InKing Royalty February Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s February Blog Hop!

Today’s Blog Hop today is filled to the brim with projects that celebrate birthdays. The opening line from The Beatles’ “Birthday” song ran through our heads as we joyfully created the birthday-themed creations we share with you today.  After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Picture Perfect for Fab Friday # 131

Third time is a charm for this blog hop.  I started two other cards, but neither card was working so I  have those pieces set aside for another day.  After calling it quits for the second card, I then pulled out this fabulous Picture Perfect DSP and matched it with the Fab Friday # 131 sketch.

Here’s my card:

I absolutely love all of the papers in this 6 x 6 stack.  Absolutely.Love.  The coordinating stamp set, Picture Perfect Birthday,  is pretty fabulous as well, and that’s where I got the sentiment.  It felt like this card was falling into place when I realized this sentiment would work with the Everyday Label punch.  This confetti paper is all about party time, and the banner is from the Picture Perfect stack as well.  While I matted the banner in Basic Black, I chose to really make the sentiment pop with a mat of Bermuda Bay.  A base of Berry Burst and bow in Bermuda Bay were the finishing touches.  I’m getting better, sometimes, with bows so I don’t feel completely bow challenged lately.  A naked envelope just didn’t seem to fit with this card, so I cropped another piece of Picture Perfect DSP for the flap.

Fab Friday # 131

This sketch is simple and clean, which works well with this DSP.  I just pulled the banner to the left of center instead of the right, and I was finally able to get a birthday card finished.

Here’s the sketch:

Happy birthday for my DH

I needed a special birthday card for my Dear Husband this week.   I kind of had an idea of what I wanted to do, but found exactly what I wanted with a YouTube video for a double z-fold card by Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts.  Her video was so easy to follow and I kept pausing the video so I could cut along with her measurements.  The card looks complicated, but it wasn’t at all and it was fun to create.

Here’s the card:

:

The first picture is of the closed card, second one shows the inside.  The DSP is from the True Gentleman suite, and it is fabulously masculine without smacking you over the head with it.  I used the Happy Birthday thinlit and cropped it for 3 layers.  The bottom is Night of Navy, middle is Tranquil Tide, and the top is Wood Textures DSP.  The bases are all Very Vanilla. I tend to have a difficult time with liquid adhesives with this thinlit, and I don’t trust myself to use snail adhesive with all these layers.  Enter my Xyron machine for the save. The inside sentiment is from the Picture Perfect Birthday photopolymer stamp set, another MUST HAVE suite.  I used Chocolate Chip ink for the inside sentiment.

My DH was quite impressed and initially thought it took a long time to create.   I was able to convince him it was not as complicated as it looks.  I’ll definitely do this one again!
