The Make My Monday Challenge #120 theme is Spring Flowers. I’ve taken pictures of three views of my card.
Here’s my card:
Flowers Galore
The outside of my card is definitely Spring Flowers. I created the front using the Thoughtful Blooms stamp set and the small flower punch, but you could use any floral stamp set you have. The colors are Pear Pizzazz, Highland Heather, and Gorgeous Grape. I stamped the popped up flowers in Highland Heather. On top of the Highland Heather I stamped Versamark, then added clear embossing powder. Then I punched the flowers out and put a Noble Peacock Rhinestone in the centers. Dimensionals added the height I wanted. I used Gorgeous Grape to stamp the small flowers.
Next, I cropped the Pear Pizzazz sentiment square using the middle die from the Stitched Shapes die set. The Whisper White sentiment piece was cropped using the smallest square die from the same set.
I used the Varied Vases stamp set for the outside sentiment. The Special Someone stamp set provided the sentiments on the inside squares and Sending You Thoughts for the final sentiment. I did have to use the masking technique for all three sentiments on the squares.
Next, I needed to decide what to do with the other three inside squares. I chose Thoughtful Blooms branch and dots to create the flowers. Originally, I simply stamped the buds in Gorgeous Grape. Then I decided that I needed some dimension on the buds. I used Highland Heather and slightly offset the buds from the original stamping.
How to….. Create the Inside Fun Fold
I found this fun fold on Pinterest posted by Beccy of Beccy’s Place. Beccy’s original card size was 4 in x 6 in. However, I’ve done all the math, and trial and error, so I could create this card in an A2 size, 5.5 in x 4.25 in.
Originally, I had stamped the outside pattern on a piece of Whisper White for the inside. It turned out way too busy. So, I pulled out two of the Soft Sea Foam 6 x 6 DSP from the Subtles collection. I needed a piece longer than 6 inches, and used tear and tape to connect the two pieces. However, don’t take off the tape cover or you will have a serious problem. Regular tape could also be used here.
Next, I cut an inch off each end leaving a ten inch long piece of DSP with the taped connection in the middle of the DSP.
If there is a hard part in this card at all, it’s the scoring. I used my SU! paper trimmer to score this, but any scoring board would work. Score the DSP at 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 inches. Accordian fold the paper so that the 2 inch ends lay flat and the taped center line is a mountain part of the fold.
Lesson Learned from Happy Accidents
About this time, it occurred to me that I’d made a mistake with my ribbon and since I’d already adhered the front together, I couldn’t fix my problem. I should have made the ribbon long enough to go all the way around the card to tie it closed. The card will fit inside a medium SU! envelope, put it will start to open as soon as it is removed from the envelope.
My second happy accident resulted in the strip of the outside paper being adhered to the inside of the card. I’d adhered the the inside paper and left a slight Gorgeous Grape and needed to fix it somehow. Enter the paper strip, and I like the way it ties the front together with the inside.
So Much Easier Than It Looks
Please give this card a try. It truly is so much easier than it looks, especially since you don’t have to figure out where to score.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. I’d love to hear what you think, and every comment is greatly appreciated!
Please stay safe, healthy, and isolated as much as possible. We are all in this together: world-wide cooperation.

Don’t do what I have done, and put off ordering from my wish list, especially from the mini-catalog. I seem to miss out because when these items run out, they are gone!
The Ornate Garden Suite is now available as a pre-order from the new 2020 – 2021 catalog. The suite also previews a new In Color, Bumblebee. Just look at all this gorgeousness!
The May Paper Pumpkin Kit:
The order dates are now through May 10th. As you can see below, the flyer for the kit is in black and white, for now. That’s because this kit will include new In Colors for 2020 – 2022. Just typing 2022 seems so unreal.
Again, thank you very much for stopping by my blog today!
I just love combining a color challenge with a sketch challenge, especially when it works out. Truth be told, the final result is not at all I started out creating.
Here’s my card, outside and inside:
Here are both challenge banners:
Color Throwdown 585
These four colors combine to create a beautiful combination. I had many choices for the teal requirement, but I thought Pretty Peacock would create a sharp contrast with the Calypso Coral. For my green, I chose Old Olive. I used Very Vanilla for the background, which I ran through the Big Shot with the Subtle 3D embossing folder. I also stamped the flowers on Very Vanilla so the neutral color would frame each flower. After many bouts of trial and error, I finally decided to use the basic pearls for the centers of the flowers.
Freshly Made Sketches 427
As you can see, I sort of, kind of followed the sketch. I do have the horizontal strip of paper, for which I chose to emboss using the Leaves 3D folder. The decision to just use dry embossed cardstock after trying a number of the Pretty Peacock DSP patterns. None of them really worked, so dry embossed cardstock seemed like the best choice.
Adding the Calypso Coral ribbon around the strip of cardstock helps with the movement of the card from the flowers to the ribbon, and down to the sentiment.
I used the cluster and the individual leaves from the Thoughtful Blooms stamp set (a FREE SAB item with $100 purchase) and stamped them in Old Olive. Originally, I thought I’d have leaves showing out of the bottom of the cardstock strip as well with more flowers there. Then, I decided that would stray too far from the clean cards for the Freshly Made Sketch challenge.
The last thing I needed to figure out was what to do with the senitment. I didn’t want to cover the dry-embossed strip of cardstock, so I started playing around with sentiments, what would fit, and how to include it. Finally, I decided to add an un-embossed strip of Very Vanilla under the Pretty Peacock. To help it stand out, I outlined it using an Old Olive marker.
Finishing Up
The sentiment on the inside is from Peaceful Moments, but the chain is from Thoughful Blooms. Originally, I wasn’t going to put a flower on the chain, but I had a smudge of Pretty Peacock ink and had to cover it. Happy accidents, right? At least I was able to get the three challenge colors on the Very Vanilla background, so it all worked out.
Finally, I added a piece of the Pretty Peacock DSP to the flap of a Very Vanilla envelope. Ta-da! This coordinated set was finished!
As always, thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. I’d love to hear what you think, and every comment is greatly appreciated!

Paper Players 481 is a Color Challenge
Color challenges are fun, and sometimes challenging! This one, however, was simple for me. I’d previously earned the punch for these fabulous flowers, and I recently earned the Thoughtful Blooms stamp set. I wanted to use the pair ASAP, and this challenge seemed to be a perfect match!
Here’s the challenge banner:
Here’s my card:
Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, and Coastal Cabana is such a calming color combination. Therefore, I wanted to keep the card clean to highlight just the colors.
I took layout inspiration from the current Fusion challenge, but made some adjustments. I think I am going to have to use the Thoughtful Blooms set to create a card without adjusting the layout and using the posted color scheme.
In order to get the branches and leaves I wanted, I used both the branches with leaves and the leaf trio stamps. I stamped all of these leaves and branches using Coastal Cabana. After stamping going up the left side, I stamped some leaves behind where the sentiment square would be placed.
I popped each of the seven flowers on dimensionals. Then I put some colored pearls on the center of each. At that point, I thought that I really needed something else, some sparkle. However, I didn’t want to clutter up the clean card. Wink of Stella to the rescue. It’s so difficult take a photo of the Wink of Stella, but I think you can see the sparkles on the flowers in the picture below:
