Add Some Pink Flowers for Cardz 4 Galz # 268

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-2.jpg

Welcome back to the bi-weekly Cardz 4 Galz challenge #268. Our host for this edition of our bi-weekly challenge, Billie A., chose Add Some Pink Flowers for the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

Here’s my card:

I used the Beautiful Gallery DSP (designer series paper), and this pattern uses Basic Beige and Early Espresso. I added Petal Pink and Old Olive. All in all, this could be considered an easy peasy card.

Measurements:

  • The Early Espresso base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-`/4 inches
  • I trimmed a piece of Petal Pink cardstock to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches for the mat
  • The Beautiful Gallery DSP measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches
  • I also trimmed another piece of the DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • I punched a 1-inch circle of coordinating DSP and ran it through the XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal
  • I cropped the sentiment panel out of white cardstock using a Textured Notes die
  • The Basic Beige cardstock for the inside of the card measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches

What I Did:

  • First, I used two of the Stylish Shapes circle dies and cropped a circle out of the DSP and one from Old Olive cardstock
  • Next, I used the Petal Pink and Old Olive blends combos to color the cropped DSP circle and the DSP for the envelope flap
  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the pieces together
  • I adhered the DSP to the cardstock, then adhered the layers to the base of the card
  • Then, I used glue dots to adhere some Petal Pink diagonal ribbon to the DSP
  • I adhered the DSP circle to the Old Olive circle, then added dimensionals to the back of the Old Olive circle
    • Make sure your dimensionals will straddle the ribbon before adding them to the back of the circle
  • Stamp the sentiment using Old Olive ink and a sentiment from the With You in Mind stamp set on the scrap of the white cardstock
    • I probably could have used Basic Beige for the sentiment block but I wanted a contrast so the sentiment didn’t blend into the background
  • After adding dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and adhered it to the front of the card, I added three Petal Pink epoxy dots to the card
  • Then, I stamped the sentiment for the inside in Old Olive ink on the Basic Beige cardstock and adhered it to the inside of the base

Sparkles Christmas Challenge #180 is for the Animals & Trees

Welcome to the first Sparkles Christmas Challenge for 2026! I can’t believe it’s already New Year’s Day!

Billie A., our host for the Sparkles Christmas Challenge, chose Animals & a Tree for the theme. I used the same fun fold I’ve already used so many times for Christmas and New Year’s cards, but I just love it for using 5-1/2 by 12 inch pieces of DSP (designer series paper).

Please check out the challenges page for the creations by the other very talented design team members. When you’ve created your own card using our theme, please don’t forget to upload them to the challenges. We’d love for you to play along.

Here’s my card:

I used the Beary Christmas DSP and the punch from a few years ago. I needed to fussy cut the inside tree and baby polar bear. Both sentiments come from the Beary Christmas stamp set.

I’ve posted so many cards using this fold, and you can see some of them here, here, here, and here.

The Template and More:

I know I had seen a video for a 4 panel accordion fold using a piece of DSP measuring 5-1/2 by 12 inches. I used it for this card, and for some strange and unknown reason, didn’t write down the source, even though I am fairly certain it was a video tutorial from the annual catalog DSP.

Therefore, I used the measurements from Connie Stewart’s tutorial from April 3, 2025 for measurements to make my template. Here it is:

  • Since the base of this card is DSP, I added a piece of 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches piece of cardstock to the back of the last panel of the DSP
  • You will need a piece of DSP measuring 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • Punch a 1-inch circle from coordinating DSP and run it through the XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal
  • For this card, I did adhere the front flap to the second flap after adding the ribbon
    • In order for the DSP to not bend after adding the ribbon, I adhered two pieces of cardstock measuring 1/2 by 5-1/2 inches long to either side of the first fold
    • This explains why I adhered the first fold closed
  • I used the Everyday Arches dies and to crop the white, Real Red, and the DSP layers
  • Then, I ran the outside Real Red arch through the Cut & Emboss machine using the Birch Wood embossing folder to add texture and interest
  • This card is bulky and will probably need extra postage, however it will still fit inside a Stampin’ Up! medium envelope
  • Because of the bulk, I only used dimensionals to adhere the sentiment on the front, which I cropped using the Stylish Shapes die
  • I used a mini-glue dot to secure the bow
  • Other than those two things, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere everything else together

With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Let’s See Some Holly for the September Sparkles Christmas Challenge # 176

Welcome to the September, 2025 edition of the Sparkles Christmas Challenge # 176! Our host for this month’s challenge, Deb, chose Let’s See Some Holly for the theme. When you get finished here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to view the creations from the very talented members of our design team. After you’ve created your own themed card, please don’t forget to upload it to our gallery.

Here’s my holly card:

I am posting this a couple of days late. In the U.S. we just finished a three day holiday weekend to celebrate Labor Day for the workers who keep us going in so many, many different ways. You think I would’ve had something click because my birthday was Labor Day, September 1st. I always thought it was kind of ironic that I was born on Labor Day, so my birthday rolls around on the holiday weekend every 6 years or so. Anyway, I am 2 days late. This whole post is going to be short and sweet because I used retired products as they are the only things I had with holly. I am going to have to rectify that situation.

Measurements and More:

  • The card base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches
  • The Mossy Meadow DSP (designer series paper) for the background measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches
  • Trim a piece of the Mossy Meadow DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • I trimmed the diagonal silver and white DSP to 5-3/8 by 1/2 inch
  • The holly DSP measures 1-1/2 by 5-3/8 inches
  • I cropped the sentiment circle and the mat circle using the Stylish Shapes die set, the pink DSP is the reverse side of the holly DSP
  • Next, I punched a 1 -inch circle of the pink DSP for the envelope seal and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker
  • I stamped the holly leaves and berries using black ink on scraps of white cardstock for the front of the card
  • After trimming a piece of white cardstock to 5-1/4 by 4 inches for the inside, I stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow and the holly leaves & berries using black ink
  • I colored the leaves using the light Mossy Meadow blend and the berries with the light Polished Pink blend and a clear Wink of Stella brush
  • The loopy-loop Mint Macaron ribbon is retired, but I love using the loopy-loop so I couldn’t resist
  • I used glue dots for the loopy loop bow
  • Next, I added dimensionals to the back of the sentiment circle and the pink mat circle as well as the holly and berry piece
  • I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the rest of the pieces

With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

I told you this post would be short and sweet!

Thank you for stopping by today!

Popping Up for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #635

Welcome back for another Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #635. This sketch fit perfectly with my very new-to-me arches die set! There are multiple reasons why a sketch challenge works, one of which is that the sketch is open to interpretations. Another reason is that if your mojo is dragging a little, a sketch challenge can help get it going again.

Here’s my card:

I used the Terrific Toadstools stamp set and coordinating punch for this card. The DSP (designer series paper) is from the Sale-a-Bration promotion at the beginning of the year. However, this card can easily be recreated using the 6 x 6 inch DSP packs since the colors I used are current. The colors are Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, Fresh Freesia, Pumpkin Pie, and Early Espresso. This color combination is bold, bright, and whimsical.

Here’s the sketch from the AHSC #635:

Measurements:

  • The Melon Mambo base measures 8-1/2 inches by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches
  • I trimmed the background DSP to 5-3/8. by 4-1/8 inches
  • Using the arches die set, I cropped a Melon Mambo border, a smaller arch from the toadstool DSP, then an arch from white cardstock
  • I trimmed a piece of DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • Punch a 1-inch circle from coordinating DSP for the envelope seal
    • After punching, run the circle through the XYRON create-a-sticker to create the seal
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card
  • Trim a piece of DSP to 3/4 by 4 inches for the bottom of the inside cardstock

Stamping & Assembly:

  • I am working my way through my Basic White cardstock scraps and used them to stamp the toadstool caps and stems using Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, and Early Espresso ink
  • Punch out the pieces using the toadstool punch
    • HINT: It’s easier to punch the pieces individually rather than trying to line everything up when stamping
    • I was able to use three pieces of scraps for each of the stamped pieces I needed punched
    • The thicker stem needed to be fussy cut, but its not a complicated cut, even for this lefty.
  • Using the same ink pads, stamp the background toadstools on the white cardstock arch
  • Use Early Espresso ink to stamp the outside sentiment from the Terrific Toadstools stamp set, and crop using a Stylish Shapes banner die
  • I used a Pumpkin Pie marker to outline the sentiment banner
  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the pieces together
  • Stamp toadstools on the bottom of the inside of the card, then adhere the strip of DSP to the bottom
  • Stamp the sentiment, from the Spring Corners stamp set (which is available as one of the Online Exclusive products) in Early Espresso
  • Adhere the layers of the background, arches, including the white top layer, and Melon Mambo border to the front of the card
  • Adhere the stems to the toadstool caps
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the toadstools and adhere to the white cardstock arch
  • I needed to use ribbon as shown in the sketch, so I added Fresh Freesia ribbon using glue dots so it would be peeking out from the ends of the sentiment banner
  • Add dimensionals on the back of the sentiment banner so that they straddle the ribbon and adhere to the front of the card
  • Adhere the inside cardstock to the base of the card
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set

Going on Safari with Cardz 4 Galz #216

Welcome to the first bi-weekly Cardz 4 Galz challenge for 2024! Our host for this challenge, Dawn W., chose On Safari as the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see how the rest of the design team members used sequins in their projects. We always love it when you play along with our themes, so please remember to upload your project to our gallery.

Here’s my On Safari card:

Measurements:

  • The Old Olive base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • The Old Olive cardstock frame piece measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
  • I used two pieces of white cardstock, each measuring 4 by 5-1/4 inches. One is under the frame on the front and the other is on the inside of the card.
  • I trimmed a piece of Sweet Sorbet 6 x 6 inch DSP (designer series paper) to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • Then I punched a 1-inch circle of Old Olive 6 x 6 inch DSP and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker.
  • That’s it for the measurements.

Stamping and Coloring:

  • After running the frame piece of Old Olive cardstock through the Cut & Emboss machine using the Stitched Greenery die, I used the Stylish Shapes dies for the banner and the four squares on the frame.
  • Using Pecan Pie ink, I stamped the vines and branches on the white cardstock for the front.
  • HINT: line up the frame piece of cardstock on top of the white cardstock. I used a pencil to very, very lightly mark the corners of each square so I knew where to stamp the vines and branches. After stamping, and letting the ink dry thoroughly, I carefully erased the corner marks. I did the same thing for the sentiment banner.
  • I used the Old Olive and Pecan Pie markers to color the vines and branches.
  • Then I stamped the sentiment in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and let it thoroughly dry before erasing the pencil marks.
  • Using a 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock, I stamped one monkey, then punched it out. Then I repeated the process three more times.
  • HINT: By stamping and punching one monkey at a time I was able to minimize the waste, which left me with a decent size leftover piece.
  • I colored the monkeys using the Crumb Cake combo blends markers. Then, I added rosy cheeks and touches of pink in the ears using the lightest natural tone blend.
  • Using the trio of bows die from the Playing in the Rain die set, I cropped four Sweet Sorbet bows for the monkeys. Cute!
  • Since the front sentiment allows this card to be an all-occasion card, I didn’t stamp a sentiment on the inside. I will do so when I decide for which occasion I will use this card.

Assembly:

  • I wanted to make sure that the frame didn’t collapse on itself, so I lined the frame of the Old Olive cardstock frame using foam adhesive strips.
  • Between the sentiment banner and the squares I added mini-dimensionals.
  • Next, I adhered the white cardstock to the adhesive strips on the frame.
  • Using multipurpose liquid glue, I adhered the white cardstock to the base of the card.
  • Then, I used liquid glue to adhere the adorable bows to the monkeys.
  • After dry-fitting the monkeys, I carefully added liquid glue to the pieces of the monkeys that would be on the outside of the frame.
  • I added two mini-dimensionals under each monkey to adhere it to the white cardstock.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Thanks for stopping by today.
