C4G #332 is for Fall Colors

Welcome back to the Cardz 4 Guyz biweekly challenge. I want to thank all of you who played along with my stars theme for challenge #331. Our host for challenge #332, Jolanda, chose Fall Colors, especially browns, for the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see the rest of the projects from the other design team members. As always, I’m blown away by the creativity and individuality when interpreting the challenges. We’d love to have you play along, so please upload your creations to our gallery.

I chose to use Pretty Peacock and copper from the Autumn Leaves suite and Very Vanilla, Burlap ribbon, along with Crumb Cake for my browns.

Here’s my fall card:

This absolute wonderful sentiment is the one I am using on the front of all the Thanksgiving cards I am making this year. I have a retired “Happy Thanksgiving” stamp for the inside, but this sentiment on the front reminds me that change can be a very positive thing.

What I Did:

  • The Pretty Peacock base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • After I ran the Very Vanilla. cardstock through the Cut & Emboss machine using the Falling Leaves embossing folder, I trimmed it to 4 by 5-1/4 inches.
  • The Very Vanilla inside measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches as well.
  • I used the dotted die from Autumn Leaves for the top right-hand corner of the Very Vanilla.
  • The large leaf was cropped from the specialty DSP from the Autumn Leaves suite and die set.
  • Then, I trimmed another piece of the specialty DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. I punched a 1-inch circle of the Pretty Peacock DSP for the envelope seal.
  • The veins and smaller leaves were cropped from Pretty Peacock. I used one of the basics embossing folders on the smaller pair of leaves.
  • I cropped the branches from copper foil and Pretty Peacock cardstock, again using dies from Autumn Leaves.
  • The burlap ribbon is part of a two-pack of Real Red and Burlap ribbon rolls. Simply wrap a length around the Very Vanilla cardstock and adhere on the back using tear & tape.
  • The large leaf and the sentiment are adhered using dimensionals. I used multipurpose liquid glue for the rest of the elements.
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the Very Vanilla cardstock and adere to the card base.
  • The final touch for the front was to add 3 speckled dots, again from the Autumn Leaves Suite.
  • I’m pretty please with the way this card turned out. I probably should’ve used more browns, but hope I got enough on the card to meet the challenge theme.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Have a Peachy Day!

A Color Challenge for the October Pals’ Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, the theme is a Color Challenge. Using Crumb Cake, Mango Melody, Cajun Craze and Mossy Meadow, the Design Team has created some great projects that you will all want to see. We hope that you will be inspired by all the amazing creations! As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment. Then, you will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Here’s my card in two versions:

For this absolutely adorable card, I used a tutorial video from Susan Campfield that I stumbled across on YouTube.  Her directions for creating the moving part is so much easier to watch than for me to explain it to you.  Truly, the moving part takes less than 5 minutes to create and anyone who receives the card will think you worked for a long time on it.  Don’t tell anyone how easy it actually is!

I don’t know why this video posted in such a massive size. Please excuse the size.

Measurements:

  • The Mossy Meadow base measures 41/4 by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches to create a tent fold card.
  • AFTER I ran the Crumb Cake cardstock through the Brick and Mortar 3D embossing folder, I trimmed it to 4-1/8 by 5-3/4. Then, I used my Cajun Craze marker to outline the Crumb Cake for definition.
  • I used the deckled rectangle dies for the Cajun Craze mat and the sentiment block.
  • The white cardstock for the inside measures my usual 4 by 5-1/4 inches.
  • That’s it for measurements.

Stamping and Cropping:

  • I used the large floral spray stamp from the Natural Prints stamp set for under the Cajun Craze mat. I stamped it in Mango Melody twice and cropped them out with the Natural Prints die.
  • Next, I cropped all the gnome pieces. I needed one hat, for which I used Mossy Meadow DSP (designer series paper) from the neutrals 6 x 6 inch DSP.
  • I cropped the legs/feet using a scrap piece of Mango Melody 6 x 6 inch DSP. When cropped, the die leaves an “X” on each foot, so I used a black marker to outline those marks. I also cut a piece of Mango Melody cardstock to 3/4 inch by 1 inch to attach to the top of the legs for the swinging mechanism. Thankfully, I still have my circle punches and used the 1/2 inch punch for the hole needed for the dimensional.
  • I needed three of the little oval circles, one for the nose and two for the hands. I cropped white ovals and colored all three of them using the SU900 natural tone blend. It’s the lightest blend from the set.
  • In my humble opinion, the gnome needed arms. I used two of the ovals for the hands. The sleeves are simply Mossy Meadow 1/2 inch by 5/8 inch pieces of cardstock. I glued the “hands” to the back of the sleeves.
  • HINT: The most important thing to remember when adding the arms is that they need to be glued in place. If you use dimensionals, they will interfere with the swinging movement. In addition, you have to be careful where you place them. My arms are sticking out more than I wanted. However, if I placed them any lower and closer to the body, it would interfere with the swinging. Believe me, I tried to get them closer to the body but couldn’t.
  • With that, I’d finished these dancing gnome cards. So cute! So easy!

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?

I did with the purchase of two of these NEW birthday organizer kits!  I got my email today saying that they have been shipped!  YEAH!

Here’s an unboxing video explaining the kit contents:

I got one kit for my mom and one for my aunt, neither of whom get out as easily as they used to do. I’m in the process of making additional cards to include with this kit, that I will make for them before I give them as a present.

Again, thank you for stopping by today! Please take just another minute and leave a comment. I’d love to hear from you.

Autumn Wishes for the September InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s September Blog Hop! This month’s blog hop is dedicated to leaves. As the weather begins to cool, the leaves begin to change colors and fall from the trees. We are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Here’s my leafy card:

The Fond of Autumn bundle made creating this card super quick!

Measurements:

  • The Cajun Craze base measures 4-1/4 by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches to create a tent fold card.
  • I also trimmed a piece of Cajun Craze to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the background of the card.
  • The white cardstock panel on the inside also measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches.
  • The last measurement is for the envelope flap. I used a piece of Old Olive 6 x 6 inch DSP trimmed to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches.

Stamping, and Heat Embossing:

  • First, I used the large floral/leaf/acorn stamp and Cajun Craze ink to create the background design on the Cajun Craze panel. Since I knew the very center of the panel would be covered, I just worked my way around the outside of the panel. I did rotate the stamp so that the pattern would appear more random..
  • Then, I used the Cajun Craze marker to outline the panel and added dimensionals to the back of the panel. I also stamped the bottom of the inside white cardstock panel and the bottom of the front of the envelope. Using a piece of scrap white cardstock, I stamped a small section of the leaves and punched out a 1-inch circle for the envelope seal.
  • I wanted/needed this to be a Thanksgiving card, so I used a (retired) Happy Thanksgiving stamp in Soft Suede for the inside sentiment.
  • Using a Versamark ink pad, I stamped the same floral/leaf/acorn stamp on white cardstock. In addition, I stamped three of the single leaves. Then, I added black embossing powder and heat set everything.
  • Coloring with the blends was a bit easier since the edges were all embossed. I used the Old Olive blends combo, as well as the Cajun Craze blends combo..
  • The acorn just peeks out under the sentiment, and I used the Crumb Cake blends combo for that acorn.

Cropping:

  • After I finished coloring, I used the detailed die from the bundle. This has to be one of my all-time favorite dies! Just look at the results, which come from another blog post, which you can see here.
  • For this card, I used the three pieces on the bottom of the first picture. In addition, I had three of the individually cropped leaves, to which I added dimensionals.
  • Next, I cropped the Soft Suede cardstock label using the Painted Labels die set.
  • I stamped the sentiment, from the Fond of Autumn stamp set, in Soft Suede and cropped it using a die from the Deckled Rectangles die set (another favorite). To ensure that the sentiment label would pop off the leaves, I outlined it with the Cajun Craze marker and added dimensionals.
  • Finally, I folded a length of linen thread in half and tied it in a bow. I added it to the Soft Suede cardstock label using a glue dot.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
