Welcome back for another Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #635. This sketch fit perfectly with my very new-to-me arches die set! There are multiple reasons why a sketch challenge works, one of which is that the sketch is open to interpretations. Another reason is that if your mojo is dragging a little, a sketch challenge can help get it going again.
Here’s my card:
I used the Terrific Toadstools stamp set and coordinating punch for this card. The DSP (designer series paper) is from the Sale-a-Bration promotion at the beginning of the year. However, this card can easily be recreated using the 6 x 6 inch DSP packs since the colors I used are current. The colors are Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, Fresh Freesia, Pumpkin Pie, and Early Espresso. This color combination is bold, bright, and whimsical.
The Melon Mambo base measures 8-1/2 inches by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches
I trimmed the background DSP to 5-3/8. by 4-1/8 inches
Using the arches die set, I cropped a Melon Mambo border, a smaller arch from the toadstool DSP, then an arch from white cardstock
I trimmed a piece of DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
Punch a 1-inch circle from coordinating DSP for the envelope seal
After punching, run the circle through the XYRON create-a-sticker to create the seal
Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card
Trim a piece of DSP to 3/4 by 4 inches for the bottom of the inside cardstock
Stamping & Assembly:
I am working my way through my Basic White cardstock scraps and used them to stamp the toadstool caps and stems using Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, and Early Espresso ink
Punch out the pieces using the toadstool punch
HINT: It’s easier to punch the pieces individually rather than trying to line everything up when stamping
I was able to use three pieces of scraps for each of the stamped pieces I needed punched
The thicker stem needed to be fussy cut, but its not a complicated cut, even for this lefty.
Using the same ink pads, stamp the background toadstools on the white cardstock arch
Use Early Espresso ink to stamp the outside sentiment from the Terrific Toadstools stamp set, and crop using a Stylish Shapes banner die
I used a Pumpkin Pie marker to outline the sentiment banner
Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the pieces together
Stamp toadstools on the bottom of the inside of the card, then adhere the strip of DSP to the bottom
Stamp the sentiment, from the Spring Corners stamp set (which is available as one of the Online Exclusive products) in Early Espresso
Adhere the layers of the background, arches, including the white top layer, and Melon Mambo border to the front of the card
Adhere the stems to the toadstool caps
Add dimensionals to the back of the toadstools and adhere to the white cardstock arch
I needed to use ribbon as shown in the sketch, so I added Fresh Freesia ribbon using glue dots so it would be peeking out from the ends of the sentiment banner
Add dimensionals on the back of the sentiment banner so that they straddle the ribbon and adhere to the front of the card
Adhere the inside cardstock to the base of the card
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set
Thank you for stopping by today!
Have a Peachy Day!

Welcome to the first bi-weekly Cardz 4 Galz challenge for 2024! Our host for this challenge, Dawn W., chose On Safari as the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see how the rest of the design team members used sequins in their projects. We always love it when you play along with our themes, so please remember to upload your project to our gallery.
Here’s my On Safari card:
Measurements:
The Old Olive base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
The Old Olive cardstock frame piece measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
I used two pieces of white cardstock, each measuring 4 by 5-1/4 inches. One is under the frame on the front and the other is on the inside of the card.
I trimmed a piece of Sweet Sorbet 6 x 6 inch DSP (designer series paper) to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
Then I punched a 1-inch circle of Old Olive 6 x 6 inch DSP and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker.
That’s it for the measurements.
Stamping and Coloring:
After running the frame piece of Old Olive cardstock through the Cut & Emboss machine using the Stitched Greenery die, I used the Stylish Shapes dies for the banner and the four squares on the frame.
Using Pecan Pie ink, I stamped the vines and branches on the white cardstock for the front.
HINT: line up the frame piece of cardstock on top of the white cardstock. I used a pencil to very, very lightly mark the corners of each square so I knew where to stamp the vines and branches. After stamping, and letting the ink dry thoroughly, I carefully erased the corner marks. I did the same thing for the sentiment banner.
I used the Old Olive and Pecan Pie markers to color the vines and branches.
Then I stamped the sentiment in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and let it thoroughly dry before erasing the pencil marks.
Using a 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inch piece of white cardstock, I stamped one monkey, then punched it out. Then I repeated the process three more times.
HINT: By stamping and punching one monkey at a time I was able to minimize the waste, which left me with a decent size leftover piece.
I colored the monkeys using the Crumb Cake combo blends markers. Then, I added rosy cheeks and touches of pink in the ears using the lightest natural tone blend.
Using the trio of bows die from the Playing in the Rain die set, I cropped four Sweet Sorbet bows for the monkeys. Cute!
Since the front sentiment allows this card to be an all-occasion card, I didn’t stamp a sentiment on the inside. I will do so when I decide for which occasion I will use this card.
Assembly:
I wanted to make sure that the frame didn’t collapse on itself, so I lined the frame of the Old Olive cardstock frame using foam adhesive strips.
Between the sentiment banner and the squares I added mini-dimensionals.
Next, I adhered the white cardstock to the adhesive strips on the frame.
Using multipurpose liquid glue, I adhered the white cardstock to the base of the card.
Then, I used liquid glue to adhere the adorable bows to the monkeys.
After dry-fitting the monkeys, I carefully added liquid glue to the pieces of the monkeys that would be on the outside of the frame.
I added two mini-dimensionals under each monkey to adhere it to the white cardstock.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Welcome to the Cardz 4 Guyz challenge #320. This challenge is a two-week challenge, as always. Our host for #320, Billie A., chose wet or dry embossing for the theme. When you are done here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see the inspirational pieces by the rest of the design team members.
My posted challenge card is below:
I did emboss the background DSP using the retired subtle embossing folder. That’s one of my favorite folders and I just can’t let it go yet.
However, while driving home from work today (Monday evening) I thought I’d create a quick clean and simple guyz sympathy card. I’ve been seeing a lot of cards created using the New Horizons (retired) DSP (designer series paper) and thought I could make use of both dry and wet embossing. This card literally took me 15 minutes to make, and that’s including hunting for a sympathy sentiment I thought would fit with this card.
Here’s my favorite, quick, clean and simple card for challenge #320:
Measurements and Assembly:
The Blackberry Bliss base measures 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
After I embossed a piece of white cardstock to Painted Texture 3D embossing folder, I trimmed the cardstock to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
HINT: Trim your cardstock after dry embossing it. If you trim it before, especially with a 3D embossing folder, you might have a problem getting the size you want.
The New Horizons DSP measures 4-3/4 by 2-1/2 inches.
I matted the DSP with a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock measuring 4-7/8 by 2-5/8 inches.
After rubbing a scrap piece of Blackberry Bliss with my embossing buddy, I stamped the sentiment, From Special Moments, using VersaMark.
Then, I covered it in white embossing powder and heat set the powder with my heat tool.
Next, I cropped the sentiment using a banner die from the Stylish Shapes die set.
I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the white cardstock and the DSP panel to the card base.
After adding dimensionals to the back of the sentiment banner, I added it to the front of the card.
Since I made this card literally right before I sat down to type, I didn’t get the envelope or envelope seal done yet. But, I did get the card done in time to write this post.
Thank you for stopping by my short and sweet blog post today.
Welcome to the September edition of the monthly Sparkles Christmas challenge # 140. Our host this month, Billie A., chose a clean and simple theme. When you are finished here, I hope you will visit the challenge website to see the inspirational projects from the rest of the design team members. Then, I hope you will play along with us and post your creations in our gallery!
Here’s my very clean and simple Christmas card made from pieces I already had:
Measurements and Such:
Just like my clean and simple card, this blog post will also be clean and simple.
The Night of Navy base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 41/4 inches.
I trimmed the Balmy Blue layer to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches..
I already had the white piece of cardstock, which I’d embossed with the snowflake wintry 3D embossing folder. When I first embossed the cardstock, I had used a blender brush with Balmy Blue ink to randomly blend color over the embossed pattern.
I’ve also had the large snowflake cropped out for quite some time. It was originally cropped from Smoky Slate cardstock. I used a blender brush and silver ink to give it a silvery sheen.
The sentiment comes from the retired Christmas Means More stamp set. I don’t think I will ever sell that set because I also have a Grinch stamp to go with the sentiments. Using my Stamparatus, I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy ink, and cleaned the stamp. Then, I reinked the stamp using Versamark ink and stamped it. I used clear embossing powder, which I heat set.
Next, I cropped the sentiment using the banner die from the Stylish Shapes die set. Using the Balmy Blue marker, I outlined the banner before I added dimensionals on the underside.
I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card and stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy Ink.
With the exception of the sentiment banner, I adhered the other pieces using multipurpose lliquid glue.
Ta-da! Finished! Clean, simple, and recycled. It doesn’t get any better than that!
