You’re the Goat with Make My Monday Challenge # 130
The challenge for this week is to create a criss cross card. While it sounds, and looks, complicated, it’s not as difficult as it looks.
Here’s my card:

When Cindy chose the theme for this challenge, she also posted a video tutorial for creating the card. You can find that link here. I’ve taken some pictures of the process for my next Christmas card. I’ll include those within the measurements for this card.
Measurements and More
- I wanted to use the Way to Goat stamp set for this card. I wound up using all but two of the stamps in the set and I really enjoyed creating this card!
- Melon Mambo provides the base of the card. You will need to pieces of cardstock for the base. Use a single piece of cardstock, cut to 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches. Each piece needs to have a diagonal cut made to create the criss-cross pieces.
- It would be so much easier to show you than try to tell you.

- When you finish the cuts you will have two pieces of cardstock that look like this:

- I trimmed the rectangle part of one piece of the Melon Mambo cardstock to 4-1/4 inches by 5-3/8 inches to allow folding space on the card.
- Next, I trimmed the white cardstock needed for the card for the triangle pieces. First, trim two pieces of white cardstock to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches. One of those pieces will be for the inside rectangle part. The other piece needs to be trimmed diagonally, which results in the two triangles you will need.

- Since you trimmed the cardstock before cutting it diagonally, it will fit quite nicely on the triangle portions of the cardstock.

- To add dimension to all the white cardstock pieces, I tapped each edge into the Basic Gray ink pad.
- If you just take one step at a time, the whole process comes together relatively simpler than you would think.
Now, for the Rest of the Card
- I used Momento Tuxedo Black to stamp the three goats and the sentiments. Since I wanted the “grassy” area to be lighter, I used Basic Gray and stamped the “grass” under the goats and the sentiments on the diagonal ends.
- The two girly goats were colored with the Smokey Slate blends combo. I used the Basic Black marker to outline all three goats and to add some eyelashes to each female goat.
- Girly goats need some bling, right? These have Wink of Stella on their eyelids and horns.
- I colored the male goat using the Light Basic Black and both of the Smoky Slate blends. Then, I used the Melon Mambo marker to color the flower.
- Next, I had to figure out how to keep the card closed without using a belly band. To accomplish this, I punched two small flowers from the Melon Mambo cardstock. Then, I punched two from the Melon Mambo 6 x 6 DSP. I adhered the DSP to the cardstock using liquid glue. The center of each flower is a black rhinestone.
- To keep the diagonal sides closed, I added dimensionals on half of the flowers. By just putting them on half of each flower, each diagonal slips under the flower. SCORE!
- At this point, I trimmed a piece of the same DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
- Finally, I needed something else for the center of the front of the card for interest. I used a piece of the black glittered ribbon to tie a bunny-ears bow and trimmed to size.
- After I adhered and trimmed the DSP to the envelope flap, I’d finished this card/envelope set.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. I’d also love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.
Have a Peachy Day!
Sue
