Welcome back for another MMM challenge. Here in Central Florida we had a few days of storms last week. Rainy days are perfect for reading or crafting, but I was working. However, I did create an April Showers card using the Under My Umbrella photopolymer stamp set and coordinating punch.
Here’s my card:
This Ornate Garden DSP retires in just a few short weeks, but I’ve really enjoyed using it throughout the year. Since January I’ve really come to love Terracotta Tile and Rococo Rose and will be sorry to see them go!
The clean and simple layout is from the Try Stamping on Tuesday #503 challenge, which ends on May 2nd, so you have time to play along with it and with this MMM challenge.
Measurements:
I used Terracotta Tile for the base, and it measures 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches to create a tent fold.
The Pear Pizazz mat measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. I did crop the oval shape for the sentiment panel from the center of this mat.
The floral Ornate Garden DSP is trimmed to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
While I was trimming this floral DSP, I trimmed a piece for the envelope flap to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches.
Next, I trimmed the Terracotta Tile cardstock to 2-1/4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. The Pear Pizazz DSP 2 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
I cropped the ovals from scraps of white for the sentiment using the Layered Ovals die set.
The white cardstock panel for the inside of the card measures my usual 5-1/4 inches by 4 inches.
Putting It Together
I picked a single color DSP from the Ornate Garden DSP for the umbrella and boots. Then, I stamped the umbrella and boots from the Rococo Rose DSP and punched the umbrella out.
I did stamp the boots on a scrap piece of white as well. After coloring in the soles and top rims of the boots, I fussy cut both of the boot pieces. I adhered the DSP boots to the white boots.
Since I was using a photopolymer stamp set, I was able to stamp the sentiment using the Momento Tuxedo Black after cropping the oval.
Even after outlining the white ovals with the Terracotta Tile Stamping Write Marker, I knew the top oval needed something more. Therefore, I used the raindrop stamp and stamped it randomly using VersaMark. Then I heat embossed the drops using clear stamping powder. These drops are very subtle, but do make a difference.
Here’s a close-up of the raindrops:
The only dimensionals I used are under the scalloped oval, the umbrella and the boots.
Since I created this card for my daughter, I used a sentiment from the Strong and Beautiful stamp set for the inside.
Finally, I adhered and trimmed the DSP on the envelope flap. I also punched a 1 inch DSP circle using the DSP from the umbrella and boots. I ran this circle and through the XYRON create-a-sticker to use to seal the envelope.
This card./envelope/seal coordinated set was finished!
Thank you so much for stopping by today.
I’d love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.

The Paper Craft Crew 389’s challenge is a horizontal sketch for this week. I’ve actually created two cards for this challenge. The first one used the Ornate Garden and In Good Taste DSP. I really like the way it turned out. However, when I went back to the sketch, I realized I left out a panel. So, I went back this morning and created a new card for the sketch, this time using In Good Taste, the Neutrals 6 x 6 DSP, and Sail Away DSP. This masculine card does have the panel I missed the first time. Hopefully, by the time I finish this post I will have figured out which one I will post to the challenge.
Here are my cards:
Here’s the challenge banner:
Measurements:
Since both cards are basically the same layout, all measurements are for both cards. I am just going to focus on the Smooth Sailing card for descriptive purposes since it has the extra panel.
I used Night of Navy for the card base and it measures 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches. This card is a tent card.
The in Good Taste background is trimmed to 5-3/8 inches by 4-1/8 inches.
Next, I trimmed the Smooth Sailing instrument DSP panel to 2-1/2 inches by 3-3/4 inches. In order to have this panel stand out, I used a piece of scrap Basic Black for a 2-5/8 inches by 3-7/8 inches for a mat.
While I had that DSP out, I trimmed a piece to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
In order to have some continuity between the panels, I trimmed the neutrals Night of Navy DSP to 2-1/2 inches to 4 inches. The height of this panel measures 2-1/2 inches, as does the width of the Smooth Sailing DSP. I also used this DSP, trimmed to 1/2 inch by 5-1/4 inches for the bottom of the inside card panel.
Stamping, Cropping, and Finishing
At this point, I trimmed white cardstock piece for the inside of the card to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches, my standard measurement. Since I knew this would be a birthday card, I used the “With a great big wish for happiness” stamp from Sending You Thoughts.
Then, I needed three long tabs on the side. I thought the sentiments from the Special Someone stamp set would fit the bill perfectly. Using a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock, I stamped all three sentiments.
Next, I stamped the anchor on the white cardstock, and on the lower, left, front corner of the envelope.
All the stamping for this card was done using the Momento Tuxedo black ink.
I used the Smooth Sailing anchor die to crop it out.
The actual birthday sentiment was cropped using the rectangle stitched die. I punched the first two sentiment tabs using the Classic Label punch. I’ll be using that punch with these sentiments a lot more since they fit so perfectly.
Finally, I assembled the card pieces. The only dimensionals used are under the “happy birthday” sentiment, under the anchor, and there’s one under the steering wheel to level it out with the anchor.
Since the sketch contains a ribbon, I used the Smooth Sailing bakers’s twine to loop around the steering wheel.
I just needed to adhere the inside panel and trim the envelope flap. With that, I’d completed this card/envelope set.
I think I have made up my mind. I think I am going to post the Ornate Garden card to the challenge. In order to post both of them, I’d have to have two different posts, so Ornate Garden it is…….unless I change my mind again.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. I’d also love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.
Have a Peachy Day!

Ornate Garden’s Floral DSP Does All the Work
As soon as I saw the challenge sketch I knew I was using Ornate Garden.
Here’s my card:
Here’s the challenge banner:
The Freshly Made Sketches challenges are all about clean and simple. Since the Ornate Garden DSP does all the work and carries the card. I used three of the coordinating colors for the different mats. When I am planning a card and need more than one mat, I lay pieces of cardstock on top of each other in layers. I moved the cardstock around in different orders underneath the DSP. That’s how I decided that the Early Espresso needed to be the mat for the DSP. That mat really frames the cardstock and helps it to pop off the card.
I used Old Olive for the base mat, then topped it with Terracotta Tile. Honestly, this color didn’t impress me until I purchased the Ornate Garden products. Now, I really like how it coordinates with this suite! It’s a show stopper for this pattern! After running this mat through my Big Shot in the Subtle 3D embossing folder, I layered it on top of the Old Olive.
Following the Sketch
The sketch calls for a simple sentiment banner, but the banner I created just seemed too plain by itself, even with this fabulous font and sentiment. I decided to use the Terracotta Tile ink, the Daisy Lane stamp set, and the small daisy punch to create a daisy. After stamping and punching two daisies, I just needed to layer then together.
I used dimensionals for the layered sentiment banner and the daisy. In order to keep the daisy on the same level of the banner, I only put one dimensional on the left side of the daisy. The liquid multipurpose adhesive allowed me to glue the right side of the daisy directly onto the sentiment banner.
Finishing Touches
The clean and simple lines of this card are very pleasing to the eye, at least in my humble opinion. The only embellishment I thought I needed was for the center of the daisy. I used my clear Wink of Stella to cover just the center. It’s a very subtle touch, which works well with the challenge to keep it clean and simple.
I used the fern stamp from Daisy Lane to triple stamp the inside bottom right corner. I did the same thing to the bottom right corner of the envelope.
After adhering a piece of the same pattern DSP to the envelope flap, I had finished this card set.
