Sending Thanks with the November IRBH!

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s November Blog Hop! November is a time of gratitude and thanksgiving, and we’ve made projects that say “thanks!” to special people in our lives. We are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I’ve just about finished my Thanksgiving cards, but I’ve shared them in previous blogs. For this blog hop, I used the Splendid Day Specialty DSP for this fun fold card.

Here’s my Splendid Day sending thanks card:

Once I picked out the papers, I knew I needed a fun fold to showcase the gorgeous foils.  Enter Pinterest, where I found this easy card tutorial from Beth McCullough at Stamping Mom, which you can see here.  Part of what I really enjoyed about this video is that Beth shares her templates and it’s very easy to follow along and create a card with her.

Here’s my version of her templates:

Measurements:

  • The Fresh Freesia cardstock back base measures 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches.
  • The second pieces of cardstock measures 4-1/4 by 11 inches. For scoring, you can do it one of two ways. First, score this piece at 2, 3-3/4, 7-1/4 and 9 inches. OR, you can score at 2 and 3-3/4 inches, then flip the paper 180 degrees and score at 2 and 3-3/4 inches on the opposite end.
  • The Splendid Day Specialty DSP foil piece for the very front measures 3-3/4 by 4-1/8 inches. The second piece measures 1-3/4 by 4 inches.
  • The reverse side of the foil DSP is this beautiful floral Fresh Freesia lily-like pattern. The two outside pieces measure 3/4 by 4 inches. The piece for the very inside of the card measures 3-1/4 by 4 inches.
  • HINT: The next time I make this card, I am going to use 1/8 inch borders instead of 1/4 borders.
  • I trimmed a piece of the Fresh Freesia 6 x 6 inch DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • I used scrap pieces of Fresh Freesia banner on the front and the white cropped piece the inside sentiment.

What I Did:

  • I would strongly suggest that you follow along with Beth’s video for the process to make this card. Her video would make so much more sense than if I tried to explain what I did here in writing.
  • The front sentiment and banner come from the Fond of Autumn bundle. I stamped the border in Fresh Freesia ink and quickly covered it in clear embossing powder, which I then heat-set.
  • Next, I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark and covered it in white embossing powder, which I also heat-set.
  • HINT: Don’t forget to swipe your embossing buddy over the cardstock before stamping. The group of tools for heat embossing can be found on page 49 in the current mini-catalog. It’s well worth purchasing the tools which will make your heat-embossing experiences much easier.
  • After I heat-set the sentiment, I cropped it using the Autumn Bouquet die set. This is the only place where I used dimensionals because there’s already enough bulk in the card.
  • The inside sentiment comes from Lisa Curcio’s $1,000,000 stamp set Charming Sentiments. I stamped it using Fresh Freesia ink on white cardstock.
  • Then, I cropped it using the deckled rectangles die.
  • Next, I outlined the white panel using the Fresh Freesia marker.
  • Finally, I tied a small bow using the Fresh Freesia ribbon. I was so thankful that it came out on the first try. I attached it using a glue dot.
  • With that, I finished this coordinated card and envelope set.
