This group of demonstrators loves to create fun folds, and I can always find inspiration from the projects on this hop! While some fun fold cards can be a bit more involved, this joy fold card is pretty basic. Face it – who doesn’t love the surprise of a fun fold card? Just let the recipient think it took you much more work than it really did. The joy fold is simply a card within a card.

Here’s my Hey Chuck joy fold card:

We have started a new school year and my mind has been mush and I’ve been lacking mojo. What to do when you don’t have mojo – you go to Pinterest! From Pinterest I found Kathi Ondus’ video for her Hey Chuck joy fold card. You can see that video here. The first time I made this card, I completely CASE’d Kathi’s card. The one pictured above was the one I created using her layout and coloring with the blends. I took the idea of the full sun on the front from a card in the catalog using this bundle.

Measurements:

I used Kathi’s measurements for the card.
The Copper Clay base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 scored at 4-1/4. By necessity, this is a tent fold card.
The Copper Clay panel for the front measures 4 by 2-5/8 inches.
I used a Calypso Coral mat for the front, and it measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
After I embossed the Very Vanilla piece for the front with one of the Basics 3D embossing, I trimmed it to 4 by 5-1/4 inches.
The Very Vanilla piece for the front measures 3-7/8 by 2-1/2 inches.
The Very Vanilla inside piece measures 5 by 7-1/2 inches, scored at 3-3/4 inches.
I trimmed another piece of Very Vanilla for the inside card to 3-1/2 by 4-3/4 inches.
I used scraps for inside sentiment, the sun on the front, and all the critters, cake, and skateboard. I already had the fence piece stamped and cropped from Soft Suede, which is now retired but still loved.

Stamping, Coloring, and Assembly:

Kathi’s instructions on her video are very easy to follow, especially her use of the blends for coloring.
I stamped all the critters, cake, and skateboard using Momento Tuxedo Black ink.
I colored all the pieces using the Copper Clay, Calypso Coral, and Daffodil Delight blends combos.
All the sentiments were stamped in Copper Clay.
I only added dimensionals under the rooster and cake on the front. All other pieces were adhered using multipurpose liquid glue.
The final touch was the addition of the three In Color Copper Clay dots on the front.
