Die Cuts for Make My Monday # 247 & TSOT # 665

Welcome to the newest Make My Monday bi-weekly challenge #247. Our host for this challenge, Pamela, chose Die Cuts or Punches for the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

Here’s my card:

I’m also going to be entering this card in the gallery for the Try a Sketch on Tuesday #665 (#TSOT665). Here’s the challenge sketch:

Due to family circumstances this weekend, this post is going to be short and (hopefully) sweet!

Mediterranean Blooms Product Suite:

  • All the DSP (designer series paper) comes from the Mediterranean Blooms DSP
  • Thankfully, the die cut orange blooms can be cropped directly from the DSP, so no coloring is involved
  • The Daffodil Delight spray on the side is also from the coordinating die set
  • I cropped the Cajun Craze background rectangle using a deckled rectangle die
  • The sentiment banner comes from the Greetings of the Season die set, which I absolutely love and will not be parting with it any time soon
  • Both the inside and outside sentiments come from the Charming Sentiments stamp set, and I stamped both in Cajun Craze
  • The background of the front of the card was embossed using the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder
  • I used dimensionals to adhere the orange blossom spray and the front sentiment to the card
  • My favorite adhesive, the Tombow multipurpose liquid glue, was used to adhere all the other pieces
  • I added the opals dot from the product suite to cover the tiny hole in the front sentiment banner
  • I added two more opals on the Cajun Craze brackground to form a triangle, which is the most pleasing for balance and movement
  • While it may look complicated, since I didn’t have to color anything, it really wasn’t, but we won’t tell anyone that

Stitching for Cardz 4 Galz #246 & Double Trouble Challenge #185

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-2.jpg

Welcome back to the bi-weekly Cardz 4 Galz # 246! Thank you so much to all of you who played along with my Love challenge #245. It was so difficult to chose the winners and honorable mention entries.

Our host for #246,Billie A. , chose Stitching, Faux or Real,  for the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

For my card, I use my new Darling Dino bundle available in the current January – April mini-catalog. A dear friend at school tells the kids that I am so old I went to high school with the dinosaurs and taught Moses, for whom I edited the Ten Commandments. It’s all in fun, and I love it when the kids play along with their own comments. I could really write a book. Obviously, this card is for my friend.

Anyway, I was able to include faux stitching when cropping all the squares on the outside and inside of the card.

Here’s my faux stitching card:

While you can’t really see it in the pictures, the band on the hats are colored with theGranny Apple Green light blend. Since I have said that my Prom date was a t-rex, this cutie is perfect!

I am also entering this in the Double Trouble Challenge #185 for the Thing 1 part of the challenge, which is the only required part of this challenge. Here’s the challenge banner:

I have more than 3 embellishments, layers with the inside and outside squares, and one sentiment on the front.

Measurements:

  • The Granny Apple Green base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches
  • AFTER running a piece of white cardstock through my Cut & Emboss machine using the Ferns embossing folder, I trimmed it to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches
  • I used a piece of the green fern Toadstool Gardens 6 x 6 inch DSP designer series paper), which is available for FREE through Sale-a-Bration with a $60 purchase, for the square in the center of the card and the one on the inside
  • Here’s a close-up of this absolutely adorable DSP:

  • I trimmed a piece of the fern DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • I punched a 1-inch circle from another piece of the Toadstool DSP and ran it through my XYRON for the envelope seal
  • Using the Stylish Shapes die set, I used two of the square dies to create a frame and inside square piece
  • Then, I used the second to the largest square die to crop out a section of the white embossed cardstock
  • The white cardstock for the inside measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches
  • I used the inside of the fern DSP and cropped the third smallest square from white cardstock for the sentiment
  • I was able to stamp and crop the sentiment banner, t-rex, hats, flower, and rocks from one piece of 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inch cardstock

Stamping, Coloring, & Assembly:

  • I stamped all the images using Momento Tuxedo Black ink and used Granny Apple Green, Lolly Lemon, and Smoky Slate blends combos to do all the coloring
  • The outside sentiment is stamped in Tuxedo Black and Granny Apple Green with two stamps from the Delightful Dino stamp set; the black ink was used on one stamp, and the green ink was used on another stamp in the set
  • I cropped the sentiment using one of the Greetings of the Season dies, and I will probably keep this set for a very long time
  • Here’s a look at this die set, which is on the Last Chance list for $22.40:
  • I colored the white diagonal ribbon with the Dark Granny Apple Green blend, threaded it through the hole in the label and tied it in a square knot
  • I’ve colored other ribbons using the blends before, and you can see a couple of those posts here and here
  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the pieces together
  • Adhere the embossed white cardstock to the front of the base of the card
  • Next, adhere the green leaf DSP frame inside the cropped square
  • Add the white embossed square back into the frame
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the sentiment label and adhere to the card
  • Next, figure out where you want your t-rex to live and add dimensionals making sure to keep clear of the sentiment label
  • Add one mini-dimensional to the hat and adhere
  • I added three ribboned enamel dots to the top left of the card to help balance out the weight on the bottom of the card; these dots also allowed me to have three embellishments on the card
  • Stamp the inside sentiment on a small cropped square of white cardstock using Tuxedo Black ink and adhere to the square of green leaf DSP
  • Adhere to the card
  • After coloring the rocks using Smoky Slate blends, the flower using Granny Apple Green blends, and the petals using the light Lemon Lolly blend, adhere them to the inside of the card
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated this card, envelope, and envelope seal set

I’m so thankful to have my domain issues with my blog figured out after more than a week of being without access.

A Cuppa for the February Sparkles Christmas Challenge,

Welcome to the February, 2025 edition of the Sparkles Christmas Challenge! The theme for this month, chosen by Melissa, is A Christmas Cup of Tea. When you get finished here, I hope you will visit the challenge site to view the creations from the very talented members of our design team. After you’ve created your own themed card, please don’t forget to upload it to our gallery.

I am not a tea drinker, and didn’t have anything tea related, so I am using coffee for my card. Here’s my card:

I am also going to be entering this card in the Try a Sketch on Tuesday # 662 and the sister challenge Double Trouble Challenge #183.

3 images: the coffee cup, and 2 different foam images

2 patterned papersin Cherry Cobbler and Basic Beige

1 sentiment that makes me smile – a cozy day certainly meets that requirement

Measurements:

  • I outlined all the pieces using a gold Wink of Stella brush
  • The Cherry Cobbler base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches
  • The Cherry Cobbler and gold flecked DSP (designer series paper) measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches
  • I trimmed another piece of DSP to 6 by 2-/2 inches for the envelope flap
  • Then, I punched a 1-inch circle from the Basic Beige and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal
  • Trim a piece of Basic Beige to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card
  • The Basic Beige vertical strip measures 1 inch by 5-3/8 inches
  • The Basic Beige square in the middle measures 2-1/2 inches square, for which I then rounded the corners
  • I used scraps of the Cherry Cobbler and Basic Beige DSP for the cups, foam images, and sentiment

Stamping, Cropping, and Assembly:

  • I stamped all the images from the Latte Love stamp set and sentiment from the Frozen Edges stamp setin VersaMark ink and covered them all with gold embossing powder, which needed to be heat set
  • Crop the coffee cup and foam images using dies from Latte Love
  • Crop the sentiment using a tag die from the Greetings of the Season die set
  • Add gold thread to the hole in the sentiment tag
  • I used multipurpose glue to adhere pieces unless otherwise noted
  • Adhere the Basic Beige strip, square, and foam pieces to the Cherry Cobbler DSP
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the gold and Cherry Cobbler DSP, the sentiment, and the coffee cup and adhere
  • After stamping the inside sentiment, adhere to the inside of the base of the card
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

An Otterly Amazing Fun Fold for the SU! Demo Fun Fold Blog Hop

Welcome back to the monthly Stampin’ UP! Demonstrators Fun Fold Blog Hop. If you love fun folds, you’ve come to a hop filled with really great projects by some very talented fellow demonstrators. When you finish here, I hope you will hop along with the rest of the demos using the links below.

It’s just a given that fun fold cards also post to the Creative Creases challenge. Debbie Mageed at Secret Stamper coordinates both this hop and the challenge. Hopefully, you will be inspired to upload your own fun fold project to the challenge!

Here’s my Otterly Amazing fun fold card:

I was looking for an easy fun fold for this month that would have a big WOW factor.  I found this post on Pinterest and knew it would be fabulous with the Otterly Adorable Suite of products!  The card was made by Karen G. and posted on LeeAnn Greff’s blog, Flowerbug’s Inkspot.  The card was amazingly simple, especially since the Otterly Amazing die set crops out the otters from the DSP (designer series paper).  I made some minor adjustments, and you can click on the link for LeeAnn Greff’s blog for the original card and measurements.

Measurements:

  • The Pretty Peacock base measures 7-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches
  • The DSP for the front measures 3 by 5-3/8 inches
  • The inside DSP measures 1 by 5-3/8 inches
  • I also trimmed a piece of the DSP to 2-1/2 by 6 inches for the envelope flap, which gets trimmed after adhering it
  • Next I punched a 1-inch circle from the Balmy Blue DSP that I used on the tag for the envelope seal, which I ran through my XYRON create-a-sticker
  • The flap piece measures 3 x 1 inch, scored at 1/2 inch
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches
  • I used scraps of Pretty Peacock, Lost Lagoon, and Old Olive cardstock for the plants and sentiment tag

Cropping, Tracing, and Stamping:

  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to attach all the pieces together
  • Crop the otters from the DSP using the Otterly Amazing dies
  • Crop the tag from Pretty Peacock cardstock using the large tag die from the Greetings of the Season die set
  • Pictures are worth 1,000 words, so I am sharing what I did to get the DSP layer for the tag:
  • Use the inside edges of the tag die to trace your pattern
  • After tracing the inside edges, fussy cut the tag
  • Adhere DSP layer to the tag and punch a hole lining up with the hole in the cardstock and then admire your skill
  • Crop the plants from the three colors of cardstock and use the coordinating marker to add the stem and leaf lines
    • Adding the lines on the plants is optional, I just thought it added dimension
  • Adhere the otters and plants to the tag
  • Add Lost Lagoon soft cording to the tag
  • Wipe down a piece of scrap Lost Lagoon with an embossing buddy
  • Stamp the outside sentiment in VersaMark and Pretty Peacock ink, cover with clear embossing powder, and heat set
    • HINT: To stamp and emboss in color, first stamp the sentiment in VersaMark ink and, without stamping off, load the sentiment with Pretty Peacock ink
    • Stamp the sentiment and quickly add clear embossing powder
  • Stamp the inside sentiment on the white piece of cardstock using Pretty Peacock ink

Assembly:

  • Adhere the scored 1/2 inch part of the flap to the inside of the card
  • Adhere the tag to the other end of the flap
  • After adhering the white cardstock, adhere the DSP strip to the inside
  • Adhere the front DSP to the base of the card
  • Add mini-dimensionals to the right side of the sentiment and use liquid glue to adhere the part that overlaps the tag
  • I added one of the Lost Lagoon riverside irregular pearls (from the product suite) to cover the hole in the sentiment tag
  • Then, I added two more pearls to the corners of the inside strip of DSP
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal

Make My Monday #244 is Going to the Gnomes!

Welcome to the newest Make My Monday bi-weekly challenge #244. Our host for this challenge, Claudia, chose Gnomes for the theme. When you finish here, please visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the very talented design team members created. Then, don’t forget to upload your creations to our gallery. We look forward to seeing your creations there!

I wanted to combine some of the retired products, including the Kindest Gnomes stamp set with current products. Here’s my card:

This gnome is my husband’s favorite out of the stamp set, so I’m always ready to use it.

Measurements:

  • The Balmy Blue base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches
  • The Basic Black mat measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches
    • HiNT: When I just need a mat, I crop the center out to use in other projects. No one will see the ugly since it’s covered up. Just don’t do this for a mat on the inside because it will cause problems when trying to write on uneven cardstock layers.
  • This Balmy Blue Beautiful Bokeh DSP (designer series paper) can be found in the January – April 2025 mini-catalog. Take a closer look at this gorgeous paper in Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue, Fresh Freesia, and Berry Burst:
  • The DSP piece measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches
  • I trimmed a piece of Balmy Blue 6 x 6 inch DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap, which is trimmed after adhering it to the flap
  • Then, I punched a 1-inch circle from coordinating DSP and ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker for the envelope seal
  • A scrap piece of Balmy Blue cardstock was used for the sentiment, which comes from the retired Biggest Wish stamp set, which I will keep for a few years because it’s fabulous
  • Use a Greetings of the Season die for the sentiment
  • I used a length of the Balmy Blue twine from the Baker’s Twine Trio to wrap around the front of the card and tied it in a double bow
  • While I haven’t stamped anything on the inside yet for the all occasion card, I did trim a piece of white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside

Stamping, Coloring, and Assembly:

  • Unless otherwise noted, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the pieces
  • Adhere the Bohek DSP to the black cardstock mat
  • Wrap Balmy Blue baker’s twine around the mat/DSP layer and tie in a bow
  • Adhere the mat/DSP layer to the base of the card
  • Stamp the gnome using Tuxedo Black ink and color him using blends combos
  • Crop the gnome
  • Stamp the black “Hello” sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink
  • Rub down the scrap for the sentiment using your embossing buddy
  • Stamp the cursive “hello” on top of the stamped sentiment using VersaMark ink
  • After covering the ink in white embossing powder, heat set it
  • After the embossed sentiment cools, crop it using the Greetings of the Season die
  • Outline the cropped sentiment using a Basic Black Stamping Write Marker
  • I adhered the gnome on top of the tiny ribbon hole in the cropped label
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and adhere
  • I thought I needed to add something, so I used three retired black matte dots
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set
