In just a few hours, 12:01 am MT, the Clearance Rack will be loaded with retiring stamp sets. Stamps sets….on clearance? Yes, please!
On the 27th, at 10 am MT, the trimmer blades will be available until supplies run out. How many orders will you be placing to be able to get groups of 3 trimmer blades?

Magnolia Lane DSP is Beautiful!
As a demo with a great hobby, I need to really plan out my purchases, so I’ve only gotten the Magnolia Lane DSP and the Magnolia 3D embossing folder. I used two different patterns of the DSP with a debossed magnolia flower for the focal portion of this card.
Here’s my card:

And here’s the sketch:

As you can see, I was very literal about using the sketch for inspiration. I wound up using the debossed side of the magnolia, but I thought it needed something to make it stand out. I didn’t want to add color, so I wound up using the clear Wink of Stella to highlight each of the debossed sections. While I feel semi-satisfied, my husband likes the card, so I am leaving it alone.
Putting It ALL Together
I really gave my trimmer a workout for this challenge. I kept trimming and trimming until I got a layout with which I was happy.
My next challenge was the greeting. I knew that I wanted to leave the white space at the bottom, but I also needed a sentiment. This one, from Free as a Bird, fit the space and seemed to have a balancing effect. After I create a simple banner, I stamped it, outlined the banner using the Petal Pink marker, then popped the whole thing up on dimensionals.
Dimensionals also pop up the darker magnolia circle, which I cropped using the Stitched Shapes die set. I used the Layering Circles die set, which provided the mat for the magnolia.
I really enjoy sketch challenges because of the given layout for inspiration. However, it’s always interesting to see how many different variations of cards are posted to the individual challenges each week.
Thanks so much for stopping by today.
Have a Peachy day!

FUSION Easter Bunny Challenge
FUSION is a fun challenge because there are choices: use the sketch, use the photo, or combine the two. Both the sketch and the Easter bunny wreath inspired me for this challenge. After I figured out the easiest way to do this sketch challenge, I made four cards out of the different Whole Lot of Lovely DSP papers.
Here’s my favorite out of the four cards:

I like this card because of the bold Tranquil Tide embossed base and the coordinating DSP. The patterns in the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP stack are either soft (Pool Party, Powder Pink, etc.) or bold (Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Tranquil Tide, Crushed Curry, etc). All of the patterns are a lot of fun to use.
Here’s the FUSION Easter Bunny challenge:

Here are the other three cards I created:

Finally tried folding the DSP back diagonally
I’ve seen many, many cards on Pinterest that had the DSP folded back on the front of the card, but I’d never tried it before (at least I can’t remember if I have). I resorted to this when my geometry skills failed me while trying to make nesting triangles, and the fold were MUCH easier.
In the group of three cards, there’s one using the same DSP as my favorite, but the difference is the base color. I used the new basketweave TIEF on Pool Party, and flipped the piece of DSP over. It’s a much softer look than the Tranquil Tide base. I used the leaves TIEF to emboss the Pear Pizazz, Tangerine Tango, and Tranquil Tide bases. If you haven’t gotten any of these TIEF folders, you owe it to yourself to do so! Thankfully, the basketweave TIEF is carrying over into the new catalog.
Stitched Shapes and Layering Circles die sets
I really think one of my most used die sets are the Stitched Shapes dies, followed closely by the Layering Circles dies. Both these sets combined to create my small and sweet sentiment base. I also used a coordinating Stamping Write marker to outline the stitched ditch on the Whisper White circles. I really like the effect of emphasizing the ditch because, with a fast glance, the “stitching” looks real.
Mini-dimensionals provided just enough of a pop to give the sentiment some dimension. The colored cardstock has one regular dimensional and three mini ones (to accomodate the different layers of paper at the point). Then I decided to use the enamel shapes in the corners of the folds to mimic buttons, or snaps.
The sentiment is from the retired Circle of Spring stamp set. I was surprised when I realized that this is the only stamp I have that says anything about spring. Maybe that means I need to get more stamp sets??
I hope I’ve inspired you to try the FUSION challenge, which is usually weekly but is a two week challenge this time to allow for Easter.
Have a Peachy Day!

Myths and Magic
This is my second post for today, but since my fearless (upline) leader is a founding member of this challenge, I wanted to play along.
The theme this week for Global Design Project # 127 is Sale-a-Bration. Since SAB is the same time period as the Occasions catalog, and the fact that I had all these pieces ready to go, I used the Myths and Magic DSP and coordinating stamp set.

My card isn’t crooked, but my picture taking skills are definitely crooked. However, I am supposed to be grading reports (UGH!), I need this break to post to be short and sweet.
Fussy cutting
I fussy cut the knight and dragon from the Myths and Magic DSP. Since they already have beautiful colors and sparkle, I didn’t have to color anything. I used the stripes embossing folder for the card background, and a piece of the DSP for the bottom part. This beautiful Fresh Fig and Basic Grey side has the fun clouds in Pool Party and Whisper White on the back side, which is the bottom layer of the circled sentiment.

Here’s the board for this week’s challenge:

Like I said, this has to be short and sweet.
Have a Peachy evening!

It’s a Magical Day
The Occasions catalog is a plethora of have-to-have products, of which the Magical Day bundle is one! Between the very colorful DSP and the stamp set/die set bundle, the magical possibilities are endless. The sentiments, “Have a Magical Day” and “You are One of a Kind” can be used for birthday, all occassion, congratulations, and thank you cards. I’m really hoping that this bundle carries over into the new annual catalog.
Here’s my card for this challenge:

Paper Players 382 sketch
There are many times when I have a difficult time cutting into DSP I love. I have to almost force myself to not hoard all of the paper, especially when the patterns on the Myths and Magic DSP are so varied and perfectly coordinated. When I do cut it, I then have a very difficult time covering it up on a card. This card was no different. Love the paper, and very difficult to cover it up.
For this card, I used a variety of patterns of this special DSP, but really had to plan out exactly what I wanted to show on the final card. While working on this card, I found myself gravitating towards the dark Fresh Fig color, I realized I needed something to lighten it up. That’s when I decided to use the scales pattern in Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive for the back horizontal banner.
More possibilities for Magical Day
Now that I have taken the plunge with this DSP, it will be easier the next time. Look for more to come!
I welcome your comments, so please feel free to leave a comment.
Have a Peachy day!

Freshly Made Sketches # 323
FMS sketches are always clean and simple. I pulled out the Picture Perfect DSP for the sketch, and then decided to use the sentiment from Magical Day. Pieces were cut, mats were trimmed, circles cropped, sentiment stamped, card assembled, then I felt something was missing. Enter Party Pandas, and the sitting Panda holding the balloon seemed perfect.
Here’s my card:

Magical Day
I just love, love, love this 6 x 6 DSP stack, so much so that I’ve already ordered another stack. The two sides of this paper coordinated beautifully, as always. The circles on the left and chevrons on the right are very graphic and seem to balance each other. I left open space on the black mat which gives the appearance of matting without actually doing it. The peach scalloped circle was cropped using the Layering Circle die set from the bottom mat to cut down on carstock waste. Whisper White sentiment base was cropped using Stitched Shape circle dies. A Bermuda Bay Stamping Write marker highlights the stitching in the ditch of the circle. Stamping Dimensionals gave some height to the sentiment.
Last Minute Party Panda
Once I got everything together, I started to think that there was nothing connecting the sentiment to the card. I have thoroughly enjoyed using the Party Pandas, so I thought… why not here as well. What could be more magical than a sitting panda flying off the large senitment circle layers? I stamped him, then fussy cut him out and popped him up using the mini-dimensionals, which allowed the string to tuck under the sentiment.
