The Freshly Made Sketches challenge is all about clean and simple cards, which suits me just fine. I needed another sympathy card, and used the Daisy Delight DSP with Tranquil Tide cardstock. The challenge sketch calls for 2 columns of 2 pieces of paper, but I changed it a bit to 2 columns of 3 pieces of DSP. I also matted on Tranquil Tide just to make the DSP pop instead of blending into the Whisper White. It’s my interpretation of the sketch, so…….. I did include the sentiment in the correct spot using the Pretty Label punch. The sentiment, We wish you God’s peace, is one I have had for a number of years, and the manufacturer is long forgotten. I wanted just a little something-something so I added the very fine Calypso Coral ribbon, but it still doesn’t make the card look fussy.

The generic colors for this week are a raspberry pink, green, and yellow. I chose Berry Burst, Old Olive, and Daffodil Delight, and went to one of my current fav stamp/punch bundle using the Daisy Delight set.
I had made my own background paper and colored daisy using this bundle for another challenge in different colors. For this challenge, I wanted to keep it cleaner, even though the background is stamped, so I didn’t add an extra punched daisy.
Here’s my card:
I actually created a 5.5 x 8.5 sheet of this paper so I can make another card later. I used the daisy stamp and alternated stamping off daisies for both layers to give the card a bit of dimension. I used the leaf two-step stamps fromthe same set by stamping off the background and then using the detailed stamp full strength, again for dimension. The center of each daisy is Daffodil Delight, as is the ribbon. The greeting is from Beautiful Branches, stamped and punched with the Pretty Label punch, which was then mounted on Stitched Shape circle and attached to the card with dimensionals. When I kept staring at the card thinking that something was off, I realized I needed color on the right hand side by the label instead of all that white space. I grabbed my Old Olive enamel shapes, which balanced the card to my satisfaction.
I am still struggling with bows right now, but at least I managed to get a little one for this card. I like this card a lot because, while it has a lot on it, there is still a calming feel to it.

TGIF Challenge #117’s theme this week is Summertime Blues, which was pretty open to interpretation as long as at least a touch of blue was included. It’s my first time playing along with this challenge, and I enjoyed the openness of the concept.
Tic Tac Toe Challenge #007 had a bunch of options, but I went with the right-hand column of diecut, floral, and yellow.
Here’s my card:
I had a general idea of what I wanted to do, and I knew that I wanted to use the Daisy Delight bundle. I have a retired SU small die to cut out leaves in Old Olive and Pear Pizazz, and I used the Stitched Shapes to cut the tiny yellow tag. Die cuts – check.
When I figured out what piece of DSP I wanted to use, I noticed that the daisies weren’t a true white, instead they all had pale blue shadows. I have a Bashful Blue SU marker and used that to color on the daisy stamp twice to get both layers. I wanted to shade using Night of Navy, but didn’t want my coloring to be that dark so I used my blender pen with the ink from the inkpad to shade. I am tickled pink with the result! I used the center stamp in Daffodil Delight on Whisper White, punched it out and layered with mini-dimensionals. I also used mini-dimensionals to pop up the center of the top layer of daisies and each top petal. I’ve found that sniping the bones (outsides) of the dimensionals I can get just the size I want for each petal. I mounted that on a Night of Navy circle. The DSP is mounted using a thin mat of Calypso Coral and the base is Night of Navy. The sentiment is from Eastern Palaces stamp set in Night of Navy on Daffodil Delight, which is mounted on Night of Navy. Floral – check. Touches of blue – check.
I also used the Daffodil ribbon and can I tell you that I must be ribbon-challenged. I have been having a terrible time lately trying to tie bows. Terrible time. I’ve been going with simple square knots and I keep repeating Connie Stewart’s directions in my head (check out her channel on youtube!) to go right over left, then left over right and pull with just what is in my left hand. That is completely backwards from what this lefty wants to do, but I’m trying. I used a tiny brad to attach the little tag onto the ribbon so that I could get the casual effect of this hanging tag. Yellow – check and check.
It took a while to create this card, but I find coloring so relaxing, and just figuring out the ribbon, getting it tied, and then trying to figure out how to attach the tag so I didn’t have to untie it took as long, or longer than, the stamping and coloring. But, I am pretty darn pleased with the daisy, and the card.
