We’ll Walrus Be Friends is simply adorable!
Who Doesn’t Love a Cute Walrus?
Tonight I had a few choices of things to do: make a card, write a blog, and/or grade 40 five paragraph essays. So far, I am two for three, and grading will happen as soon as I can post this blog.
I’ve made a number of cards with this so stinking cute stamp set, and kow I have many more in my future. I am already hoping it carries over in the next annual catalog.
Here’s my card:
Easy Peasy
This card came together very quickly with just a few supplies. I purposely chose to keep it simple as an example for beginner stampers. Of course, it would be easy to also step it up a notch and still be fabulous.
The Seaside Spray DSP is from the 2019 – 2021 In Color DSP stack. The Seaside embossing folder is still on backorder, but I think this pattern gives the impression of moving water.
This stamp set doesn’t have a coordinating die set, but I wanted to do some fussy cutting on the walrus to be able to pop it up on dimensionals. However, I wanted to make sure that I was consistent with my border. Enter my Stamparatus. While I didn’t take a picture of how I outlined this stamp, I did think to take one for the next time I used it. I put my paper down on the Stamparatus grid and then laid the clean stamp on top of the paper. Using the stamp, I traced around the stamp very lightly with a pencil.
Here’s an example of the results of tracing around the large magnolia (since I haven’t purchased the dies yet):
Since I was using my Stamparatus, I simply picked up the stamp on the acrylic pad, then stamped it back down on the cardstock.
I used the Smoky Slate blends combo for he walrus, and the light Basic Black blend for his snout. The ice and ripples were colored with the Seaside Spray blends combo. I then fussy cut out my walrus and carefully erased the remaining pencil marks. Easy Peasy. I do really like the consistent white border and the way it fits on the top of the card.
Finishing Touches
I used the Seaside Spray metallic ribbon on the lower third of this card. I was especially bow challenged when creating this card. Therefore, I wrapped the ribbon around the base, created a bow and used glue dots to attach it.
The fabulous sentiment fit perfectly on one of the Nested Stitched Rectangles, which also fit perfectly on this card.
I also used the stitched rectangle for the Whisper White frame.
I created stitches in the ditch using my Seaside Spray marker for both the frame and the sentiment rectangle.
As I am also known to do, I stamped a different adorable walrus on the front and used a different Seaside Spray DSP pattern.
With that, I had finished the card and envelope. This card just makes me smile, a lot.
