Welcome to the new Cardz 4 Galz bi-weekly challenge #203 for today, July 13, 2023. Our host for this time, Debbie, chose cats or kittens for the theme. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the design team created. There’s also a call for new design team members or guest designers for a month (2 challenges). If you are interested, you can find the information there.
Here’s my cat card:
Any time I see this cat, I always want to use this sentiment. Can’t you just hear the sarcasm just looking at him?
While I used the Pampered Pets stamps and DSP, the format of this card appears to be more involved than it really is. You can use this layout for any card using any supplies.
I have a challenge for you – I just saw that I made a mistake when putting this card together. Can you find it? You might not see it, but once you do, you can’t unsee it.
Measurements:
Trim Pebbled Path, one of the new In Colors, cardstock to 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, and score at 4-1/4 inches.
Trim a piece of Real Red cardstock to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
Trim two pieces of coordinating DSP to 3-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches.
Trim a piece of DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
Punch a 1-inch circle of DSP for the envelope seal and run it through the XYRON create-a-sticker.
Crop a piece of Real Red cardstock using one of the Deckled Rectangle dies. I actually cropped this out of the Real Red background. No one will see the ugly underneath.
Fussy cut the cat.
Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card.
Assembly:
Use multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the Real Red cardstock to the base of the card.
Use liquid glue to adhere the DSP pieces on angles going in opposite directions. I prefer to have the top piece angling to the top right of the card because it draws your eyes across the card.
Use your embossing buddy to wipe down the red cardstock for the front panel.
Stamp the sentiment using Versamark ink.
Cover the sentiment with white embossing powder and heat set it.
Add dimensionals under the cat and adhere him to the top part of the red cardstock.
Tie a tiny bow of Real Red ribbon and adhere to the cat using a glue dot. I was having a real bow-challenged issue with this tiny bow, but it all worked out.
I don’t know what sentiment I am going to use on the inside of the card yet. It will depend on the recipient and the situation. Therefore, I used some of the removable adhesive to hold it in place for the time being.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal.
Welcome to the Cardz 4 Galz challenge #154. Lynda chose a cute dogs theme for National Dogs’ Day. This two week challenge starts today, August 26, 2021. I hope you will pop over to the challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team created as well. We all look forward to seeing what you create in our gallery!
Here’s my National Dogs’ Day card:
I don’t think I will ever tire of the Pampered Pets DSP (designer series paper), stamp set and coordinating dies. The red stitched ribbon and black/white baker’s twine was also part of the suite of products. The DSP is retired, but the stamp set, dies, and ribbon duo is still available. I must remember to add it to my next order.
What I Did:
There are only a few measurements you need for this card. To start, the Real Red base measures 5-1/2inches by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
The DSP for the envelope flap measures 2-1/2 inches by 6 inches.
The white cardstock for the inside measures my normal 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
There is a piece of black cardstock right on top of the red cardstock for a distinctive border between die punches.
I used the tailored tag punch and just punched away on the various dog DSP patterns. I’ll admit I have enough punches to create another card, but that’s for another day.
When I had enough punches, I started dry-fitting them on the black cardstock. Of course, using the repositionable tape was a huge help with the dry-fitting and trying to find a pattern arrangement with which I was happy.
I after I was happy, and after I had adhered all the full-sized punches to the black cardstock, I trimmed them by hand using my paper snips.
The adorable schnauzer is on the DSP and a coordinating die crops it perfectly! The schanuzer got popped up using dimensionals so he would straddle the ribbon.
Then, I wrapped a length of the ribbon and baker’s twine around the card together and tied it in one bow.
After stamping the sentiment using the Momento Tuxedo Black ink pad, I cropped it with a stitched rectangle die. Then I outlined the cropped rectangle using the Real Red Stamping Write Marker and popped it up on dimensionals.
Finally, I stamped “Happy Birthday” on the white cardstock for the inside panel.
That’s it. It definitely looks more complicated than it was to create the card.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this card.

Welcome to another Cardz 4 Guyz challenge! The theme for this challenge is to use dogs or puppies in your project. I chose dogs, and used the Pampered Pets dies along with some leftover items from the retired suite of products. In addition to the old, I used the new Bark 3D embossing folder for the background of my card.
Here’s my card:
I just love schnauzers! We had one, Brandy, when I was growing up on Long Island. Brandy did not like the snow and would kind of hop/jump instead of walking through it. Happy memories!
A Four Square Background
I really wanted to keep the color scheme simple with just Real Red, Basic Black, and Basic White. It’s such a classic color combination.
I used Read Red for the card base. It measures 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches to create a tent fold card.
I started with a piece of white measuring 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches. Then, I ran it through the Big Shot using the Bark 3D embossing folder. With the 3D embossing folders, you will find it much easier to emboss before trimming. After I embossed the white cardstock, I trimmed it to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
I used white cardstock on the inside of the card. It also measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
Each of the four DSP (designer series paper) squares measures 1-5/8 inches square.
While I had the DSP out, I trimmed a piece for the envelope flap. It measures 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches.
The Real Red mat under the DSP squares measures 3-1/2 inches square.
Assembly
Before adhering the embossed white cardstock to the base, I attached 3 pieces of ribbon to the white cardstock. The ribbon doesn’t reach all the way around since I just needed it to fold under. I placed a piece of tear-and-tape vertically on the back to hold each piece in place.
I dry-fit the DSP squares in place before adhering them down on the red square of cardstock with multipurpose glue.
Then, I adhered the red cardstock to the embossed white cardstock with multipurpose glue.
I did have a schnauzer left on the remaining Pets DSP, so I cropped it with the Pets die. The schnauzer is attached using dimensionals.
The front and inside sentiments are stamped using the Momento Tuxedo Black ink pad. Then, I cropped the front sentiment using one of the stitched rectangle dies. In order to have the sentiment straddle the ribbon, I used dimensionals along just the top and the bottom of the sentiment block.
Finally, I used a glue dot to attach one of my remaining pets trinkets to the schnauzer’s collar.
Finishing Up
Here’s a picture of the inside of the card:
The sentiment also comes from the Pampered Pets stamp set.
I’ve never really figured out what to do with the paw die. However, I really think it works as a border on the bottom.
Finally, I trimmed the DSP on the envelope flap, punched a circle seal from DSP and ran it through my XYRON create a sticker. The seal lives inside the envelope until I am ready to use it.
With that, I’d finished this card/envelope/seal coordinated set.
I’d love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.
