Welcome back to the Cardz 4 Guyz challenge! Our host for #335, Helen, chose a winter scene for the theme. When you finish here, I hope you visit the challenge site to see the projects created by the rest of the design team members. As always, we would love to see your holiday scene projects in our gallery.
My card lets the DSP (designer series paper) do all the work. Therefore, it falls into the easy-peasy category.
Here’s my card:
Polar bears, snow, Christmas trees, presents, and stars combine for an adorable winter scene.
Measurements:
The Night of Navy base measures 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
The Beary Christmas DSP measures 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches.
I used a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock for the sentiment square.
The Very Vanilla cardstock for the inside of the card measures 4 by 5-1/4 inches.
The coordinating DSP for the envelope flap measures 6 by 2-1/2 inches, and adhered with multipurpose liquid glue..
I punched a 1-inch circle of DSP for the envelope seal, then ran it through my XYRON create-a-sticker.
Putting the Card Together:
Using multipurpose liquid glue, adhere the DSP to the cardstock base.
I used a sentiment from the retired Hope & Peace stamp set, and stamped it in Night of Navy ink.
Crop the sentiment using one of the Stylish Shapes square dies.
Outline the sentiment square using a Night of Navy marker.
Add two pieces of tear & tape to the back of the sentiment.
Fold a length of Real Red ribbon in half and adhere to the tear & tape.
Add dimensionals to the back of the sentiment square and adhere to the front of the DSP.
Stamp another holiday sentiment on the Very Vanilla cardstock using Night of Navy ink for the inside of the card.
Adhere the Vanilla cardstock using multipurpose liquid glue.
With that, I finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal card set.
Welcome to the monthly Sparkles Christmas Challenge #141! Our host, Dawn, chose using holly or ivy as the theme for the month of October. When you finish here, I hope you will visit the challenge site and find scores of inspiration from the members of the design team. Each one is just gorgeous!
There are definitely times when I adore a stamp set and dies, along with the coordinating DSP, that I just can’t stop using it after it all retires. This Whimsical Trees original bundle from Christmas 2021 falls into that category. The coordinating DSP (designer series paper) in the pattern I used today just looks like something from Dr. Seuss, and I love anything Dr. Seuss.
The other thing I love about this DSP is that it speaks to my love of non-traditional Christmas colors.
Here’s my holly Christmas card:
Measurements:
The Mossy Meadow base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
Next, I trimmed a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
I trimmed two pieces of the DSP to 4-3/4 by 3-1/2 inches for the diagonal mats. At this point, I also trimmed a piece of the green DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
The white cardstock panel for the inside of the card measures my normal 4 by 5-1/4 inches.
I used scraps of Mossy Meadow and white cardstock for the labels.
That’s it for the measurements.
Stamping, Embossing, Coloring:
First, I used the holly and berry trio stamp and Blushing Bride ink to stamp on the background Blushing Bride cardstock.
I did the same thing with Mossy Meadow ink on the scrap I used for the background label.
Next, I stamped the sentiment on scrap white cardstock using Versamark ink. Then, I covered the sentiment with silver embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool.
HINT: The embossing buddy is one of my essential tools for heat embossing. SU! had discontinued it for a few years, but it’s available again. The embossing additions tool kit found on page 49 of the mini-catalog can really make embossing easier! It contains the embossing buddy, an embossing tray and two brushes specifically made for brushing the errant bits of powder off your paper. I’ve had my buddy for about 4 years and it’s still going strong. In my humble opinion, it’s is well worth it to get the tool kit. Even though I already have one, it’s on my next order list.
I also stamped the holly leaves and berry trio in each bottom corner of the inside of the card and the envelope, and one to use for the envelope seal. After I embossed and heat set each of them, I colored them in using my Old Olive blends combo and Blushing Bride marker.
Then, I cropped both layers of the label using the Pretty Labels die set and added dimensionals under each.
Next, I wrapped a piece of Blushing Bride ribbon around the bottom label and used a piece of silver braided ribbon to secure it.
I added the basic pearl to cover up an oops bit of stray silver embossing powder, but it works.
Other than for the two labels, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the piece to the card.
With that, I’d finished this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.
Thank you for stopping by my blog today.
Have a Peachy Day!
Sue
I live in Central Florida. My house is the blue dot. I am having a terrible time with my internet right now, so I need to schedule this post before I lose power. Hopefully, I will be able to get back online to update this post before it goes live.
This past week was the first full week of school for the kids in one of two formats: virtual or face 2 face. All I can ask is for all of us to please be kind to teachers. As a result of the week, I found myself creatively blocked all week. Therefore, I was thrilled to have created five (5!!) cards between Saturday night and Sunday. Tonight, I am sharing one of the ones I created for fun using the party animal zebras.
Here’s my card:
Truly a 15 Minute Card
This really is an easy-peasy card. I didn’t emboss anything or use any ribbon. Stamp, adhere, done!
I used Whisper White for the base of the card, adding to its simplicity. The base measures 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches to create a tent card.
The Melon Mambo mat measures 4-1/4 inches by 5-1/2 inches.
I added a Basic Black mat, which measures 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. In an effort to save some cardstock, I used a stitched rectangle die to crop out the middle of the black mat.
The top Whisper White part measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
The plaid DSP comes from the Plaid Tidings 6 x 6 DSP pack. It’s trimmed to 2 inches by 4 inches.
Instead of using ribbon on this card, I used a piece of Melon Mambo DSP. This pattern is from last year and since I had enough for this card, I used it instead of this year’s DSP. I trimmed the border piece to 3/4 inches by 4 inches. I adhered it to the top of the plaid DSP.
While I had the Melon Mambo DSP out, I trimmed a piece to 1/2 inch by 4 inches for the bottom of the inside of the card. I also trimmed a piece to 2-1/2 inches by 6 inches for the envelope flap.
Cutting: check!
Stamping and Finishing
I decided to use all the zebras for this card/envelope set because I couldn’t pick just one.
I stamped the zebra and the ground pieces on the front using the Momento Tuxedo Black ink pad.
After stamping the zebra, I figured out where the sentiments would need to fit and stamped them.
Next, I stamped the marching zebra and ground bits on the bottom right hand side of the inside. Since he is looking backwards, he works in that position.
I figured out where the sentiments needed to be placed and stamped them on the inside of the card.
The third zebra found a place to live on the front, bottom, right-hand corner of the envelope.
After adhering everything in place on the card and envelope, I’d finished this card/envelope set. Easy peasy and so incredibly cute to boot!

Two More for a BLOG CANDY Giveaway!
I know that you have many, many options for blogs written by Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. I also know that many of those demonstrators have thousands and thousands of followers. In late January/early February I had decided to spread my wings and start building a business side. I had gotten a few leads and was planning card workshops for these leads. Then, March happened, and 2020 just keeps getting more interesting.
As such, I greatly appreciate every, single follower. I now have just under 100 followers, which I would really love and appreciate triple digits for followers.
