Global Design Project # 200
This week’s challenge is a designer, Janneke De Jong, CASE challenge. In this case, CASE means “copy and selectively edit” the sketch.
Here’s the designer’s card:
My original thought was to combine two challenges, which you already know I love to do. The second challenge called for a masculine card, but I didn’t pay attention to the deadline and missed it. Surprised? I think not.
Since I already had masculine cards on my mind, I decided to use the Come Sail Away Suite. The colors, stamp and die bundle, DSP, and the Memories and More Card Park are spectacular. I highly recommend the complete Suite, item 152715, or starting with the bundle of the stamp set and dies, item 151066. Don’t forget to get the DSP, item 149481, as well. I just checked, and the inventory is low, so if you want this must-have bundle, you need to order it ASAP.
Anyway, here’s my card:
While I followed the designer’s card closely, I did edit a few things. The designer card has 3 obviously grouped items in the bottom left. I used the lighthouse, wheel trinket, and the sentiment for my three items. Instead of using an embossing folder on the background, I used very light DSP, which contrasts with the Crumb Cake cropped elements. The coordinating Night of Navy/Sahara Sand baker’s twine really completes this card, although I could have used twine for the same effect. The designer’s card has bling on the card. I didn’t think bling would be appropriate, but three Night of Navy enamel dots, from the Happiness Blooms dots, placed in a triangle are subtle additions to the card.
After I stamped the front of the envelope with the anchor, and added DSP to the envelope flap, I had finished my card for this challenge.

By Now You Know…..
I love two-fers! Any time I can combine a color challenge (FabFriday168) and layout challenge (Just Add Ink #467), I am game.
Here are the banners for both challenges:
The Fab Friday colors are bright and happy and, to me at least, lend themselves to a whimsical card. Just Add Ink’s layout can be sophisticated, just as easily as it can be fun. I went with whimiscal and fun.
Here’s the inside and outside of my card:
Fab Friday Colors
In keeping with all my other blonde angels, I used the Pineapple Punch marker to color this angel’s hair. However, with just that one color, her hair looked very flat, so I pulled in Mango Melody to highlight her hair. I also used the Pineapple Punch DSP for the top 2/3 of the card.
Lovely Lipstick provided the color for the angel’s shoes and the enamel dots on her dress. I also used Lovely Lipstick DSP for the bottom third of the card.
I used Bermuda Bay in three somewhat subtle areas. First, I colored the dress using the blends combo. Second, I used the marker to color the stitching in the ditch created by the Stitched Shape dies. Finally, I pulled some retired ribbon to create a border between the two DSP pieces.
The final color, Pacific Point, provides the card base and the rotated mat for the angel.
Four colors accomplished. All the pieces were dry-fit and then attached using dimensionals and Tombow liquid glue.
Opinions
The four colors are pretty bright, but I really thought it worked all the way around. My DH and DD did not think so because they both thought the Pineapple Punch DSP on the top of the card was too bright. Did I mention that I had already adhered all the pieces?
In an effort to appease both of them, I decided that I would use a piece of vellum over the Pineapple Punch DSP to mellow it out. After some measuring, cropping, and very careful placement, I was able to get the vellum adhered behind the Pacific Point mat. At that point, I needed to figure out how to adhere at least the top corners of the vellum. I used the thin line glue to place a dot in each of the top corners and then covered the very small dots of glue with two more enamel dots from the Happiness Blooms dots.
I stamped the inside, decorated the front and flap of the envelope andshowed the new version of the card to my DH (dear husband) and DD (dear daughter). They both thought it looked “better”. I have to say, I agree that the more muted Pineapple Punch DSP helps to tone down all the bright colors.

Absolutely Adorable Cows!
The new catalog has many “must have” products, and the Over the Moon cling mount stamp set is one of those “must haves”! Just take a look at these cute as a button images!
I just LOVE these cows and the sentiments. Therefore, when I saw the banner for CTS #329, I knew I was going to use one of these cows.
Here’s the CAS(E) this Sketch banner:
I flipped the sketch and this is what I created:
This Cow Rocks Lovely Lipstick Boots
In order to create this card, I first stamped the cow and colored it with the Blends markers. I used Light and Dark Basic Black for the spots, Light Smoky Slate for the hoofs, Ivory and Light Petal Pink for the ears and snout. I colored her using the Light Granny Apple Green blend and light and dark Daffodil Delight for the flower. After much thought, I decided to leave the tail white. At the same time I decided to give her DSP boots. Cute! She needed some bling of her own, and the Lovely Lipstick enamel dots from the Happiness Blooms enamels fit the bill. After creating the DSP boots (little bitty fussy cuttings), I decided to use the In Color DSP as part of the sketch pieces, and another pattern for the envelope flap.
Rectangle Stitched Layered Rectangles
These stitched dies are quickly becoming my go-to “must have” die set. For this card, I used them to crop the cow, sentiment, and solid Lovely Lipstick cardstock. Coloring in the ditch of the stitches seems to be something else I enjoy doing for emphasis. This time I used the Stamping Write Marker on the sentiment and solid cardstock. In addition, I used the marker to outline the cow’s rectangle.
Cards, and projects, with monochromatic colors always seem to turn out to be calming. The same is true for this card, but it also makes me smile. I hope you got a smile from it as well.

Fun Fold Card with Happiness Blooms DSP
Last Friday I watched Connie Stewart’s video for a window card, and I was so taken with it I used it to make 20 Easter cards before Sunday morning. Yes, it’s that simple, but it looks like it took a whole lot of time and work. Super simple fun fold card is always a hit!

Doesn’t this Happiness Blooms DSP pattern scream “Spring is Here”? I paired it with the Bloom by Bloom photopolymer stamp set and Dandelion Wishes for the sentiment.
The Bloom by Bloom stamp set, DSP, and Happiness Blooms enamel dots were in the Ocassions catalog, but are still availabe. The colors are fabulously bright and truly happy.

Fun patterns, right? I used two of the patterns for my card: the flowers on the front and the dots as a mat on the inside.
Layers, Ribbon, and Dots
For the card base, I used Pineapple Punch cardstock. Since I’d already picked the DSP floral pattern, I needed to get a mat layer between the cardstock and DSP. I chose to use Lovely Lipstick, pulling from the centers of the little flowers.
In order to create the window, I used the Layering Squares Framelits. Please watch Connie’s video for the simple directions. Simple, truly simple, but awesome results!
By closing the window on just the Pineapple Punch base, I was able to figure out where I wanted to place the stamped flowers. I wanted the flowers to be much lighter than the Lovely Lipstick sentiment I knew I wanted to use.
After I did all the stamping, I popped up DSP/cardstock layer on dimensionals. This allowed me to add ribbon without bumps and lumps. I also chose the Lovely Lipstick ribbon from the 2018-2019 annual catalog and tied it in a square knot.
I thought I was finished, but decided that I would add some of the Happiness Blooms enamel dots on the stamped flowers. Look carefully and you can see the two colors of dots on the centers of the flowers.
Pretty Darn Pleased
The 20 Easter cards I made with this fun fold were a hit with my family on Sunday. Here’s a quick look at one of those cards:
