Welcome to InKing Royalty’s November Blog Hop!

This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by popular songs – this month’s song is “We are Family.” As you might guess, our Blog Hop today is filled with projects that are inspired by family – we have a wide variety of projects today! Live and Learn (at least I hope I did!)

If you are like me, there are times you think you will wait to order a specific product/bundle. Then, when you go to place your order, the products are gone. Just gone before you ordered. Well, that’s exactly what happened with the Signs of Santa die set and DSP. Just gone.

However, I had ordered the stamps, and I wanted to make a sweet Santa card with this set for each of my (2 year old and 1 year old) great-nieces. It took me three times to get something with which I was happy, but I had so much fun creating this card, and the coloring was extremely relaxing.

Here’s the outside and inside of my “We are Family” card for my great-nieces:

Signs of Santa

So.much.fun. I hope this sweet Santa card inspires you to color your own images from this fabulously adorable set. I used Real Red for Santa and Mrs. Claus, the ribbon, and the cardstock.. The greens are Shaded Spruce, including the mats) and Soft Sea Foam.

One of the elements that caused me to try, try, and try again was Swirly Scribbles “snow”. Even though I wanted the snow to be Whisper White, I also wanted it to stand out just enough to be seen. When I finally decided to crop the Swirly Scribble from the Glossy White cardstock I was able to get the look I wanted for the snow.

I needed to figure out something that would keep the presents from floating on the snow. Thankfully, I have a Stamp-a-ma-jig and used that for the ridge of the snow line under the presents. I used my Basic Black Stamping Write marker to color just that ridge line on the pole stamp. It was easy to line up the ridge using the Stamp-a-ma-Jig,

Falling snow was a necessity, but I knew I couldn’t use the Sofly Falling embossing folder since I was coloring each stamp. I fell back on to a technique I copied from my upline, Brian King (check out his post before you leave this hop!), and used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to place drops of glue simulating snow falling.

Adding Bling!

Finally, I wanted some subtle bling on the card. Therefore, I pulled out my Wink of Stella clear and gold pens. Santa’s belt buckle was the only place where I used the gold Wink of Stella. Layers of the clear Wink of Stella are on the trim and pom pom of Santa’s hat, the snow on the pole, and Mrs. Claus’ dress. Wink of Stella is very difficult to photograph, but I hopebits of sparkle show up on the following photos:

Coloring is Relaxing
