Bird Ballad, But No Birds in Sight
Yes, this really is DSP from Bird Ballad, and I think the gorgeous floral patterns created a very clean card for the Fusion Challenge.
Here’s the challenge banner:
This challenge always contains a sketch and a theme of some sort. I chose to combine the two, and this is the card I created:
The implicity of the sketch calls for a great deal of white space. Knowing that, I simply ran the white cardstock through my Big Shot using the Subtle embossing folder.
For the five circles, I decided which color I wanted to showcase, and I decided on the Calypso Coral. Therefore, the outside and middle circles are shades of the Coral ink. I also chose one circle of Pool Party and one of Daffodil Delight.
I first carefully punched the floral pieces using the 1-3/8 inch circle punch. After I finished those five circles, I decided I needed to add a mat under them. The outlines of all these images are already done in Basic Black, so I used that for these mats using the 1-1/2 inch circle punch. The sharp contrast makes the images pop right off the card. I glued the middle circle down using my Tombow adhesive. I adhered the next two circles with glue dots on the outside and Tombow overlapping the center. Dimensionals raised the two outer circles, giving the line of circles some depth.
Calypso Coral vs Pool Party
When I dry fit the pieces together, I realized Calypso Coral wasn’t going to work as the mat base. Therefore, I decided that the more subtle Pool Party which would allow the floral circles with black outlines to really shine.
The retired Pool Party ribbon anchors the circles so they don’t just float in the middle of the card. I also used the ribbon to emphasize the sentiment. Can you tell what punch I used for the sentiment? If you guessed the Everyday Label Punch, that would be correct. I simply trimmed both the white label and the black label to the shapes I wanted. I used my Stamping Write Basic Black marker to thinly outline the two ends of the white label.
The inside of the card also needed a sentiment. Here’s the inside I created:
Both of the sentiments come from the Colorful Seasons photopolymer stamp set.
The photo is very awkward, and I need to figure out a better way to photgraph insides.
As always, I finished by adhering DSP to the envelope flap and stamped Calypso Coral flowers on the bottom, right front.
Many Thanks and a Supply List

FMS394 and ctd549 for a Colorful Combination
These two challenges are two of my “favorites”, at least this week. The clean, fresh FMS sketch seemed to pair perfectly with ctd this week to create a cute little thank you card.
The challenge banners follow:
I chose to use the newly retired Bella and Friends stamp set, which I just realized was actually retired when the new catalog launched. Sadness.
Here’s my card:
Keeping it Clean and Simple
I needed all the white space on this card, but didn’t want it to just be plain white. Therefore, I used the Subtle TIEF, which quickly becamse my favorite and most used embossing folder. I get the best of both worlds: white space and a little, subtle texture.
My choice for the orange on this card is inspired by the Painted Seasons DSP using Grapefruit Grove. I’ve only recently opened the package of DSP and love the colors and most of the patterns, especially this simple repeating pattern.
Following the FMS layout and the ctd colors, I layered the DSP on a piece of Basic Gray. I also used Basic Gray for all the stamping, and for coloring in the bone, which seemed to fade right into Bella so I outlined it in Basic Black. While I thought this plan would work, I quickly found out the outline jumped off the card, and not in a good way. Therefore, I colored over the black and the gray with Smoky Slate, which really toned the bone down.
Putting the Card Together
The layering circle die set provided the perfect sizes of circle for Bella, and the scalloped mat peeking out from under her. Blueberry Bushel cardstock provided all the mats: card base, Bella’s circle, and the sentiment mat. I cropped both of the sentiment pieces using the Rectangular Stitched layering die set (a must have!). I also colored Bella’s collar using Blueberry Bushel. Originally, the heart from the stamp was colored using Grapefruit Grove, but I later decided to cover the heart with a single piece of bling from the metallic exposy shapes.
That’s it. Finished. A fresh, clean, card using a great color combination. All is well. Life is good.
Thanks for stopping by today! I know your days are busy, and I appreciate your time.
Have a Peachy day!

Bunny cards, lots of bunny cards
I’d made 20 Easter cards for my great nieces, ages 18 months and 2.5 years, to take to school and day care on Thursday. So, so cute, and they would have been good for the CTS and Color Throwdown challenges.
Here are just some of those cards since I’d already delivered some of them:
and the inside:
The Gingham Gala DSP came in very, very handy for this card, as did the Best Bunny stamp and punch. I did find out that it is much, much easier to stamp, then color all those bunny pieces before punching them out! Just believe me here.
All Those Parts and Pieces
Any time I am doing a mass production of cards I do all the parts needed first. For this card, that meant running cardstock through the Subtle TIEF in the Big Shot and then cutting down into strips. Then I used the two largest ovals from the Stitched Shapes die set out of various colors of cardstock. The mats for all these cards have ovals cropped out of them, but no one else knows once the gingham DSP covers them up. The DSP was all cut down to 4 x 5.25 inches. Next were 40 Pretty Label Punch pieces, since each card required two pieces. I used the retired “Happy Easter” stamp for the front and the Best Bunny stamps for the inside.
In between all these pieces, I was stamping, coloring, and punching bunnies. At one point, I just had piles of bunny pieces all over my grid paper on my desk.
About halfway through these cards, I realized I hadn’t counted all the steps needed for each card. However, by then I was too far into it and didn’t want to really know how much was left.
The Two-fer Card
While I was working on all these, I just happened to check the challenges for the week. I found out that, unknowingly I had nailed the CTS sketch for the week. When I checked the Color Throwdown challenge, I knew that I could cover both challenges with one card. Color Throwdown was orange, blue, and yellow. BAM!
Here’s that card:
Next, I Needed Another 20 Easter Cards for Me
But those cards will be shared on Wednesday, with another version, for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop. It’s another fun fold card, but it’s one of the easiest I’ve even done. Stay tuned!
Thanks for stopping by today.
Have a Peachy day!

Not at the Wire this Week for Global Design Challenge
It’s not Sunday evening yet, so I am ahead of myself for this week’s GDP#181 color challenge. The color combination Grapefruit Grove, Daffodil Delight, and Lemon Lime Twist just screams “spring” to me, so I ran with it.
Here’s the GDP challenge banner:
Here’s my card:
Watercoloring and Grapefruit Grove Specialty Foil
I started with some SU watercolor paper to create the background and used all three challenge colors. The background seems much more muted in the picture because the colors really stand out in person. I started by sprtizing the whole piece and then swished Grapefruit Grove diagonally across the paper. Next I started adding both the Lemon Lime Twist (which I think looks prominent in this photo) and Daffodil Delight. Of course, watercoloring means playing around with the inks until I was semi-happy with it. Originally, I wanted the Grapefruit Grove to take center stage in the watercoloring but the ink colors decided that wasn’t going to happen.
I thought the Daffodil Delight really got lost in the end result, so I used the bokeh dots from the Beauty Abounds bundle in the Ocassions catalog and stamped them randomly on the dry watercolor paper. Mission accomplished.
Layering Pieces
The Beauty Abounds bundle includes that gorgeous butterfly die, which I cropped from the Grapefruit Grove specialty foil paper from the Holiday catalog. I chose the sentiment, from the Beautiful You stamp set, mainly because it fit in the space. I really didn’t want to cover up the gorgeous butterflies at all. Therefore, I popped the cropped one inch block from the Stitched Shapes framelits, which is another go-to item for me.
Since I didn’t want just plain cardstock for the mat layers, I ran both mats through the Big Shot using the Subtle TIEF. This textured impression embossing folder has become one of my faves!! After I finished the whole card, I decided it needed something else. Therefore, I grabbed the Grapefruit Grove ribbon, which is FREE in the Sale-a-Bration catalog with a $50 order, and tied it at the far left of the card.
I hope the springtime colors inspire you just as much as me, or more.
Thank you for stopping by today. Comments are always welcome and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Have a Peachy Day!

Have to Love a Two-fer!
Stamp, ink, Paper # 188 challenge is to use a favorite stamp set, ink, and paper. Easy choice – Animal Expedition Suite, which I absolutely love. Paper Players # 430 is a sketch challenge, and it really fit this suite.
Here are the challenge icons:
So much fun to create this card! Here it is:
How could you not love this suite?
The colors in this suite are just as wonderful as the stamp and die bundle. The pattern on the background DSP includes Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party, which impacted the colors I featured on this card. The Pool Party cardstock was run through the Big Shot using the Subtle TIEF. Crossing my fingers and toes that this TIEF carries over! A different patter of the DSP was layered on the cardstock. I used a third DSP pattern for the horizontal strip of paper.
Now, the fun and relaxing coloring part. I stamped a rhino on a piece of Whisper White and then used the Stitched Shapes square to crop it out. As usual, I used a marker to enhance the stitches in the ditch, in this case I used Lemon Lime Twist.
Next, I stamped another rhino and cropped it using the Animal Outing thinlits. I originally colored the rhino with the Basic Black light and dark blends. I also colored the bird, but used Stamping Write markers along with the Lemon Lime Twist blends. After adhering mini-dimensionals to the back of the rhino, I layered it directly on top of the originally stamped rhino. Then I added the sentiment and had to just use my trimmer to get a size that would fit on the already layered card.
Too Dark
After finishing the card, I let it sit overnight. When I came back the following night, I decided I colored the rhino using the wrong blends. So, I again stamped and cropped it and started coloring again but used the Basic Grey blends. What a difference! Then I carefully layered the new rhino directly over the too dark rhino.
Here’s a close-up of the dimension I achieved with the mini-dimensionals and the two layers of rhinos:
I especially like the shadows created by the popped up rhinos and am glad I stamped a rhino on the underlying mat.
Finally, I used yet another DSP pattern to decorate the envelope flap. For the front of the envelope, which you can’t see, I stamped the giraffe from this adorable stamp set.
Now, I am happy.
Thank you for stopping by today. This two-fer was fun to create.
Have a Peachy day!
