Welcome to the C4G #259 theme challenge, which is traditional Christmas. For me, that means reds and greens, Christmas trees, and maybe a plaid blanket thrown in for good measure. Therefore, that’s just what I did for my card.
Here’s my card:
Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow, Whisper White and Plaid
The Christmas Means More stamp set, available now in the July – December mini-catalog, has four quotes from traditional Christmas movies. I chose the quote from ELF for the front of this card. So, let’s get started!
I used Mossy Meadow cardstock for the base and it measures 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches. I scored it at 4-1/4 inches to create a landscape tent card.
Next, I trimmed the Cherry Cobbler cardstock mat to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches.
Then I trimmed the plaid DSP, from the Plaid Tidings 6 x 6 inch DSP stack, to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
I used a 1 inch by 5-1/4 inches strip of Cherry Cobbler DSP for the banner under the sentiment. To accomodate the linen thread wrapped around this strip, I adhered it to the plaid DSP using dimensionals.
I stamped the sentiment on Mossy Meadow cardstock using VersaMark so I could add white embossing powder, which I then heat set. After I cropped the sentiment using a square die from the Stitched Shapes set, I adhered it to the card using a double layer of dimensionals.
The Christmas trees, stamped in Mossy Meadow on white cardstock, come from the Rooted in Nature stamp set. I cropped them out using the coordinating die set. While I had those supplies handy, I also stamped and cropped another double tree and a single tree stamp for the inside.
Time to move on to the inside!
The Inside
Here’s a picture of the inside of the card:
I trimmed the white cardstock to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches, as always.
The inside sentiment is from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set, and I stamped it in Cherry Cobbler.
Finally, I adhered the Christmas trees in the bottom corners using the multipurpose liquid glue.
I trimmed another piece of the Cherry Cobbler DSP for the envelope flap. Once I had adhered and trimmed the flap, I’d completed this easy-peasy card/envelope set.
Thank you so much for stopping by today.
I’d love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.

Paper Pumpkin Orders for December!
You have until December 10th to sign up for the December Paper Pumpkin! Here’s a sneak preview!
Since I started making Christmas cards in July, September definitely isn’t too early for a Christmas card. By the time I finish, more than half of the cards I need will be completely unique. It’s fun to give them to family and friends when everyone’s is the same, but also when they are different. For this challenge, I combined the Perfectly Plaid stamp set (inside sentiment), Festive Corners stamp set (Christmas lights), and Christmas Means More (front sentiment). The DSP is from the Heartwarming Hugs DSP from the current mini-catalog. The main reason I bought that paper is because of the sentiment on the front. I just love How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and I am all about all things Grinch. This sentiment comes from the Grinch, and the colors in the DSP are Grinch colors. Perfect pairing!
Here’s my Christmas in September card:
Let’s Get Started
I used Real Red for the base of the card. It’s trimmed to 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches, scored at 5-1/2 inches.
To create the half flap, I trimmed off 2-3/4 inches from the front.
The remaining flap on the base has a Pear Pizazz mat measuring 2-5/8 inches by 4-1/8 inches.
The top DSP was trimmed to 2-1/2 inches by 3-15/16 inches, otherwise known as one tick mark before 4 inches.
I decided to use Pear Pizazz for the front center portion and trimmed it to 3-1/4 inches (top to bottom) by 3-3/4 inches (side-to-side).
The contrasting red patterned DSP is actually the flip side of the dotted DSP. I used a strip measuring 1 inch by 3-1/8 inches. As long as I had the DSP out, I trimmed a piece for the envelope flap to 2-1/2 inches by 6 inches, and will have the red pattern showing on the flap.
Once I started dry-fitting pieces, I realized I needed to cover the inside flap pieces with DSP. Therefore, I trimmed on piece to 2-1/2 inches by 4 inches. The red DSP behind the Pear Pizazz was trimmed to 3-1/8 inches by 3 inches.
Time for the Whisper White
I started with the inside piece of Whisper White and trimmed it to 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
Next, I pulled out my Stamp-aratus for the front sentiment. I used it to stamp the front sentiment in Mossy Meadow twice to get a deep green color. After the ink had dried completely, I used the embossing buddy on the cardstock to prep it for embossing.
Since I wanted to use clear embossing powder on the sentiment, I cleaned the stamp without removing it from the Stamp-aratus. I stamped it twice using VersaMark. Then, I quickly added clear embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool.
Making It Work
There isn’t a stitched rectangle die to closely crop the sentiment. Therefore, I made my own size. Pictures are worth 1,000 words, so here are two pictures showing how I did it.
I use this technique quite often to create just what I need!
To add some additional interest, I wrapped a piece of the Mossy Meadow diagonal striped ribbon around the red front panel and tied it in a square knot. I put a glue dot under the square knot to keep it in place.
There are dimensionals under the sentiment panel. I used tear-and-tape to adhere the front sentiment panel to the front flap. Everything else was adhered using the multipurpose liquid glue.
The inside sentiment, the Christmas lights on the corner of the inside and the two bottom corners on the front of the envelope were all stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black.
I colored the holly leaves and berries on the sentiment panel using Real Red and Pear Pizazz markers.
I colored all three strands of lights using the Real Red, Pear Pizazz, and Mossy Meadow markers. Then, I added some clear Wink of Stella to each of the lights. In person, the lights have just a touch of a shimmer.
Finally, I adhered and trimmed the DSP on the envelope flap. With that, I finished this fun fold card/envelope coordinated set.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. I’d also love to hear what you think, and greatly appreciate every comment.
Have a Peachy Day!

First, WOW! I just happened to open the Paper Craft Crew #386 Top Picks post on my way to this week’s challenge. I saw the three Top Picks and thought, wait, that’s my card! Honored! Completely honored! You can see that card here. As soon as I can figure out how to add the Top Pick badge to my blog I will do that. Thank you again!
This week’s Freshly Made Sketches 488 sketch is most definitely clean and simple. For some reason, as soon as I saw the sketch, I knew exactly what I needed to create.
Here’s my card:
Here’s the challenge banner:
Hopefully, you’ve seen Elf and knew right away to which movie this card refers. My DH and DD had no idea. I later found out neither of them have seen the movie. However, my niece has seen the movie and she recognized it immediately.
A Really Clean and Simple Card
FMS challenge sketches always have a CAS layout. For my card today, I completely followed the CAS format with a card which requires very few supplies. I used the Brights and Regals 6 x 6 DSP, some white and black cardstock, two die sets (but you could really get away with just one), a scrap of gold foil, a scrap piece of white cardstock, and the Christmas Means More stamp set. That’s it.
Measurements and Directions
I used white cardstock for the card base cut at 4-1/4 inches by 11 inches and scored at 5-1/2 inches.
There is a black cardstock mat measuring 4-1/4 inches by 5-1/2 inches.
In order to easily create the card front, I trimmed a piece of the Daffodil Delight DSP to 4-1/8 inches by 5-3/8 inches. I used multipurpose glue to attach this to the black cardstock mat.
I used Garden Green DSP for the top part of the card. First, I trimmed it to 3 inches by 6 inches. Next, I used my paper trimmer to cut it on a diagonal. I didn’t really measure it, rather I thought since Elf’s coat is longer than the tights, I needed more green than yellow. I used some gold Wink of Stella to very lightly paint gold on the green, again mimicking the pattern on Elf’s coat. However, the gold doesn’t show up well at all, but I am ok with that. I adhered the green piece to the top of the Daffodil Delight base.
My scrap piece of gold foil was cropped using the middle square of the Stitched Shapes die set. I had a scrap piece of black cardstock and I trimmed it down to just shy of the height of the gold foil belt buckle. This makes the black belt 1-1/2 inches wide. Then I ran the belt through my Big Shot in the Subtle 3D embossing folder. This piece did not have to be cut on the diagonal, which would have required too much measuring. After adhering the belt following the Garden Green diagonal line, I simply had to trim off the overhang.
Finally, I adhered the buckle directly on the belt.
Finishing Up
This Elf sentiment, from the Christmas Means More stamp set, available in the August – December mini-catalog, is just too perfect! The set also includes quotes from Miracle on 34th Street, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and It’s a Wonderful Life. The Grinch is my favorite quote from the illustrated movie I’ve seen for many, many years on tv.
I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock and cropped it using a die from the Stitched Rectangle die set. This rectangle is the only element on the card popped up on dimensionals.
While I could’ve used any Christmas sentiment on the inside, I chose “Hoping that your busy year comes together in Christmas Cheer” from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set, which carried over from last year.
So that the inside wasn’t just plain, I trimmed a piece of Garden Green and Daffodil Delight DSP to 4-1/4 inches. The Daffodil Delight strip measures 1/2 inch high, and the Garden Green measures 3/4 inch high. I placed the yellow DSP on the middle of the green DSP and adhered it to the bottom of the card.
Finally, I trimmed a piece of Daffodil Delight DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. After adhering and trimming the flap DSP, I’d finished this card/envelope set.
Looking at this long list, I realized that you might look at it and think that the card is anything but simple. However, it truly qualifies as a clean and simple, easy-peasy card. I hope you give it a try!
