You’re Otterly Amazing with the March SU! Demo Fun Fold Blog Hop!

Welcome back to the monthly Stampin’ UP! Demonstrators Fun Fold Blog Hop. If you love fun folds, you’ve come to a hop filled with really great projects by some very talented fellow demonstrators. When you finish here, I hope you will hop along with the rest of the demos using the links below.

It’s just a given that fun fold cards also post to the Creative Creases challenge. Debbie Mageed at Secret Stamper coordinates both this hop and the challenge. Hopefully, you will be inspired to upload your own fun fold project to the challenge!

Here’s my Otterly Amazing fun fold card:

This past week I was on Spring Break and found this fun fold tutorial by Terri Gaines with Create with Terri Gaines and went just a tad overboard creating cards using this fold. Today’s card is one of six I’ve made in the past 3 or 4 days. Once you have figured out what papers and such that you will be using, you’ve already spent more time than it takes to create this fun fold. This is definitely a card for beginners because all you need to know is how to score and trim paper according to directions. Terry included a free PDF for the card on the video, but I went with my favorite and created a template to use.

Here’s my template, which includes all the scoring and trimming measurements:

What I Did:

One of the best things about this card is that the Otterly Amazing die set crops images from the DSP (designer series paper)! Therefore, I didn’t need to color anything!

  • Trim a piece of DSP (designer series paper) to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope
  • Punch a 1-inch circle of coordinating DSP and run it through your XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal
  • Stamp the sentiments, found in the Otterly Amazing stamp set, in Pretty Peacock on white cardstock
  • Using the school of fish stamp, randomly stamp just the outside folded front pieces, as shown in the picture, in Pretty Peacock
  • Adhere the 3 panel layers according the template
  • Crop the otter images from the DSP using the Otterly Amazing die set
  • Adhere the single otters to the inside part of the card base
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the otters on the front and adhere to the panel #2
  • Crop the sentiment and add the ribbon
  • Carefully adhere dimensionals to the back of the sentiment banner so that they won’t show outside of panel #2 when opened
  • Slide the front sentiment under the the otters as shown
  • Add three irregular river pebbles on the front of the card

With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

S is for …Seagulls, Sunday Stamps #356, and Cardz 4 Guyz # 348

When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

I combined this C4G challenge with the SSC356 challenge for my card.

Here’s what I created:

Here’s the Sunday Stamps Challenge Sketch:

I used Boho Blue & Pebbled Path cardstock and blends combos for this card as my main colors, with a pop of Pumpkin Pie color for the beaks and feet. These adorable Friendly Seagulls are from the Sale-a-Bration promotion which ended at the end of February. As with everyone, life happened, and this is the first time I was able to play with this set.

My daughter is coming home from San Francisco for her school’s Spring Break in two weeks. To say I am thrilled to see her in an understatement!

What I Did:

  • The Pebbled Path base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches to create a tent fold card
  • I knew I wanted a piece of ribbon around the front of the card, I needed to trim another piece of Pebbled Path cardstock to 5-3/8 by 4-1/8 inches
    • you can’t see it because it is covered by Boho Blue cardstock, but it does allow the ribbon ends to be hidden
  • I dry-embossed a piece of Boho Blue cardstock using the So Swirly embossing folder,
    • I trimmed it down to two pieces: 5-3/8 by 3-7/8 inches and 5-3/8 by 1-1/4 inches
      • The gap I created between the two pieces of cardstock allowed me to adhere the ribbon flat between the pieces and helped me follow the sketch
  • I colored a length of the white diagonal ribbon using the dark Pebbled Path blend
    • This has become one of my favorite things to do with white ribbon because I can use any dark blend color I need to coordinate with my card colors
    • I used small pieces of tear-&-tape to adhere the ends of the ribbon behind the front layer
  • I trimmed a piece of the 2023-2025 6 x 6 inch InColor Boho Blue DSP (designer series paper) to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • Then, I punched a 1-inch circle of Pebbled Path DSP and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal
  • Stamp the seagulls using Tuxedo Black ink and crop using circles from the Stylish Shapes die set
    • I colored the wings using the light and dark Pebbled Path blends for all three seagulls
    • I colored the beaks using the dark Pumpkin Pie blend
    • I first colored the french fries using the dark Lemon Lolly blend and added a layer of light Pumpkin Pie blend
  • The white cardstock on the inside measures 5-1/4 by 4 inches
  • Since the embossed sentiment will resist the color of the inked shells, I stamped it in VersaMark ink, added the white embossing powder and heat set it
  • When I stamped the seashells on the cropped sentiment banner, I added some shells on the inside of the card as well
  • While it may look like a totally followed the circle theme of the sketch for the inside, I didn’t start out to do that
    • I needed to cover a smudge of black ink, so I cropped a circle using the Stylish Shapes dies, trimmed it to fit, re-stamped and colored the seagull and fries
  • With the exception of the top seagull circle and the sentiment banner on the front, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere all the pieces of the card together
  • After adding the irregular river stones (from the Otterly Amazing suite) to the front of the card, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set

Use the Word Christmas for the October Sparkles Christmas Buddies Challenge # 165

Welcome to the October, 2024 edition of the Sparkles Christmas Challenge! Our host for # 165, Debs., chose Use the Word Christmas for our theme. When you get finished here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to view the creations from the very talented members of our design team. After you’ve created your own themed card, please don’t forget to upload it to our gallery.

Here’s my card:

I am so thankful that the Magical Meadow DSP carried over for this holiday season. The DSP did all the work for this card. I embossed the DSP using the So Swirly embossing folder to (hopefully) add movement to the snow scene. This card definitely falls into the easy-peasy category.

What I Did:

  • The Misty Moonlight base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches
  • After dry embossing the DSP with the So Swirly folder, I trimmed the DSP to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches
  • Trim another piece of DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • Punch a 1-inch circle from coordinating DSP for the envelope seal and run it through the XYRON create-a-sticker
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card
  • I stamped the inside sentiment on the white cardstock using Misty Moonlight ink
  • Adhere a piece of ribbon (I used the retired Misty Moonlight ribbon) around the DSP
  • Here’s a set of pictures to show you how I adhered the ribbon:
  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere pieces together
  • Adhere the DSP to the front of the card base
  • After using your embossing buddy on a scrap piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock, stamp the sentiment using VersaMark ink
  • Cover the ink with white embossing powder and heat set
  • Crop the sentiment using a deckled rectangle die
  • Crop the leafy branch from a piece of Misty Moonlight patterned DSP
  • Adhere the sentiment using dimensionals
  • Use mini-dimensionals and liquid glue to adhere the branch to the sentiment and DSP
  • Adhere the white cardstock to the inside of the card
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
