Welcome to the weekly Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge! Challenge #656 is for Team B, which is my team. I love getting kickstarted with a sketch, then just letting the card come together. Sometimes, I know exactly what I want to do. Other times, like for this week’s challenge, the card evolves. Everyone on Team A and Team B would love for you to play along with the sketches and then post your creations to the challenge gallery. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow to see the creations of the design team. We hope our projects inspire you to play along with us.
Here’s my card:
Here’s the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #656 layout sample:
It’s just a given that if I can create a fun fold card while using a sketch challenge, I will do it. It’s also a given that I will post fun folds to the Creative Creases Challenge, coordinated by Debbie Mageed at Secret Stamper. Hopefully, you will be inspired to upload your own fun fold project to the challenge!
I found this 4 panel accordion fold card on Connie Stewart’s, from Simply Simple Stamping, YouTube channel. You can find her video tutorial here. I was so happy to find this fold because I’ve been wanting to show the beauty of this DSP. This 4 panel card lets the DSP shine!
Template & Tips:
Of course, I created a template. My templates are handwritten because it’s easier and faster for me to do it that way than trying to make a pretty computerized template.
BIG TIP: When trimming your DSP (designer series paper) for this layout, place the side you want to show down on your paper trimmer! Trust me on that.
I also trimmed a piece of the Garden Green 6 x 6 inch DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
Next, I punched a 1-inch circle out of the floral DSP and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal. I started doing these seals during COVID and liked it so much, I have been do it since then.
Putting the Card Together:
Following Connie Stewart’s video, or the measurements on my template, would be much clearer than if I tried to type everything out for you
I used Garden Green, Strawberry Slush, and Basic White cardstock for the base, arches, and inside panel for this card
I cropped the leaves on the front from Garden Green cardstock using the Impressions Abloom die set
The flowers were stamped using Strawberry Slush, Peach Pie using the Impressions Abloom stamp set
I used Daffodil Delight and Crumb Cake for the centers of the flowers, stamping the Daffodil Delight ink first
The outside sentiment comes from the Coneflower Celebrations stamp set, which I cropped using the banner from the Stylish Shapes die set
The inside sentiment comes from the Simply Said stamp set
I stamped both sentiments in Garden Green ink
I added dimensionals under the outside sentiment banner and the two Strawberry Slush flowers
I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere all the other pieces
While this card is bulky and will require extra postage, it will fit in a medium SU! envelope
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set
As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I get to start pre-ordering products today from the upcoming mini-catalog which starts in January. As soon as I get my new products, I will make sure to start sharing cards made with new products.

Here’s my double-easel fun fold card:
The Thinking of You sentiment is so versatile and I don’t know yet what I will need for the reverse sentiment. Therefore, I left the back panel blank so I can add that sentiment later.
This card was inspired by a card posted to Pinterest by Mikaela Titheridge, a UK Stampin’ Up! Demo. Here’s her gorgeous card:
Mikaela’s Pinterest post said she was inspired by a card from Emma Goddard, another UK Stampin’ Up! Demo. It just so happens that my upline, Brian King from Stamp with Brian, knows Emma and he was able to get her card and dimensions for me. Woo-Hoo!
Here’s Emma’s card:
Measurements:
Here are the measurements I received for Emma’s card:
Cardstock & DSP: Blackberry Bliss 11″ x 4 1/4″ Blackberry Bliss 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ Blackberry Bliss 3 1/2″ x 2 3/8″ Basic White 3 3/8″ x 2 1/4″ DSP Scene Design 5 1/4″ x 4″ DSP Blackberry Bliss 5 1/4″ x 4″ Thick Basic White 6″ x 2 1/8″ (scored at 1 1/2″ & 3″) Thick Basic White 3″ x 2 1/8″ Garden Green – Die cut with flower stems x1 DSP Scene Design 7cm x 5cm or 2 7/8″ x 2″ DSP Blackberry Bliss 7cm x 5cm or 2 7/8″ x 2″ Basic Black – Scrap for sentiment
Double-eas
What I Did:
I used the floral Irresistible Designs 12 x 12 Specialty DSP (designer series paper) for the front and inside smaller easel
Using a blending brush and the Secret Sea ink pad, I added color to the floral DSP
HINT: I really wanted more of a Cloud Cover color, so I added light layers of ink first and then darkened as I went
Don’t forget to wipe down the DSP as you color so the white pattern shines through as it resists the ink
I did color the inside easel DSP darker so I’d have a contrast with the front of the card
The three colors I used are Basic White, Cloud Cover, and Secret Sea
I used the Impressions Abloom dies for the white and Secret Sea sprays of leaves, as well as cropping the front ovals
The butterfly comes from the Coneflower Celebrations stamp and die set
The sentiment comes from the Beautiful Motifs stamp set, which I cropped using the Stylish Shapes banner die

Here’s my flying seagull fun fold floral card:
A colleague is moving to South Florida in just a couple of weeks. This card was created so 10 of us would be able to sign it.
I’m also going to enter this card in the Creative Creases Challenge, where it’s always Anything Goes with a Fun Fold.
The Flying Seagull
Mary Deatherage from Stamps -n- Lingers always has easy-to-follow video tutorials. I used her video directions and measurements to create this flying seagull card. One of the best things for this card is that Mary provides a free PDF directions, which was especially helpful when trimming the DSP for the front of the card. The following is from her PDF
“Use the Paper Trimmer and, starting on the left side of the DSP panel, cut a 2” panel, then a 1 1/2″ panel, then a 4″ panel, another 1 1/2″ panel and finally a 2″ panel. Tip: cutting the DSP this way creates a contiguous scene across the card base.”
After I finished this card, I made myself a template so I could easily recreate this fun fold two more times. I found it was much, much easier to trim all the pieces I needed before I started assembling the card. I should’ve made myself a template for the DSP trimming and will do so as soon as I finish this post.
