.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. I’d love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.

Adorable Bunny Baby Cards
As I have done for both the InKing Royalty and/or the Pals blog hops for the past few months, I once again have two experience levels using the same layout. The first card is for a baby girl, the second more advanced card is for a baby boy, simply because a friend asked for a baby boy card. I used the sketch for Poetry Artistry’s Mojo Monday.
The Sketch and My Cards
First, here’s the challenge banner from Mojo Monday:
Now for my baby girl card:
Next picture is the inside of the baby girl’s card:
Finally, here’s my baby boy card for a casual or advanced stamper:
I’ve been sharing fun folds on these blog hops, and today is no different. The baby boy card is an easel fold, so the following picture is of the card when standing up. I’ve also included a close-up of the easel stop, for which each rectangle is popped up on dimensionals. Yes, this card would require extra postage, but it’s so worth it, don’t you think?
I used Rococo Rose for the girl card and Seaside Spray for the boy card. Both cards also have Smoky Slate as well. Once I had my colors chosen, I got started with my blends for the bunnies. All three bunnies were colored using the dark Petal Pink blends for the ears and pads of the feet. Then, I colored all the bunnies using the Smoky Slate blends combo. Since I wanted contrast between the face and body with the tuft of fur right under the face, I first colored it with the Smoky Slate. Then, I went back with the color lifter blend to make it even lighter.
When I colored the baby boy bunny, I found that I liked the white chest fur. Therefore, I had to go back to the baby girl bunny and use the lifter to get the chest fur as close to white as I could.
Finally, I decided that the Whisper White layer, the Smoky Slate base, and the bunny circles all needed some sort of border. Adding more layers didn’t seem like a good option. Therefore, I outlined all of them using the Basic Black marker. Border accomplished.
It’s all about the DSP and the Sketch
The In Color 2019 – 2021 and the Neutrals 6 x 6 DSP made this card easy to create and the sketch and measurements brought it together quickly. I used the Stitched Shapes dies for the bunny circles, and the Stitched Rectangle dies for the sentiment block and the Smoky Slate mat. I really tried to stay true to the sketch measurements. The slight change I made was to put the focal circle over the sentiment rectangle block. The sentiment for the fronts, insides, and front of the envelope all came from the Wildly Happy stamp set.
While I was running everything through the Big Shot, I saw my Detailed Bee dies on the desk with the cute little hearts die. A lightbulb went off over my head, so I cropped a set of Rococo Rose hearts and the Seaside Spray hearts. The resulting embossed large and small hearts fit perfectly where I wanted to use them. Score!
I did add the Polka Dot Tulle ribbon to each of the cards, even though there wasn’t ribbon on the challenge sketch. This is one of my favorite ribbons and the card seemed to be begging for me to use it. So cute!

Global Design Project #229
This week’s challenge calls for Crushed Curry, Garden Green, and Night of Navy.
Here’s the challenge banner:
Here’s my Easter card:
This card falls into the Easy Peasy category. I used the Garden Green DSP for the background with a Night of Navy block for the focal elements.
While I could have cropped the Whisper White circle closer to the chick, I wanted enough room for the cute little bees. In order to ground the chick, I used the grasses stamp and stamped full strength and stamped again without reinking. Maybe I got a bit carried away with the grass, but Easter grass seems to multiply quickly so it works.
As of right now, there are no blends for Crushed Curry and Garden Green. Sadness. Therefore, I used the Pumpkin Pie marker for the chick’s beak and feet. Then, I used the Crushed Curry Stamping Marker to color the chick.
After stamping the greeting and the bees, I cropped the sentiment block using the Stitched Rectangles die. The left side bee almost got cropped out, but I like how it is just coming into view.
With all the dots on the Garden Green DSP, I thought the Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon would be perfect. I simply tied it in a bow around the Night of Navy mat. Honestly, I have been so bow challenged lately, I thought I would need to just tie a square knot. Happily, I played around with the ribbon and wound up with a useful bow.
I did use dimensionals to pop up both the chick circle and the greeting.
Finishing Touches
I used the Garden Green DSP on the envelope flap. Then, I decided that a line of happy bees needed to find a home along the bottom of the front of the envelope. Once I colored those, I had finished another card and envelope set.
As always,
Thank you so very much for stopping by my blog today. I appreciate your the time you take to read, and comment, on my blog.

This ladybug stamp set is just too cute for words! I really like a monochromatic look for this special ladies, so today I went with Poppy Parade, Whisper White, with accents in Basic Black.
Here’s my card:
The Poppy Parade base actually had the Detailed Hearts Die cropped out of it, but who would know? Cropping or punching out of cardstock used for a base not only saves just a small bit on weight, but also saves a bunch of cardstock.
How I Did It
I colored this cute as a button ladybug using both the Poppy Parade and Petal Pink blends combos. The Poppy Parade dark blend provided the color for the retired solo flat white dot. After a few layers of color, I achieved the depth of color I wanted. I cropped the ladybug using the Stitched Shapes die set. Then I simply cut a piece of Poppy Parade to mat the ladybug. I outlined the mat in black to make it stand out.
The Brights 6 x 6 DSP pack consists of some pretty incredible patterns. I thought this pattern mimicked the ladybug’s wings and I am happy I picked it for this card.
Then, I put everything together using glue dots (ribbons) and dimensionals (sentiment and ladybug square). I added the trio of white dots and the Poppy Parade dot. Finally, I stamped a row of adorable ladybugs across the front bottom of the envelope and a piece of the Brights DSP to the envelope flap. Just like that, another card was done.
The sentiment banner includes three elements. I used the Polka Dot Tulle for the bottom layer. The Poppy Parade Textured Weave Ribbon is in the middle, and the sentiment is on top, obviously. I used VersaMark to stamp the sentiment on the Poppy Parade cardstock. I forgot to use my Embossing Buddy on the cardstock, so I had to redo the sentiment. After the second try stamping, I used white embossing powder to finish it off.
Just A Quick Comment About My Scraps
It is my SOP to crop or punch out as much as possible from bases to save on cardstock. I add those pieces to my “scraps”. I have filed each color of cardstock in file folders. The scraps, and up to half sheets of cardstock, are stored by color into 8 x 8 page protectors. I store the protector in the corresponding file folders. I really struggled to find a system that works for me. When I figured this one out, it became much easier to store and use “scraps”. If you would like more information about my paper storage system, please feel free to contact me.
