It’s All About Hearts for the January InKing Royalty Blog Hop
Welcome to InKing Royalty’s January Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are having fun with our stamping favorites – our favorite themes for seasonal cards and projects. This month’s projects feature hearts, so prepare yourself for lots and lots of love. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
Sometimes the End Doesn’t Look Anything Like the Beginning
My finished card for this blog hop doesn’t look anything like what I thought I would create, with one exception: Love. I just kept playing around with DSP and foil sheets until I finally landed on this combination. Once I finish this post, I will have to hide the card again. Last Valentine’s Day, I made my husband a card and left it in a pile of cards on my desk. I really didn’t think anything more about it. However, I came home from work on 02/13 only to find that my he found the card and filled it out to give to me.
Here’s my finished card:
Honestly, out of all the 2019 – 2021 In Colors, I have used Rococo Rose the least. Then, the January – June mini catalog came out. Now I find myself reaching for it quite a bit, much to my amazement and delight.
Final Product
- The base of the card is Rococo Rose trimmed to 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches. Then I scored it at 5-1/2 inches to create a tent card.
- I trimmed the white cardstock mat to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. Since nothing under the DSP would show, I cropped the white background for the words from the center of the white mat. Right before I adhered the two mat layers together, I also stamped the “YOU MORE” on this piece of white cardstock. The Always die set has a label die which fits this sentiment perfectly.
- While I had the white out, I trimmed a piece to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. I used this piece for the inside of the card.
- After I decided on Rococo Rose DSP for the top layer, I trimmed it to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. I also trimmed a piece to 2-1/2 inches by 6 inches for the envelope flap.
- Next, I cropped Love and Always out of a piece of a Rococo Rose foil sheet.
- The foil pieces actually fit in the XYRON Create a Sticker/Xyron 150 thingie. For each sticker you make, it is imperative that you really rub the top clear part hard in all places to get a clean lift of the letters. I use the Take Your Pick Brush Tip to get down in all the crevices.
- First, I adhered each of the foil words to the white background pieces. Then, I used liquid glue to adhere the words directly to the DSP. Next time I use these dies, I plan to use dimensionals under the words. However, I really wanted the YOU MORE to have the emphasis on this card.
Finishing Up
- The ribbon, heart trinket, and white heart embellishment are all in the mini-catalog. The ribbon is Blushing Bride/glitter but it completely works here.
- After adhering and trimming the DSP on the envelope flap, I’d finished this card/envelope set. If I’d seen this picture in my head before I started, the whole process would’ve been incredibly easier!
