Just Kiddin’ for the April SU! Demos Fun Fold Blog Hop!

Welcome to the April, 2024, Fun Folds Blog Hop with Independent Stampin’ UP! Demonstrators.

Each month, a group of demos share fun fold cards for a blog hop. I always learn something new and thoroughly enjoy seeing the creations of the other demos. We hope that you will use the line-up below to hop along with us. This month, I CASe’d a card from Karen Titus. Her post said it was a 5-minute card, and if you use a piece of 5-1/2 by 12 inch DSP (designer series paper), it totally is a 5-minute card. Within that time, you will have your base and panels are trimmed and ready to go. You can see the video with Karen and her husband here.

I’ve already posted a couple of cards I made using the Just Kiddin’ Suite Collection. You can see that post here.

Here’s my version of her card using the Kiddin’ Around bundle and coordinating DSP:

Here’s a video I created for the storybook accordion fold card:

Measurements:

  • The base of this storybook accordion card measures 12 by 5-1/2 inches.
  • Score at 1-3/4, 4-3/4, and 7-3/4 inches.
  • The panels of Karen’s card measure 2-3/4 by 4-1/4 inches, and you need 3 of them.
  • You also need 3 pieces of white cardstock measuring 2-1/2 by 4 inches.
  • Trim a piece of DSP (designer series paper) to 6 by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap.
  • Don’t forget to punch a 1-inch circle of coordinating DSP for the envelope seal. Run it through your XYRON create-a-sticker.
  • If you are using cardstock for your base and need DSP panels for each section, the measurements are as follows:
    • 2 pieces of DSP measuring 5-3/8 by 1-5/8 inches
    • 2 pieces measuring 5-3/8 by 2-7/8 inches
    • 1 piece measuring 5-3/8 inches by 4-1/8 inches.

Assembly:

  • The balloon stamps can be found in the Beautiful Balloons stamp set.
  • The first two sentiments come from the Zany Zoo stamp set.
  • I used the “you sparkle every day” sentiment from the Just Kiddin’ stamp set.
  • Thankfully, I didn’t need to fussy cut the adorable characters. The Just Kiddin’ die set contains dies to match different characters in the DSP.
  • After finishing my stamping, I cropped the Azure Afternoon and white squares using the Stylish Shapes die set.
  • This card will be bulky, but will fit in a medium SU! envelope as long as you don’t use dimensionals. Don’t forget to add an extra stamp to the envelope.
  • Therefore, I tear & tape to adhere the cardstock panels that stick out. Don’t use tear & tape on the whole piece or it won’t open properly.
  • Then, I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere all the other pieces.

I promise if you can trim and score paper, you can create this card. Promise!

Have fun creating!

Birthday for a Child for Cardz 4 Guys # 313

Welcome to the first Cardz for Guyz for 2023.  I’m back from a break and am extremely grateful for the assistance Caz, our fearless challenge leader, when I needed to take a break.

For this challenge, I created a card for my great-nephew.  I saw this idea at some point, and I tend to get lost in my clicking.  Therefore, I have no idea where I first saw this idea.  If you know, please let me know so I can give the proper person credit.

Here’s my card:

When I made this card, I actually made a card for his sister for her 5th birthday, and my other great-niece for her 7th birthday.  However, in trying to get the white accents on the candles, I ruining those cards.  More about that in a bit.

Measurements:

  • The Tahitian Tide base measures 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, scored at 4-1/4 inches.
  • The Parakeet Party DSP measures 4 inches by 5-1/4 inches.
  • I also trimmed a piece of Tahitian Tide DSP to 6 inches by 2-1/2 inches for the envelope flap. Then, I punched a 1 inch circle from the Parakeet Party DSP for the envelope seal.
  • The white layer is watercolor paper and measures 3-1/2 inches by 4-3/4 inches.
  • The In Colors for 2022 – 2024 are pretty bright, so I needed something to tone it down a little and to give your eyes a place to rest. To accomplish that, I used two Basic Black cardstock mats. The first one is 4-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches. The smaller one measures 3-5/8 by 4-7/8 inches.
  • I cropped the 3 from one of the black cardstock layers.
  • As usual, I trimmed white cardstock to 4 by 5-1/4 inches for the inside of the card.
  • That’s it for the measurements.

Watercoloring:

  • For each candle, I put one drop of re-inker on an acrylic block. I used the widest water painter brush and a small bit of water to dip into the ink. Then, I was able to just stroke the color on the watercolor paper.
  • I did the same thing for the three flames.
  • I needed to let the candles dry overnight just to be sure that every bit had dried completely. Then, I used the journaling pen to outline each of the candles and flames.
  • Next, I stamped the greeting using Tuxedo Black Momento ink.
  • Here’s where I ruined the other two cards. I tried to use a fine-tip silver Sharpie for the accents. The watercolor paper just sucked up the Sharpie. Then it was a trial and error trying to find something that would work on the watercolor paper. I finally found a white gel pen but had to put multiple layers of the gel pen on each candle. Once again, I needed to let everything dry between layers.
  • I used multipurpose liquid glue to adhere all the layers. I added dimensionals under the 3 to pop it up. While I wanted to add some other embellishments, since this is a card for a little guy, I left it simple.
  • With that, I’d completed this coordinated card, envelope, and envelope seal set.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.

Have a Peachy day!
