Happy Halloween!

This is going to be extremely fast, short, and a tiny, little bit spooky. I’ve been making Halloween cards for my daughter, nieces, nephew, and great-nieces and nephew for a couple of months. However, it all came down to a rush in the end. Now that they are all on their way, with a treat inside, I thought I would share the ones not already posted on my blog.

The 6′ x 6′ Plaid Tidings DSP really helped tremendously with each of these cards and the coordinating envelope flaps.

Here are the remaining cards to be posted:

Using a mask helped make this card so much easier to make.
An Easter Bunny with a Halloween pumpkin??? It works when your 4 year old great-niece is obsessed with the Easter Bunny.
I really love the spider web corner stamp from the Festive Corners stamp set, but this is the only way I could figure out how to use it.
This card truly was a comedy of errors. I had the picture in my head, but really struggled to bring it to life. The little spider down in the corner is to cover just one of the problem areas.

Once in a Blue Moon

It seems fitting that in 2020 we have a Blue Moon, Halloween, and turning the clocks back one hour all at once.

Like I said at the top, short and sweet. I hope this weekend is kind to you. Stay safe, stay well, stay happy.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.

I’d love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.

Have a Peachy Day!

Masculine Card for Make My Monday # 134 and CTS # 395

One of the great things about being on a design team is that we get sneak peeks at the themes and what all the other DT members created. For this Make My Monday challenge, the theme is masculine and I made a masculine Halloween card. I have one-and-a-half Halloween cards to make, but the out-of-state ones will be mailed this evening. This card is for my nephew who is in college out-of-state. Is he too old for a Halloween card? Not at all when there’s a Chik-fil-a gift card inside! The layout for this card was inspired by this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch challenge.

Here’s my card:

I’m having a grand time with the owls from Have a Hoot and with all the greeting from Festive Corners photopolymer stamp sets.

Here’s the challenge sketch from CAS(E) this sketch, #395:

Measurements and Such

  • I used Rich Razzleberry for the base of the card. I trimmed it to 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches.
  • A mat between the plaid DSP and the base definitely needed to be included. I chose Basic Black and trimmed it to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
  • The plaid DSP, from the Plaid Tidings DSP pack, is trimmed to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
  • I used one of the rectangle stitched dies to crop some Mango Melody cardstock frame the white focal panel. The final measurement of both the Mango Melody frame and the white cardstock underneath is 2-1/4 inches by 4-1/8 inches.
  • I used the Momento Tuxedo Black ink pad to stamp all the stamped elements of this card.
  • The sentiment, spider web, and spider come from the Festive Corners stamp set.
  • I stamped the owl sitting on the branches directly onto the white cardstock. It’s important to note that I stamped it before I attached the frame. I also stamped another oil on a piece of scrap white cardstock to color and crop.
  • Since I wanted to use the Regals DSP for the owl’s cape, I also stamped the owl on a piece of the Rich Razzleberry 6 x 6 inch DSP.
  • I used the dark and light Basic Black blends combo to color the branches.

Continuing……..

  • I colored the owl using the light and dark Smoky Slate blends combo. After I finished coloring, I used the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker to outline all of the parts of the owl.
  • I cropped the owls out of the white cardstock and the DSP. Next, I very carefully fussy cut the two pieces of the cape and used the multipurpose glue to adhere it down.
  • There are mini-dimensionals under the owl. Have I said that I really enjoy this stamp set?!?
  • While dry-fitting all the pieces, I decided that I needed something to tie the framed panel and the plaid together. I already had a cropped black spiral-ish circle thingie from the Painted Labels die set. After cutting it in half, I simply played around with the placement of it.
  • I trimmed the white cardstock for the inside to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. The inside sentiment also comes from Have a Hoot and says Have a Hoot on Halloween.
  • I trimmed a piece of the plaid DSP to 6 inches by 2-3/8 inches for the envelope flap. Next, I adhered it and trimmed it using my paper snips.
  • With that, I’d finished this card and envelope coordinated set.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.

I’d love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.

Have a Peachy Day!

Orange as the Dominant Color for Make My Monday #133

Orange in October? What could be more perfect? Without further ado, here’s my card, inside and out:

I love all the stamps and dies in this set, but the dabbing owl on the front? Absolutely my favorite! This adorable Halloween card comes to you courtesy of two stamp sets, Plaid Tidings DSP, and the Peek-a-Hoot die set. I did use the scalloped trim die from the Painted Labels die set, but ribbon would be a good substitute. The inside sentiments come from the Festive Corners stamp set.

I’m not sure which niece or nephew will be getting this card, but I’m so in love with it I might have to make many more.

Measurements

  • The base of the card is Pumpkin Pie cut to 4.1-4 inches by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches. This card is a tent card.
  • The black carstock mat on the front measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
  • I cropped the spider web and two of the scallop trim pieces from the center of the black mat layer. In order to get a long enough piece of the trim, I needed to overlap two pieces then trim off the ends. So stinking pleased that I was able to get the ends trimmed in the same place.
  • I trimmed the Plaid Tidings DSP to 4 inches by 3 inches. While I had the DSP handy, I trimmed another piece to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • Next, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 2-1/4 inches by 4 inches for the top of the outside. I also trimmed a piece to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card.
  • I stamped the owls for the front and inside of the card on scrap pieces of white cardstock. . I’ve found that it’s much easier to color them before cropping them out using the die set.
  • I already had the black Everyday Label punched out. Actually, I have a pretty decent stash of various colors and various labels already punched.
  • I cropped the sentiment label using the three piece label die from the Peek-a-Hoot die set. Who knew that it would fit perfectly on the Everyday Label punch out? Score!!

Stamping, Coloring, Assembling ~ oh my!

  • The Stamp-aratus made the whole sentiment process infinitely easier than it could have been. After stamping the sentiment on the piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, I cleaned the stamp and stamped it a couple of times in VersaMark. I used clear embossing powder then heat set it using my heat tool.
  • I colored the owls first. Since I used the light and dark Cinnamon Cider blends combo they have a very slight orange color to them. Of course, that could just be because the rest of the card has so much orange in it. I used the Pumpkin Pie marker to color the little, tiny beak. Using the Crumb Cake marker for the talons seemed like a good choice..
  • I used the light and dark Mango Melody blend combo for the cutout portions of the pumpkin on the inside. The Pumpkin Pie blends combo finished out the main part of the pumpkin.
  • The branches were colored using the Soft Suede blends combo.
  • The hanging spider by the owl recieved a layer of Wink of Stella for a little bling.
  • After using the multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the spider web, I stamped the spider from the Festive Corners stamp set.
  • Amazingly, the only dimensionals are under the black Everyday Label punchout. Since I needed to make sure the card wouldn’t need extra postage, I popped the sentiment panel up using two layers of glue dots.
  • After I finished the envelope, I’d completed this card/envelope coordinated set.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you will join our challenge this week at MakeMyMonday.com!

Dinosaurs, Halloween, and the Cardz 4 Guyz #254

Welcome to my first time posting on the Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge as a part of the design team! I’m pretty thankful and honored to be a part of this very talented design team. This biweekly’s challenge theme revolves around dinosaurs or dragons. This past week I saw a picture of my 6 month old great-nephew wearing a triceratops hooded towel set. So stinking cute!! So, I created this dinosaur card for him for Halloween.

Here’s my card:

Measurements

  • I used Rich Razzleberry for the base of the card cut to 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches to make a tent card.
  • While it looks like there’s a lot of Whisper White, I only used two pieces of 4-1/4 inches by 5-1/2 inches cardstock. I trimmed the first piece to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches for the front mat.
  • Next, I used the second largest rectangle stitched die to crop out the center. No one will see anything underneath the Pumpkin Pie cardstock, so it will be our secret. From the cropped inside, I cut another white mat to 4 inches by 3-3/4 inches to use under the Plaid Tidings DSP. The Plaid Tidings DSP measures 3-5/8 inches by 3-7/8 inches. While I had this DSP out, I trimmed a piece of it to 2-1/2 inches by 6 inches for the envelope flap.
  • I wasn’t finished using the insides of the white cardstock. Finally, I cropped the sentiment block using the retangle stitched dies from the plaid mat.
  • The white inside piece of the card measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
  • These adorable dinosaurs, from the Dino Days stamp set, were stamped on scrap pieces of white cardstock and cropped using the Dino Dies. I also cropped each dinosaur from one of the adhesive sheets.
  • I used Rich Razzleberry and Pumpkin Pie for the triceratops and Momento Tuxedo Black for the pterodactyl. Then, I very, very, very carefully placed the cropped dinosaurs on the cropped adhesive pieces.

Moving On

  • Next, I turned my attention to the Pumpkin Pie pieces. The layer on the front of the card measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. I ran this layer through the Big Shot using the Subtles 3D embossing folder.
  • As before, I cropped the BOO from the center of the Pumpkin Pie piece. I also cropped the letters from the adhesive sheets. It’s kind of tricky to get the letters to line up perfectly on the cropped adhesive sheets, so take your time.
  • When I first saw the adhesive sheets, I wasn’t sure they would be cost effective. However, they are very cost effective. Here’s a photo of the piece of adhesive sheet I’ve used for this card and a previous one. I’ve cropped 44, BOO, both pieces for the triceratops, and the pterodactyl. Here’s a picture of the sheet:
I also saved the centers of the “O” letters and used them in place of dimensionals on another card. If I had thought ahead, I would have cropped one “O” from the center of the triceratops.

  • I decided that the triceratops needed some ground under his feet. Therefore, I trimmed a piece of Pumpkin Pie to 4-1/8 inches by 1/2 inch. Then I cropped the pebble die over and over along the cardstock.
  • Next, I adhered a piece of the same size black cardstock to the back of the Pumpkin Pie and adhered it onto the card.
  • I used the Halloween sentiments from Festive Corners for the inside of the card. The hanging spider looked too cute to leave out, so I stamped him starting at the dot after happy halloween.
  • The front of the envelope needed a little something as well. I decided to add the SPOOKY sentiment down the left-hand side of the envelope.
  • After trimming the DSP on the envelope flap, I’d finished this card/envelope set. I doubt very much that my great-nephew will even know he got a card. However, his three year old sister will know, and she will be getting a different card made just for her.

I’d also love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.

Have a Peachy Day!
