Flowers or Foliage for SCC #153 & AHSC # 544

Welcome back to the October Sparkles Christmas Challenge #153! Our host for this month, Melanie, chose flowers or foliage for the theme. When you finish here, I hope you’ll visit the challenge site to see what the rest of the design team members created. I’m always so impressed by everyone’s creations. We hope you will play along with us and then upload your creation to our gallery. I’m playing along with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #544 for the layout of my card.

Here’s my card:

Sparkles Christmas Challenge, October 2023

Here’s the AHSC banner:

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #544

Measurements:

  • The Cherry Cobbler base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • I ran a piece of white cardstock through the Cut & Emboss machine using the ferns 3D embossing folder.
  • Trim the embossed white cardstock to 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
  • HINT: If you trim the cardstock before dry embossing it, your cardstock won’t be the size you want.
  • The Cherry Cobbler DSP (designer series paper), from the Joy of Christmas DSP in the current mini-catalog, measures 3-1/8 by 4-1/8 inches.
  • Trim an additional piece of this DSP to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • The foliage DSP, from the Joyful Specialty DSP, measures 1-1/2 by 4-1/8 inches.
  • Punch a 1-inch circle from the foliage DSP for the envelope seal. Run it through the XYRON create-a-sticker.
  • I used scrap Cherry Cobbler cardstock for the sentiment banner.
  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card.
  • That’s it for the measurements.

Assembly:

  • Use multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the cardstock and DSP to the card base.
  • First, adhere the dry embossed cardstock.
  • Next, adhere the Cherry Cobbler/Real Red DSP to the white cardstock.
  • Then, adhere the Cherry Cobbler/gold foliage DSP to the Cherry Cobbler DSP so that just a small border of the cherry DSP shows under the foliage DSP.
  • Using Read Red ribbon, tie a bow and adhere it to the DSP using a glue dot.
  • Use your embossing buddy on the scrap of Cherry Cobbler DSP.
  • Stamp the sentiment, from the Brightest Glow stamp set, using VersaMark ink.
  • Cover with gold embossing powder and heat set.
  • Crop the sentiment using the third smallest Countryside Corners die and add dimensionals to the back of it.
  • Crop two Cherry Cobbler and one gold foil branches using the Autumn Leaves die set.
  • Adhere the branches using multipurpose liquid glue.
  • Adhere the sentiment.to the front of the card.
  • Stamp the inside sentiment, from the Hope & Peace stamp set, using Cherry Cobbler ink on the white cardstock.
  • Adhere to the inside of the card.
  • With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
